John Wilson

passed away at the Trillium Health Centre Mississauga Site on Wednesday, March 21. John, loving husband of 64 years to Mildred. He will be sadly missed by his sons Wayne and his wife Kaye, Bob & his wife Gerri, his many family, friends and his son Bryan & his wife Margaret. A private family service was held at Ridley Funeral Home.

Leo Poldo Lister

Peacefully on Saturday, 31 March 2007 at Toronto Grace Hospital in his 84th year. Loving husband of Hedvika for 51 years. Dear Dad of Darinka (John) and Irma (Jean). Proud Grandpa/Nono of Mark, Jason, Tanya and Lindsay. Beloved brother of Joe in Australia and Slavka in Slovenija. Fondly remembered by many family and friends. Friends will be received at the Ridley Funeral Home, 3080 Lake Shore Blvd. W. (between Islington and Kipling Aves., at 14th St., 416-259-3705) on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church (739 Brown s Line in Etobicoke) at 10 a.m. Interment at Assumption cemetery. If desired, donations in Leo s memory may be made to Dom Lipa Slovenian Nursing Home. The family would like to extend their deepest and most heartfelt thanks to the staff and volunteers at Toronto Grace Hospital.

Doris Helen Smylski (nee Puchalski)

passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at St. Joseph s Health Centre in her 92nd year. Beloved wife of the late Dr. Peter Smylski for 60 years. Born in Cobalt, Ontario, daughter of the late Nicholas and Vaselina Puchalski. Loving mother of Thomas, Peter (Oksana), Doris Ann (Myron Masnyk) and Nadia (Don Lawrence) and loving Baba of Anton and Tereza. Dear sister-in-law to Bernice and Walter Lemiski and Helen Smith. Loving auntie of many nieces and nephews and dearest cousin of Joan and Gerald Fedak. Mother was a kind, empathetic and gracious lady who always welcomed family and friends to the family home or to the farm in Winona (Lochside). She loved playing her piano, loved her gardens and her sewing. While in Hamilton, she taught Sunday school for many years, golfed and curled. Always supportive of her husband s professional pursuits in Oral Surgery and volunteer activities, together they hosted numerous picnics for the Hamilton and Niagara Dental Association. In Toronto, Mom was an active volunteer at the AGO, and a long-time supporter of the Ukrainian Museum of Canada (Ontario Branch) and many other ladies organizations. She was a great wife, great mom we ll miss her. Special thanks to Anna Pytel and the Team 8 nurses from Care Partners for assisting mom these past few years. Friends will be received at the Ridley Funeral Home, 3080 Lake Shore Blvd. W. (between Islington and Kipling Aves., at 14th St., 416-259-3705) on Monday from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 p.m. Panakhyda Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. The Orthodox Rite of Funeral will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at St. Demetrius Ukrainian Orthodox Church (3338 Lake Shore Blvd. W.). Interment St. Volodymyr cemetery , Oakville. Donations to St. Vladimir Institute or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.

John Michael Shields

passed away peacefully in his sleep after a lengthy illness on Thursday, April 5, 2007 at the age of 67. Beloved husband and best friend of Olga. He will be missed by his brother James and many other family and friends. Friends will be received at the Ridley Funeral Home, 3080 Lake Shore Blvd. W. (between Islington and Kipling Aves., at 14th St., 416-259-3705) on Tuesday from 1 to 3pm. Funeral Service to follow in the Chapel at 3pm. Cremation. Robert Rowell
WWII Veteran, 48th Highlanders

Peacefully on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 87. He now joins his beloved wife Lowella after 60 years of marriage. Loving and proud father to Karen, son-in-law Peter, granddaughter Sandra and partner Daryl. Predeceased by his parents, Fredrick and Marion, stepmother Gertrude, his brothers, Joseph, Fredrick and Herbert. WWII Veteran, 48th Highlanders, Nobly served our country at home. Member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #101. Retired employee of Colgate Palmolive after 49 years of service. He was a kind spirit who chose only to see the good in people. He was loved and will be sadly missed by all his family members, friends and neighbours. Friends will be received at the Ridley Funeral Home, 3080 Lake Shore Blvd. W. (between Islington and Kipling Aves., at 14th St., 416-259-3705) on Saturday, April 14, 2007 from 1pm to 2pm. A Memorial Service will follow in the Chapel at 2pm. (Past Grand Knight, Knights of Columbus, Sheptytsky Council) Peacefully on Thursday, April 12, 2007 at McCall Centre for Continuing Care, Ernie, in his 76th year, beloved husband of the late Sophie. Dear father to Darlene, Jeannie and the late Robert and grandfather to Kimberley, Derek and Jacob. Also survived by his great grandson Benjamin, and sister Josie Koroluk of Edmonton, Alberta. Kathleen Mallon

passed away on Friday, April 13, 2007 in her 97th year. Beloved wife of the late John. Loving mother to Patricia Hutton, Rose Mary Sullivan (Frank), Kathy Scott and the late Shelagh. Loving grandmother to 16 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Kathleen will be sadly missed by many relatives and friends. Funeral Mass on Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at 10am at St. Mark s Catholic Church (277 Park Lawn Rd.). Interment Assumption Catholic cemetery. Dora Gorley Iwasuk (nee Obertenski)

It is with great sadness that the family of Dora Iwasuk announce her passing on Monday, April 16, 2007, in her 96th year. Loving mother to Lillian Bodnar and Frances (Don Widner). She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Michael, Greg, Donny and great grandchildren Andrew and Sara. Survived by many relatives and friends in the Ukraine. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Norm, Gloria, Mary, the staff at the VON and the McCall Centre for their support and care. Anne May Timleck

In her 86th year. Predeceased by her husband William (Bill/Tim). Survived by her children Bonny, Tony, Jim, Michael, Linda and Christine. She will be sadly missed by her 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Anne is also survived by her brother Bill and his wife Jean of London, England. Anne was a longtime employee of the Campbell Soup Company as well as a Lion s member and a dedicated supporter of the Conservative Party. In keeping with Anne s wishes there was cremation followed by a private family service. Peacefully on Sunday, April 22, 2007 with his family by his side at the age of 57. Loving husband of Barbara. Much loved dad to Denise (David) and Jeff (Savanah). Adoring poppy to Courtney, Emily and Keira. Dennis will be missed by his mother, brother s, sister s and a multitude of family and friends. Peacefully, in his 93rd year, on Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at St. Joseph s Health Centre, Toronto after a short illness. Beloved husband for 66 years of Marian. Loving father to Janet Dewan (Shashi) and Barbara Tangney (Bud). A gentle man and a gentleman.
