DOUGLAS - At her residence in Toronto, Ontario on Wednesday, February 6, 2002. Mrs. Irene (Birrell) Douglas, formerly of St. Thomas and London, beloved wife of the late Earl Douglas (1989). Born in Pinkerton, Greenock Twp., Bruce County, Ontario, daughter of the late Wesley and Ethel (Pinkerton) Birrell. Dearly loved mother of Miss J.M. Alexandra Douglas of Toronto. Step-mother of Mrs. Herbert Daryl Morgan of Port Dover. Dear sister of Mrs. Elizabeth Williams of London. Also survived by 2 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two sisters, Mrs. Bernice Zavitz and Mrs. Grace Radford and by a brother, Harold Birrell. Friends will be received at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas on Saturday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. The funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of the Bayfield cemetery , Bayfield, Ontario on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.

MITCHELL - With her family at her side at St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital on Tuesday, February 5, 2002. Mary Grace Mitchell of Terrace Lodge, Aylmer in her 88th year. Beloved wife of the late Murray Mitchell (1995). Dear sister-in-law of Nettie Mitchell of Aylmer and Edith Howey of Aylmer. Loving Aunt of Violet Hill of Aylmer, Don Pressey and wife Dorothy of Aylmer, Jean Harrett of R. R. #1, Aylmer, Joyce Killough and husband John of R.R. #4, Aylmer, Gerald Howey and wife Phyllis of Aylmer, Phyllis Coon and husband Bob of Clarkston Michigan, Douglas Howey of London and Reta Pressey of Aylmer. Predeceased by her brothers Clair and Clifton Pressey and sisters Ruby Follick and Della Howey. Born in Malahide Township on September 27, 1914, daughter of the late Philip and Eliza (Phillimore) Pressey. Mary was a lifelong resident of Malahide Township and the last surviving member of her family. Friends may call at the H.A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Friday, February 8, 2002, at 1:30 p.m. Interment , Aylmer cemetery. Rev. Kelvin Toffelmire, officiating. Donations to the Terrace Lodge Auxiliary of the Palliative Care of St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital would be appreciated.

QUITTENTON - After a life long battle with lung disease, Esther passed away at her home in Edmonton, Alberta, on February 5, 2002. Esther was born in St. Thomas, on November 15, 1954. She is survived by her mother, Ruth Williams of St. Thomas, her father Doug Williams and his partner Diane Stafford also of St. Thomas. As well, a sister Diana and her husband Lee Player, and a brother Mel Williams and his wife Brenda, all of St. Thomas. Special Auntie to Christopher Player, his wife Angela and children Devon and Katelyn, and to Leeanna Player and her fianc Paul Jordan. Remembered by a number of aunts, uncles and cousins. Services incomplete. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Thames Valley Children Centre of Children s Miracle Network through Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas.

CAMPBELL - Irene of St. Thomas, a retired Secretary, passed away at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital on Tuesday, February 7, 2002. She was born in North Yarmouth and was the daughter of the late Albert D. and Margaret (Paterson) Campbell. Miss Campbell was employed for a number of years at the Workmen s Compensation Board in Toronto before transferring to the St. Thomas Psychiatric Hospital as a Medical Secretary and later retiring from the same. She was a member of the Ontario Quarter Century Club. Loved aunt of Donna and her husband Doug Penhale of R.R.8 St. Thomas and Keith Campbell of R.R.8 of St. Thomas. Dear great aunt Lisa and her husband Ryk Snetselaar, Cathy and her husband Dave Humphreys and David Penhale and dear great, great aunt of Megan and Mark Snetselaar. Predeceased by a brother Lorne A. Campbell (1984) and a sister-in-law Nora Campbell (Feb.2000). She was the last of her family. Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas where funeral service will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. Interment in St. Thomas cemetery. Visitation Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of choice.

CONRADE - Curtis Thomsley of Toronto and formerly of St. Thomas, on Sunday, February 3, 2002, at the Trillium Health Centre, Mississauga, in his 75th year. Predeceased by his father Curtis Abel Conrad and his loving mother Sarah Ann (Gerrard) Conrad. Loved brother of Connie and her husband Donald Enman of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Calvin Conrad of St. Thomas, Cameron and his wife Sharon Conrad of Kitchener and Carol and her husband Gary Mailing of Union. Sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Curtis was a successful land developer in Mississauga and was still actively working in the Toronto area. He was a generous benefactor throughout his life to a number of charities. Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas where funeral service will be held Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Roger Landell of First United Church officiating. Cremation to follow, with burial of ashes in Elmdale cemetery. Visitation Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Remembrances may be made to the charity of choice.

LINDSAY - At her residence on Thursday, February 7, 2002. Erie Belle Evangeline Lindsay of Terrace Lodge, Aylmer in her 94th year. Beloved wife of the late Melvin Lindsay (2000). Loving mother of Kenneth Lindsay and wife Maria of Woodstock and Marilyn Gillett and husband Robert of Tillsonburg. Dear aunt to Jim Brackenbury and wife Dorothy of Aylmer. Also survived by 4 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brothers Roy, Frank, Leo, Lloyd, Sam, Bruce and Wallace Brackenbury, sisters Jessie Stephens and Eva Franklin. Born in Malahide Township on December 23, 1908 daughter of the late James and Anne (Curtis) Brackenbury. She was a lifelong resident of the Aylmer district and a member of the Aylmer Baptist Church, the W. A., the Willing Workers and the Mission Circle. Friends may call at the H. A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Friday 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2002 at 1:30 p.m. Interment , Aylmer cemetery.
