HOOPER, Ruth Margaret (Marg) Peacefully at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie, on Tuesday, August 19th, 2003, in her 91st year. She will be lovingly missed by her daughter Karen Robinson and her husband Cam of R.R. #1, Owen Sound, her brother Alan Marco and wife Beatrice of Richford, Vermont, numerous nieces and nephews, and many cherished friends. Marg was predeceased by her devoted husband Alvin Hooper in November 1965, and brothers Dwight Marco ( Enfield, Connecticut ), and Carl Marco ( Red Deer, Alberta ). Marg loved life but more importantly she loved people. A simple, thrifty, spirited woman, she had her own standards and ideals that she lived by. Happiest when serving the needs of others, she constantly surrounded herself with people and thus became the unofficial matriarch of Nantyr Park – a community she called home since 1949. While Alvin ran his contracting business, she operated the Nantyr General Store (1949 – 1961) and watched her community grow and prosper. As a real estate agent, she helped individuals make their dreams a reality in Innisfil. After Alvin ’s sudden death in 1965, she worked at Craig Hunter Poultry Farm and then at the Barrie St. Vincent de Paul Store to provide for herself and her only daughter. A proud, independent and feisty lady, she will be missed by many. Marg was proud to be a member of the Rebekah Lodge, Lefroy United Church, and the Alcona Lakeland Seniors Groups.
