Nicolson, Vivian Avis

Date of Death: August 15th 2002
Nicolson, Vivian Avis July 5, 1915 – August 15, 2002 With the same courage and dignity with which she lived, Vivian passed away at Summit Place Lodge. Predeceased by her husband William Nicolson. She will be forever missed by her daughter Beverly and son-in-law Ross Trask; sister Anne Ratcliffe; and friend Terry O’Brien. She will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and friends. A heartfelt thank you to Summit Place and Dr. Tweedie for their compassion and tender care during her illness. Friends are invited to the Tannahill Funeral Home for visiting on Sunday evening from 7-9 p.m. A celebration of her life will be held in the chapel on Monday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Jack Fearnall officiating. A memorial service and interment will follow at Rideau Gardens in Montreal August 24th at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, G.B.R.H.C. Foundation or the University of Guelph Pet Trust would be appreciated.

Parkes, Rae Anna

Parkes, Rae Anna At Central Place Retirement Place on Wednesday, August 28, 2002. Rae Anna Parkes (nee St. James) of Owen Sound in her 98th year. Wife of the late Charles Parkes. Dear mother of Alan Parkes and his wife Reta of Owen Sound. Daughter in law of Ileana Parkes of Edmonton, Alberta. Lovingly remembered by six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her son Roy Edwin Parkes, a brother Joe St. James, two sisters Ida Munkittrick and Virginia Ewing and two grandsons. Private family arrangements have been held. Following cremation, interment will take place at Woodlawn Park Cemetery in Miami, Florida.

Wilson, Myrtle Florence

Wilson, Myrtle Florence Peacefully, at Grey Bruce Health Services, Owen Sound on Thursday, September 5, 2002. Myrtle Wilson of Owen Sound in her 92nd year. Wife of the late William Wilson. Loved mother Doris and her husband Les Marriott, Joyce Acton, Ken Girdler and his wife Jo-Ann and Laurine Weppler all of Owen Sound. Sadly missed by her grandchildren, great grandchildren and her great great grandchildren. Also survived by her daughter in law June McCartney of Owen Sound. Predeceased by her son Stuart McCartney, sons in law Fred Acton and Roy Weppler, six brothers and five sisters. Friends are invited to the Tannahill Funeral Home for visiting on Friday evening from 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted in the chapel on Saturday morning at 11 o’clock with Rev. David Rob ins officiating. Interment, Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

Dear Step-father and father to Gordon Strathy (Doris) of Pettawawa, Patricia Reid (Norm) of Ceylon, Katherine McBeth (Al) of Bear Lake, British Columbia, Linda Carleton of Owen Sound, Isabell Simpson of Surrey, British Columbia, Alvin Wright (Edith) of Port Elgin, James Wright of Creston, British Columbia, Don na Brodie-Wright of Owen Sound, Ron Wright (Barb) of Annan, Murray Wright (Betty) of Creston, British Columbia and Jackalene Brown (Greg) of Surrey, British Columbia. Lovingly remembered by thirty-two grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Father-in-law of Marg Strathy of Chatsworth. Predeceased by his stepson Doug Strathy and two sisters, Kate Schaffer and Isabel Siegrist and two brothers Jack and Angus. Friends are invited to the Tannahill Funeral Home for visiting on Monday from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted in the chapel on Tuesday, August 27th at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Doctor Adrian Ninaber officiating. Interment in Boyd Cemetery, Shallow Lake. As expressions of sympathy, the family would appreciate memorial donations to the Diabetes Association.

Skelding, Alma At Grey Bruce Health Services in Owen Sound on Friday, July 12, 2002. Alma Anna Skelding of Owen Sound in her 94th year. Daughter of the late John and Annie Skelding. She is predeceased by her four brothers, George, Fred, Frank, Harold and one sister Leanor (Mrs. Russell Campbell). Alma was a member of the Alliance Church in Owen Sound where the funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, July 16th at 1:30 p.m. Visitation at the church one hour prior to service time. Interment in Shelburne Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, in memory of Alma, memorial donations to the Gideon Memorial Bible Plan or the Alliance Church would be appreciated.

Wife of the late Frederick Smith. Loving mother of William “Bill” and his wife Sandra, Rose Anne and her husband Calvin Legate all of Owen Sound, Betsy and her husband Roger Kennedy, Ronald and his wife Wendy all of Tara, Barry and his wife Joy and Barbara and her husband Gord Brough and mother in law of Mildred Smith all of Owen Sound. Sadly missed by 15 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Lovingly remembered by sisters in law Thelma Gordanier and Dorothy Gordanier and her brother in law, Arnold Smith. Predeceased by her son Robert (1987), grandsons Ryan and Brian, 3 brothers James, George and Robert Gordanier and 4 sisters Marjorie Barthel, Verna Mungham, Mary Palmer and Roberta Smith. Friends are invited to the Tannahill Funeral Home for visiting on Monday evening from 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted in the chapel on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock with Dr. Brad Clark officiating. Interment, Hillcrest Cemetery, Tara. Memorial donations to either the Alzheimer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

Sister of Shannon Waite of Owen Sound, Judylynn Marie McGregor of Wiarton, Jodyann Stoakley, Marten Waite both of Owen Sound and Paul Stoakley of Kemble. Granddaughter of Edith Stoakley of Owen Sound. Also remembered by her many Aunts, Uncles and Nieces and Nephew. Predeceased by her grandparents, Winford and Lauclina Waite and Arnold Stoakley. The funeral service will be held in the chapel of Tannahill Funeral Home on Monday, August 19th at 11:00 a.m. Visitation one hour prior to service time. Interment in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Georgian Bluffs. Father of Dennis Tottenham and his wife Gloria of Regina, Saskatchewan and Diane and her husband Brad Clark of Owen Sound. Father-in-law of Linda Tottenham of Owen Sound. Predeceased by his son Doug. Survived by his brother Bill and sisters Helen Keeling, Marg Taylor and Isabel Cook all of Owen Sound. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to the Tannahill Funeral Home for visiting on Friday from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted in the chapel on Saturday, September 28th at 10:00 a.m. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery. Beloved husband of Eileen (nee Huffman) for 62 years. Dear father of Lloyd Trimble and his wife Linda of Aurora, Phyllis and her husband Joe Allgrove of London and Bill Trimble and his wife Brenda of Fergus. Lovingly remembered by six grandchildren, Maria Dunning, Susan, Karen and Victoria Allgrove, Tracy Trimble and Tamara Crabbe and nine great grandchildren. Predeceased by his grandson James, two sisters Margaret and Violet and two brothers Willis and David. Fondly remembered by the Huffman and Trimble families and friends.
