Grandfather of Tyler West, Bright's Grove and Alishia Vail, Sarnia. Visitation at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 Christina St. N. 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday. Snauwaert, Paul Reni

Date of Death: April 7th 2003
SNAUWAERT Born in Schuferskappela, West Flanders, Belgium, December 26, 1907, PAUL RENI SNAUWAERT passed away at L.H.G. Palliative Care on Monday, April 7, 2003. Paul was predeceased by his wife Evelyn (Popelier)(1989), and by his parents, Henri & Emily (Bruneel) Snauwaert. Paul was also predeceased by his brothers Camiel (1932), George (1996), Alphonse (1997) and sisters Evona (February 2003) and Mary (March 2003). Paul is survived by his always loving daughter Marie and her husband Borden Kemmis, Pt. Edward. Cherished grandfather Gramps to three grandchildren, Lynne Chamberlain and friend Mark Ouimet, Bright s Grove, Christine and her husband Perry Persichetti, Camlachie and Paul Gerrits and his wife Pam, Petrolia. Special great-grandfather to Paul & Steven Persichetti, Elyssia & Evan Chamberlain and Taylor Marie Gerrits. He will also be missed by Darryl Chamberlain, Sarnia. Paul is also survived by sisters Bertha Jaecques and Irene Hoskin, sisters-in-law Joyce Snauwaert and Mary Snauwaert and many nieces and nephews. Paul, who was the eldest of eight children, emigrated to Canada in 1914 with his parents, one brother and two sisters. The family set sail from Brussels, Belgium to Liverpool, England and landed at the New York Harbour. His parents then moved to Canada where they had four more children. The Snauwaert family settled in the Blackwell farming area just outside Sarnia, where they continued to farm for many years. Paul and his younger brothers were well known hockey players in the Blackwell community during the 1920 s and 30 s. Paul was a lifetime member of the Knight s of Columbus, and was a founding member of the Canadian Belgium Dutch Club (CBD). Paul and his wife Evelyn enjoyed 5-pin bowling and weekly euchre parties with the CBD Club after their retirement in 1979. Paul will be remembered as a very hard working, quiet, gentle and honest man with a dry, humorous wit. He will be sadly missed by his daughter Marie and her family. Visitation at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 Christina St. N., Sarnia, Thursday 4-8 p.m. where prayers will be offered at 4 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday April 11, 2003 at St. Peter s Church. Interment Our Lady of Mercy cemetery. Thibeault, Richard Joseph

THIBEAULT - At Lambton Hospitals Group - Palliative Care on March 28, 2003 RICHARD JOSEPH THIBEAULT age 47, of Sarnia. Loved husband and best friend of Kim (Sauve). Cherished father of Michelle and Stephanie. Dear son of (Lou) Lucille (Roberts) and the late Leo Thibeault. Brother of Dennis Thibeault, and Ronald Thibeault and his wife Teena, Sarnia. Beloved son-in-law of Norman and Patricia Sauve. Brother-in-law of Brenda Bedard and her companion Scott, B.C. and Richard Sauve and his wife Shirley, Sarnia. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sister Linda Bell. Rick worked for Local 95 Insulaters Union for 27 years, was a member of the Bluewater Anglers, and the Confederation Golf Club and a past director of the Huron Laker's Girls Basketball Association. Visitation at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 Christina St. N. Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service in the Chapel of McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2003. Dear father of Becky Weir and her husband Paul, Sarnia, Bev Dennis, Sarnia, Robert Ferns and his wife Sylvia, Calgary and Barb Dexter, Sarnia. Son of Catherine Ferns and the late Percy Ferns. Grandfather of 9 and great-grandfather of 3. Brother of Joyce Adams, Sarnia, Joan Foley, Dunchurch, Judy Evans, Windsor and Cathy Ritchie, Sarnia. Predeceased by sister June Ethier. Mr. Ferns was a member of A F Of L Electrical Local 530 I B E W and the Sarnia Golf and Curling Club. Visitation at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 N. Christina St., 7-9 p.m. Sunday. A Funeral Service celebrating Robert's life will be held 11 a.m. Monday, December 9th in the McKenzie & Bundy Chapel. Interment Lakeview cemetery. Dear mother of Tracey McDonald, Ottawa; Mark Waites and wife Dana, Leamington; Sandra Waites, Windsor; Katherine Harris and husband Gerald, Comber. Loving nana of Makenzy and Gage. Dear sister of Eileen Patterson and husband Lorne, Bothwell; Kenneth Hastings, Chatham; David Hastings and wife Laura, Ridgetown. Dear sister-in-law of Verna Waites and the late Clarence, Staples; Glen and Marilyn Waites, Comber; Robert and Ruth Ann Waites, Comber. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Visiting at the Reid Funeral Home, 14 Russell Street, Leamington on Thursday 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service to celebrate Marilyn's life, from the funeral home on Friday December 13, 2002 at 11 a.m. Rev. Lark Kim officiating. Interment McDowell cemetery , Comber. Baines, Isobel Marjory

