At the Civic Hospital on Sunday, March 16, 2008, at the age of 94. Beloved husband of the late Edith Goldschmidt. Loving father of Dr. Uriel Oko and Mrs. Nickie Ages ( Joseph). Cherished grandfather of Amy Vera Zuckerman, Abigail McGeean, Leah Oko Kratz amd great grandfather of Sophie Katz. Bear brother of Sophie Manneberg of Israel. He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. David was an avid chess player and long-time member of the Ottawa Chess Club. A Graveside Service was held at the Jewish Community Cemetery, Osgoode, on Monday, March 17, 2008.

No longer will you suffer the agonizing pain that you endured for so long. On Saturday, March 15, 2008 at the age of 78. He is survived by the mother of their children Elva (nee Sparling). Loving father of Sandra, Heather, Bonnie(Kenny), Donna(Howard) and David(Diane). Cherished grandfather of Ken Jr., Charlie, Savannah, Dana, Jesse, Codie, Brittany, Tiffany, Damon and Shayna. Beloved son of the late Vera McLelland and Elijah Peck. Survived by his siblings, Greta, Velma, Doreen, Betty, Sylvia, Gail, Raymond, Gerald and Steven. Much loved grandfather of Will, Jane, and Molly Reisman; Edie- Jane and Stephen Kalman; Trish, Julia, Aaron and Kate Barrett. Predeceased by brother, Mark Reisman (Rose); he is survived by his sisters, Gertrude Shapiro and Helen Lutterman (Ernest) and their families. Born in Montreal June 19, 1919 to Kolman and Manya Reisman. Attended Baron Byng High School, McGill University (BA, MA). Served overseas as Regimental Officer in WW II RCA, 11th, 15th and 17th Field Artillery (Troop Commander) in Italy and Holland 1942-1946. Attended the London School of Economics 1945-46. Joined the Department of Finance 1946, Director of International Economic Relations Division; Canadian Delegation to Geneva Trade and Tariff Conference 1947; World Conference on Trade and Employment, Havana, 1947-1948; Economics and Social Council, UN, Geneva, 1952, New York, 1953; first and following sessions of GATT 1947-1954; Assistant Director of Research, Royal Commission on Canada’s Economic Prospects 1955-1957; Assistant Deputy Minister, Department of Finance 1961-1964; Deputy Minister of Industry 1964-1968 during which time was chief architect of the Canada-US Auto Pact; Secretary of the Treasury Board 1968-1970; Deputy Minister of Finance 1970-1975; received Outstanding Public Service Award, Canada, 1974; Chief Royal Commissioner to investigate Canadian Auto Industry 1978; Chief Negotiator for Canada Aboriginal Land Claims for the Western Arctic, 1983; Ambassador (Trade) and Chief Negotiator Canada-US Free Trade Agreement 1985-1988. Honorary Doctorate, Carleton University, 1998; Honoured by the naming of the Simon Reisman Chair on Trade Policy, Carleton University, 2000. Avid salmon fisherman; was able to fish white water until July 2007; embraced reading and life-long learning; continuous observer and commentator of world current events; active participant in the Rideau Club Roundtable; always interested in people and their lives, and an unending curiosity about what made them tick; social and extroverted, a dry sense of humour right up to the time of his final CT scan; mentally sharp to the very end; unlike his reputation of being tough and hard-boiled, he was always ready to lend a hand; a most loving, inspirational, devoted, supportive, generous and loyal father and grandfather. " Touched By An Angel" Out little Princess Piper came into this world with very limited time because of her medical condition. In the short time Piper was with us she spoke volumes without ever uttering a word. Lucky are we whose lives were touched and changed forever by knowing and loving her. Piper, Robyn said "you are in a better place." I know he is right. I miss you baby girl. Please look after me and give me strength to go on. It is with great sadness in our hearts that we announce that at 58 years, Gary's struggle with cancer has come to an end peacefully at home in the arms of his family. Gary will be deeply missed by his wife and best friend of 30 years Janet (nee Walker) and three loving daughters, Jennifer, Katie and Laura. Gary is survived by his mother Eleanor (nee Platt), predeceased by his father Thomas Edward. Also left to grieve are siblings Claire Davis (Jack) and Dianne, favorite mother-in-law Thelma MacCaskill and sisters-in-law Judy Walker (Eric) and Heather Callahan (Jim), uncles and aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends and neighbours. Gary will be remembered for his incredible courage and strength given his unthinkable and terminal diagnosis. He never thought it was his job to tell others how to live, but by example he taught us all about what mattered in life and to live it to its fullest. Many thanks to all who cared for Gary during the past year. We are especially thankful for Dr. Hurdon's wonderful, compassion and care, and to the nurses at Bayshore Home Health and CCAC who helped ensure his comfort to the end. A Memorial Service will be held at Woodroffe United Church, 207 Woodroffe Avenue on Saturday, March 1st, 2008 at 1 p.m., followed by a reception. Interment to follow in the spring. Iola passed away at the Perley and Rideau Veterans' Health Centre in Ottawa on Monday, March, 10, 2008, at 95 years of age. This gregarious lady lived a life rooted in deep faith, music, friends and family, and she relished her role as family elder until silenced by a stroke several years ago. Iola was predeceased by her beloved husband, Corporal Allan Rostetter. The daughter of the late Caroline Cutts and the late Harold G. Clark of Rideau Park/Leitrim, Iola survived all of her siblings: James Irvine (the late Joy), Gwen Tucker (the late Reginald), and Harold (Lois), Fred (Evelyn), Arthur (Thelma), Douglas (Beverley) and Ronald (Bev) Clark. Iola will be remembered by her sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, on Wednesday, March 19, from 11:00 a.m. until service time in the chapel at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place in St. George's Hawthorne Cemetery, Ramsayville, in the spring.
