Wilcox, Ethel Annie

Date of Death: June 15th 2002
Wilcox, Ethel Annie (nee Andrews) passed away on June 15 2002 at the Sunparlour Home in Leamington Ontario in her 97th year. Predeceased by her husband Edgar "Dude" 1978. Dear mother of Robert in St Cartharines, Betty Carder of Windsor, Diane Hislop of Cottam. Ethel Wilcox a long time resident of Cottam was born in England. Her family settled in Chatham Ontario where she trained as a nurse. She had two sisters Edith and Margaret and a brother Joseph all deceased. She and her husband purchased a farm in Cottam in 1935 During the war she was a nurse in the Infirmary at Assumption College. Following that time she and her husband operated a successful road side stand. At that time Mrs. Wilcox did considerable home nursing for friends and neighbors in the area. She was very active in the Cottam Women s Institute and held a number of positions in the organization she also organized the Tweedsmuir History in 1967. She is survived by her grandchildren Wendy Brandes of Barrie, Rob Wilcox of Calgary, David Wilcox of St Catharines, David Hislop of Cottam, Kelly Craig of Owen Sound and Pamela Rowberry of Windsor. Great Grandchildren include Allison and Abbie of Barrie, Zachary Max and Sam of Calgary, Brock Rowberry of Windsor, Kyle and Sarah Craig of Owen Sound and Jessica and Hannah Hislop of Cottam."Ethel Wilcox was loved by everyone who knew her." Visiting will be held at the Stewart L Kennedy Funeral Home 128 Talbot St N Essex [ 776-7378] on Tuesday June 18, 2002 from 12 noon until the time of the funeral service at 2,00 PM. Reverend Ken Bauman officiating. Interment at Cottam United Church cemetery. In kindness memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice or the Cottam United Church.

Dearest mother to Donald and wife Nancy Chartier, Nancy & husband Jack Simpson, Mary Anne & husband George Poirier all of Essex and Paul & wife Helen Chartier of Oxley.Proud grandmother to 12 grandchildren. Joyce is also survived by one brother Gerald Cox of Windsor and predeceased by one brother Donald. She will be dearly missed by her sister s & brother s-in-law, nieces & nephews. Visiting at the Stewart L Kennedy Funeral Home, 128 Talbot Street North, Essex, (776-7378), on Thursday, September 5, 2002 from 7,00 to 9,00 PM, Friday, 2,00 5,00 PM & 7,00 9,00 PM. COOPER, Leonard George, passed away on October 10, 2002, at Hotel-Dieu Hospital, Windsor. Beloved husband of Florence (nee Reeves). Loving father of Pat & Paul Kelly of Morpeth, Deb & Tom Rowles of McGregor, Terry & Lora Cooper of Kingsville. Cherished grandfather of Ryan, Jason, Colleen, and the late Eric, Tim, Mike, Mark Ashley and Nicole. Great grandfather to Tyler. Len was the owner of Cooper Automotive and was proud to have served in the Royal Canadian Navy in 1944. He will be sadly missed by all. Visiting at the Stewart L Kennedy Funeral Home, 128 Talbot St. N. Essex, (776-7378), from noon until time of Memorial Service, to celebrate Leonard s life at 2,00 PM. Rev. Doreen Canavan officiating. Also survived by grandchildren Dan Legris, Michelle Brownlee, Donna & husband Rusty Avery & Julie Clark & friend Phil Pearson, 5 great-grandchildren, Ashton, Kaytlin Legris, Irin, Jaden & Ruby Avery. William is also survived by brothers Robert & the late Marjorie Henderson, Ernest & Lois Henderson of Saskatoon, and sister-in-law Mary Simpson. Predeceased by one brother Gerald Henderson and one brother-in-law Gerald Simpson. William was a member of the R.C.L., Branch 201, Essex, Essex Bowling Club, Essex Retirees Club, Kingsville Golf & Curling Club, and served in the Canadian Armed Forces serving in England, France, Germany, Holland and Italy during the years of 1939 to 1945. Loving mother to Shirley & husband the late Fred Libby of Taber Alberta, Keith & wife Daisy Hicks of Maidstone, and Sandy & husband Kim Ferguson of Essex. Margaret is also survived by her brother Warren & his wife Catherine Walstedt of Maidstone. Predeceased by her parents the late John & Ada Walstedt and sister Mabel and husband Al Monroe. She will be sadly missed by grandchildren Cindy & Alan Teghtmeyer, Linda Libby, Ben Libby, Rick & Kelly Hicks, Terri Hicks, Jeff Ferguson & Karrie, and Dan Ferguson, and also 3 great grandchildren Megan, Kaitlyn, & little Jack. Beloved father to Howard Jr. and his wife Lisa of Elliot Lake, Corey and his wife Michelle of Kitchener. Loving grandpa of Benjamin & Matthew. Much loved brother of Inez Holden of Amherstburg, Verna Sharen and her husband Bob of Grand Bend, Mabel Ford and her husband Sam, Jean O Dowd of Windsor, Doris Izsak and her husband Wayne of Maidstone, Helen Cox of Leamington, Roberta Coomber and her husband Gary of Windsor. Predeceased by his brother Edward (2000). Special uncle to Donna, Larry, Sherry, Don & Brian Holden. Special great-uncle to Stephanie, Chad, David, Jessica and Shawn. Also survived by many other nieces, nephews, aunts & uncles. Howard will be dearly missed by Brian Marwic, Scott Loney, Jason Turnage and Johnny Walker. Howard was a member of Nabet Union Local 700. A memorial service to celebrate Howard s life will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2002 at 11,30 a.m. at the Stewart L. Kennedy Funeral Home 128 Talbot St. N. Essex. Rev. George Cox officiating. Loving husband of Ethel Queen (nee Hooker). Dearest father of Alan & Judy Queen of Brantford, and Carol & Scott Miller of Essex. Also survived by his grandchildren Adam, Andrew (Queen) Justin, Matthew, Lindsay, & Craig. Predeceased by his parents the late Flossie & William Queen, and one sister Marjorie Queen. Wilbert worked at the Ford Motor Company for 35 years. He was a member of the Essex Retirees, Leamington & Essex Lawn Bowling for over 20 years. Wilbert also served in the Canadian Army in the 2nd Anti-Tank Artillery from 1934 to 1946, serving in the United Kingdom and Europe. Visiting at the Stewart L. Dear mother of Anna Mae Will and husband Ralph, Leamington ; Sharon Mac Don ald and husband John, Manitoulin Island ; Betty Hyatt, London. Loving grandmother of Dennis Will, Darrin Will, Derrick and Jackie Will, Jennifer and Jeff Farquhar, John and Sue Mac Don ald, Stephen Mac Don ald, Michelle and Clem Lennox, Janet Hyatt and Mike Male and great grandmother of Taylor, Garret, Marissa, Tisha and Christoffer. Predeceased by 1 brother Wilmot Stevenson and by 4 sisters Pearl Thompson, Violet Beacom, Florence Beacom and Maude Bryan. Mabel was a member of the Leamington Half Century Club and Goldsmith United Church.