BAINES - ISOBEL MARJORY February 17, 1923 - May 12, 2003 Peacefully, with her family at her side, at LHG Palliative Care Unit, Sarnia. Beloved wife of Graydon. Dear mother of daughter Hillary Work (Garry), and son Reed. Loving grandmother of Rene Work, Kelly Baines (Heather) and Kiersten Baines. She will be greatly missed by great-grandson Brendan. Predeceased by her parents Jessie (1951) & Alexander (1967) Duthie and brothers Joseph (1925) & George (1984). Belle as she was known to her friends, grew up in Toronto where she met and married Graydon on July 17, 1943 before moving to Corunna in 1952. She worked at Sears for a time, then the Chamber of Commerce, Sarnia for 15 years. Later she along with Ray Jenkins were largely instrumental in the creation of the Economic Development Commission and worked as Assistant Commissioner for 8 years. She retired in 1988, obtained her Real Estate license, and worked with Remax Reality until 1996. Belle and Graydon are active members of St. George's Anglican Church. Belle was made a Paul Harris Fellow and honourary member of the Sarnia Rotary Club for her very active involvement, with Graydon, in the Sarnia Rotary Club. She tackled projects head-on and exuded enthusiasm in all she took on, whether it be with her family, church, occupation, even her friends. She was never satisfied to just to a task, it had to be done perfectly and beyond what was expected. Her high sense of organization was felt in all she did, personal or professional; always giving of herself. Belle will be missed for her significant contribution to the community throughout the years. Visitation will be held 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 431 N. Christina St., Sarnia. Funeral Service in celebration of Belle's life will be held Friday 11 a.m. at St. George's Anglican Church. Cremation to follow with interment at a later date. Bowring - Tanner, Dr. Linda

BOWRING-TANNER - Died peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer, at her residence on July 5, 2003. DR. LINDA BOWRING, age 55. Devoted wife of Mike Tanner. Loving mother of Sarah Bouma & husband Kyle, Hamilton, Kate and Amy, Sarnia. Dear daughter of Joan Bowring, Sarnia. Predeceased by father Kenneth Bowring. Dr. Bowring was head of Continuing Care of the Lambton Hospitals Group and was instrumental in setting up the Palliative Care program in Sarnia-Lambton for over 20 years. Sarnia became a recognized model for Palliative Care in Canada. For her efforts Dr. Bowring was awarded the Dorothy Ley Award in 2001 by the Ontario Palliative Care Association. Linda was a devoted member of St. Bartholomew's Anglican Church, Choir and A.C.W. and an active member of the Sarnia Cursillo Community. Linda loved her family, her garden and the birds therein and hosting parties for her many friends. Special thanks to Linda's Ladies, Dr. Wayne Rankin and the special care group. As an expression of sympathy friends who wish may send memorial donations to the Dr. Linda Bowring Music Therapy Program or the Training Palliative Care Physician Program, c/o Lambton Hospitals Foundation, 89 Norman St. Sarnia, N7T 6S3.
