VAN RASSEL – Suddenly at his residence on Sunday, March 17, 2002 , BRYAN GEORGE VAN RASSEL in his 63rd year. Beloved husband of Barbara Ann Duncan for 43 years. Loving father of Sheryl Boath & husband Kerr, Calgary , Gregory & wife Lise, Montreal , Richard & wife Sandra, Calgary and Peter & wife Jodie, London . Cherished papa of Ashley , Jordan , Brittany,Cody, Dallas and Ben. Dearly loved son of Gerald & Lillian van Rassel. Son-in-law of Eleanor Duncan, Powassan. Always loved and remembered by sisters/brothers-in-law; Brenda & John Stack, Sandra & Renaud Duguay, Dick & Don na Duncan, Dianne & Jack McCoy, David Duncan, Yvonne & Nick Rennette, Clarence & Caron O’Shell, Doug & Ann O’Shell, Pat & Gene Reichstein and Sharon & Dennis Booth. Also loved & missed by several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many close friends. Predeceased by brother Michael (1956), and parents-in-law Peg & Harry Duncan. Mr. van Rassel was a National Rep with the CEP Union and a member of Huron House Boys Home Fundraising Committee and the St. Benedict’s Breakfast program. Visitation at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Wednesday where prayers will be offered at 3,30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11a.m. Thursday March 21st, at St. Benedict’s Church. Dear aunt of Leslie and Allan Foster, Woodbridge, Murray and Pat Tonge, Toronto, Elizabeth and Joseph Gorek, San Francisco, and David and Gail Tonge, Peterborough. Sister in law of Eileen and Melvin Chisholm, Saskatoon, Leta and Cy Gill, Scarborough, Frank and Reta West, Pickering and Muriel Tonge, Scarborough. Also surviving are several great nieces and nephews. She will be missed by her family, many good friends and her Sorority Sisters. Noreen was a 50 year member of the Delta Chi Sigma Sorority - International Philanthropic Organization and an active member of Central United Church . Beloved wife of the late Thomas Richard Berry (1999) Dearest mother of Anne & Ted Evans, Sue & Mitch Martin, Tim & Pauline Berry of Sarnia , John & Mitzi Berry, St. Louis , MO. , David & Sandra Berry, Wyoming . Grandmother of Annmarie, Monica, Shawn & Michel Martin, Melissa, Aaron & Adam Farr, Rachel & Jocelyn Berry, Leanna & Thomas Berry, Heather, Jonathan & Andrew Evans. Great-grandmother of Brock & Paige Martin, Chloe, Lee & Sophie Folkersen, Morgan Boshell Farr, Marcus Farr and Ellen, David & Teddy Ferris. Sister of Marilyn Allan & Doug Allan, Sarnia . Sister-in-law of James (Rose), John (Dora), Mary Blake, Francis Fraser (Bob). Predeceased by parents Lyle & Phyllis Allan Elizabeth was born in Sarnia and dedicated her life to her family and her love for children. She had been, for over twenty years, a dedicated and creative member of the staff of Sarnia-Lambton Centre for Children and Youth. She played a vital role in the creation and development of mental health services for children and their families in the community including the Lochiel Drop In Centre and The House By The Side of the Road. Elizabeth was elected to 'Who's Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges', 1971 in recognition of outstanding merit and and accomplishments as a student at Lambton College. She was awarded the Early Childhood Education Award for contributions to the field, The Canada 125th Anniversary Medal for extraordinary contributions to the Sarnia area in promoting good citizenship and the needs of children, the 1994 YMCA Canada Peace Medal for outstanding contributions as a peacemaker and selected to the Mayor's Honour list 1995' for her contributions to the community. She will be sadly missed but forever remembered for her love and dedication to her family and this community. Visitation at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia, 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Sunday. Funeral service celebrating the life of Elizabeth Berry will be held 1 p.m. Monday at St. George's Anglican Church with The Rev. Ray Jenkins officiating. Predeceased by brothers Dick, Raymond and Alex and by sister Mae. Mildred spent most of her early life in Florence , Cape Breton before moving to Sarnia in 1960. She was actively involved as a volunteer at The Strangway Community Centre. Rocco came to Canada from Italy in 1953 and was a member of the Labourers Union for 40 years and a member of the Dante Club.
