Peacefully at Victoria Manor, Lindsay, Ontario, on Wednesday, May 11, 2005 in her 82nd year. Beloved wife of the late Robert Wilson. Dear mother of Terry Wilson (Lucie), Carol Dunphy (Raymond) all of Peterborough, Kelvin Wilson (Susan) of Ottawa. Loving grandmother of six grandchildren and great-grandmother of two. Daughter of the late Robert and Eva Vincent. Also survived by family in England. Friends and relatives are invited to attend a graveside service at the Deep River Community cemetery on Friday, May 27, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. Reverend Ruth Syme officiating. Arrangements entrusted to Kaye Funeral Home "Memorial Chapel" 539 George Street N. Peterborough.

SMALL, Helvi

In her 91st year Helvi Small a long time resident of Deep River (predeceased by husband Tom Small) passed away in Ottawa, April 16th, 2005. Survived by her children, Douglas Small (Lorraine) and Carol Rosko of Ottawa, Lorna Jones (Peter) of Mississauga. Will be missed by grandchildren Leslie, Jeffrey, David, Kelly, Jamie, Lisa and Steven, also seven great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the Deep River Community Church, Saturday, May 21, 2005 at 2 pm. Interment at Deep River cemetery

ATFIELD, Marie Marguerite Louise

Peacefully, at home with her family on May 12, 2005 after a long battle with cancer. Louise Atfield, age 56 years. Beloved wife of Michael Atfield and loving mother of Alex, Philip, Marika and Julian. Fille bien-aimée de Marcel et Irene Racicot de Montréal; soeur de Josée (décédée), Jean-Pierre, Josette et François, PQ. Remembered for her exuberance, passion and rebellious sense of justice. Louise loved this area and this community. She was active in many community groups, wrote the Match-Up column in the North Renfrew Times, and was known for pioneering homeschooling in this area. Cremation. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, May 19th at the Deep River Community Church. Short anecdotes and stories will be welcome.

WILCOX, Irvine James "Tink"
1946-2005

passed away suddenly at St. Joseph's Hospital, Comox, on Sunday, May 1st, 2005. Predeceased by his parents Gladys and Lester Wilcox. He is survived by his son Chris; grandchildren Conner and Peyton; brothers: Elmer, Barry, Brian and James: extended family and numerous friends. The family would like to thank the hospital staff for their care and compassion. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered. A Memorial Service will be arranged for a later date. Loving grandfather of 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Georgette Gendron of Sturgeon Falls. Predeceased by two sons Michael and David Crispin, four brothers and one sister. Friends called at the Valley Funeral Home, Deep River on Saturday from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Cherished grandmother of Christopher, Catherine, and Stephanie Doary; Charlane Blake; Sylvia Ramona, Elsa and Klaus Nichterwitz, and five great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Richard Stanczyk of Aigre, France and Marie Stanczyk of Aurith, Germany. Also survived by a sister-in-law Eva Nichterwitz, a brother-in-law Alfred Nichterwitz and his wife Elizabeth all of Germany, and several nieces and nephews. Loving mother of Wesley Stewart and his partner Cesar Juarez of Toronto, Donna Stewart, Kevin Stewart and his wife Carolle all of Deep River, Elizabeth Murray and her husband Douglas of Newcastle, and Laurie Blimke and her husband Randy of Millbrook. Cherished grandmother of eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Dear sister of Vincent McAuley and his wife Jean of North Bay, Jim McAuley and his wife Clara, Lloyd McAuley and his wife Wendy, Edna Elliott and her husband Lew all of Deep River, and Vivian Adams and her husband Henry of Sarnia. Also survived by a daughter-in-law Lucille Stewart of Richmond Hill, and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a son James Stewart, three brothers Clarence, Donald and Allan (Bud) McAuley and a sister Dorothy Stagg. OWENS, Michael Lawrence

OWENS, Michael Lawrence age 77 years, passed away suddenly at sea on July 15th, 2005, while in the company of his immediate family during a 50th wedding anniversary Alaskan cruise. In his own words, this trip with his family was "the highlight of my life". He will remain forever in the hearts of his beloved wife of 50 years, Agnes: his devoted children Michael, Nancy, Betty Ann and Bernie; his sons-in-law Paul and Bruce and daughters-in-law Rosemary and Judy; his pride of grandchildren Jillian, Cameron, Christopher, Jamie, Tyler, Maya and Delaney. Mike is also survived by his sister, Laura Lachance, and two brothers, Pat and Ossie Owens. Born in Chalk River, Ontario, Mike lived an exceptional life and will always be remembered with great love for his sense of fun, humour and spirit, his kind heart and his strong sense of integrity. Mike loved life, lived it to its fullest and gave us all wonderful examples of how to live our lives in honest and principled ways. He reminded us that family should always be the number one priority in our lives. During his lifetime, Mike embarked on a number of careers, first working for the CPR, then joining the Canadian Navy (Naval Air) where he remained for 22 years and where he developed many life-long friendships. Upon leaving the services, Mike enjoyed a career in computer programming, working first at Transport Canada and then at Agriculture Canada in Ottawa, Ontario. Mike retired as Director of Computer Systems at Agriculture Canada in the mid 1980's. A Visitation was held from 12:00 to 3:00 pm on Friday, July 22, 2005 at Yates Funeral Home, Parksville, B.C. Prayers were held at 5:00 pm at the Church of the Ascension, Parksville, B.C. This was followed by a second Visitation at the Church until 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass was held at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 23, 2005 at the Church of the Ascension, 887 Wembley Road, Parksville, B.C. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. In celebration of the Owens family's Catholic faith, Mass cards would also be appreciated. Yates Funeral Service & Crematorium (1-877-264-3848) in care of arrangements.

Predeceased by two brothers Rudolph and Joseph Soikie and three sisters Genevieve Chapeski, Annamary Charles and Marcella Mask.
