McEACHERN, NEIL FREDERICK DOUGLAS

Peacefully on Monday July 26, 2004 at the General & Marine Hospital, Collingwood at the age of 69. Doug of Wasaga Beach, beloved husband of Patricia. Dear father of Doug Jr., Donnell, Debra, Cathy, Cory and Brady and their families and step-father of Colleen Mandzie, Mark Bailey and Steven Bailey and their families. He will be sadly missed by all his grandchildren and his dear friend and Brother Malcolm Browne.

Friends will be received at Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home from 1 p.m. Thursday July 29th for the Funeral Service in the Chapel at 2 o'clock.

WALKER, HUGH CLEMENT

passed away suddenly on Saturday September 25, 2004 at the General & Marine Hospital, Collingwood at the age of 68. Hugh, of Stayner, beloved husband of Margaret. Loving father of Ronald, Hugh, Phyllis (Richard) Hiscott and Constance (Corrado) DeLuca. Grandpa of Andrew, Geoffrey and Lisa Hiscott, and Marie and Katherine DeLuca. Also survived by his siblings Lorne, Andrew, Cyril and Cynthia. Predeceased by his parents Andrew and Mary and brother Ronald.

Friends will be received at the Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Tuesday September 28, 2004 at 1 o'clock. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date for family and friends who are unable to attend.

DAVIES, ANNA KIM

Suddenly as a result of a tragic accident, doing what she loved on Saturday September 25, 2004 diving in Milford Bay, Lake Muskoka. Kim of Willow Beach, loving partner of Neil MacMillan. Dear mother of Justin and Jason Walker of Everett, Blair Wilton of Wasaga Beach and Amy Wilton of Guelph whom she loved as a daughter. Kim will be sadly missed by her many dear friends.

Friends will be received at the Carruthers & Davidson Funeral Home from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday. The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Thursday September 30, 2004 at 1 o'clock.

ROSS, MISS MARGUERITE

In loving memory of Miss Marguerite Ross, born June 2, 1909. passed away Monday September 27th in her 96th year. A native of Stayner, to her sisters and brothers on Weir Street she was "Biddie". To her friends she was "Maggie", to many she was a steady influence in any time of stress. As one of her close friends said: "She was our rock". Marguerite attended Stayner Continuation School and later graduated from Toronto General Hospital Nursing School in 1932. With many positions scarce she was hired by University Hospital in Syracuse, New York. During W.W.II she was in the U.S. Army with the nursing unit sent by the hospital and was stationed in England for several years. She was automatically made a U.S. citizen after her service overseas but in her mind she was always a proud Canadian of County Cork Irish stock. Taking advantage of the G.I. Bill of Rights she furthered her education graduating from Syracuse University "Magna Cum Laude". She then became an Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Nursing at the University Nursing School. After retirement she returned to Collingwood and lived several years in Cranberry Village then later in Sunset Village and yet later moved to Sunset manor where she enjoyed excellent loving care. Marguerite is predeceased by three sisters and two brothers: Mary Stoner, Olive Pogue, Kathleen Haley, James and Bill Ross. She is survived by nephews Brian Ross of Tobermory and Robert Stoner of Clinton.

The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel at Sunset Manor, 49 Raglan Street, Collingwood Friday October 1, 2004 at 1:30 p.m.

MADDEN, JOHN (RED)

Peacefully, on Saturday, October 2nd 2004, at the Sara Vista Nursing Centre in Elmvale, John (Red) Madden formerly of Phelpston in his 90th year. Loved son of the late James and Marrieta Madden. Brother of the late Hugh, Owen, Emma and Margaret Madden. Loved uncle of Joe and Anne Madden of Richmond Hill.

Loving father of Sara, Sandra and step-father of Chris and Madalina. Frank will also be missed by his grandchildren, his four sisters and one brother.

Loving mother of Donna and the late Douglas Martin of Newmarket and Stuart and Valerie of Toronto. Dear grandmother of Larry and Joanne Martin. Predeceased by her siblings Reginald, Nelson and Jean.

COLUMBUS, JO ANNE (nee Faiazza)

passed away on August 23, 2004, in her 80th year, peacefully after a long and difficult journey. Beloved wife of the late Ambrose. H. (Chris) Columbus (1998), loving mother of Dr. Kevin Columbus (Comox, B.C.), Keith Columbus and his wife Mary (Anten Mills, Ont.) and Laurie Columbus (Ridgeway, Ont.). Beloved grandmother of Kevin, Alison, Laura and Katie. Dear sister of Mary (Don) Graham, Barbara (Jim) Wilkie and Vicki (Jack) Cox and pre-deceased by brother Peter and sisters Florence, Madeline and Deanna. Jo Anne will be sadly missed by her dear friends Vivian, Sylvia, Rita and Paula and several nieces and nephews. Jo Anne was the founding member and chair of the Point Abino Lighthouse Preservation Society (PALPS) and the first female reporter for the Fort Erie Times Review (1946) and continued writing a column until 2002. She was an active member of the Catholic Women's League (CWL) for 60 years having devoted endless hours in volunteer work for the needy for many parishes in Niagara Falls.

A Mass in celebration of Jo Anne's life will be held at a later date at St. George's Church in Crystal Beach with details to follow.
