Nora Berg
Feb 22, 1926 - Feb 02, 2009

Central Butte, Saskatchewan

In her 82nd year, Nora Berger passed peacefully in the loving embrace of her children February 2, 2009 at Cypress Regional Hospital , Swift Current. She is predeceased by her husband of 40 years John Berger, her parents Henry and Eva Smale, brothers: Karl, Lloyd, Elmer, Elwyn; and sisters Faye and Thelma. She is survived by sisters Valerie and Betty, and sisters-in-law Margaret and Lois Smale. To celebrate her life, Nora leaves her five children, Charles (Monique) Berger, Brenda (Gordon) Gannon, Shelley (Bill) Rowein, Kim (Loretta) Berger, and Monty (Sandra) Berger. Also celebrating her life are nine grandchildren: Connie, Scarlet, Shane, Billy, Charlie, Becky, Jody, Bobby, and Alissa; two step-grandchildren: Ashley and Sara, and eight great-grandchildren: Brandon , Montana , Mathew, Morgan, Hunter, Lucas, Rhett, and Evaya. Nora was born and raised McCord , SK. Following employment in Assiniboia and Moose Jaw , she met and married the love of her life John Berger. Nora was a loving wife, dedicated mother and a very great cook, as can be attested by all who enjoyed her hospitality. In addition, Nora will be well remembered for her creative talents and abilities – especially regarding gardening, poetic prose, oil painting, and crocheting. She was an avid reader. She especially enjoyed her reputation as a particularly successful bingo player and very able card player. Nora will be sorrowfully missed by all. Family and friends take comfort in the fond memories and the way she so positively impacted their lives. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Christ the Redeemer Church in Swift Current on Friday February 6, 2009 at 10:00 am An Evening Prayer Service will be held at the Church on Thursday at 8:00 pm. Interment will take place at the Central Butte Memorial Cemetery . A special “thank you” is extended to the dedicated and adept physicians, nurses, and staff at both the Cypress Regional Hospital and Home Care Services. Memorials in Nora’s memory may be made to the Cypress Regional Hospital, 2004 Saskatchewan Drive, Swift Current, S9H 5M8, or to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1220A, 1150 Central Ave. N., Swift Current, S9H 4C8, would be appreciated. In living memory of Nora, a tree will be planted in Besant Park by Prairie Memorial Funeral Home.

Nellie Knapper

Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan

NELLIE KNAPPER passed away peacefully on August 7, 2007. Nellie was the beloved wife on Tom for over 65 wonderful years. She was born in Redcar, Yorkshire, England and immigrated to Canada in her teens. She met and married Tom in 1942 and returned to England then returned to settle in Moose Jaw and raised their family. She will be dearly missed by her husband, Tom; children: Joyce St. Germain – Campbell River, BC, Brenda (Wayne) Zaharia – Surrey, BC, Linda Brentnell and Tom Knapper – Moose Jaw. Family was very important to Nellie and was well loved by her ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the health care providers at Regina General Hospital, Moose Jaw Union Hospital, and the staff at Chateau St. Michael for their care and attention. A Celebration of Nellie’s Life will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E, Moose Jaw on Monday, August 13, 2007 at 11a.m. followed by the committal service at Rosedale Cemetery. Dave Moore will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials for the Alzheimer Association, #301 – 2550 – 12th Ave., Regina, SK., S4P 3X1 would be appreciated. In living memory of Nellie, a tree will be planted by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

Dennis Morrison

Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan

Dennis Morrison, passed away peacefully at home on August 11, 2007. Dennis was born in Moose Jaw on March 18, 1947. He attended Victoria School, Peacock High School, and took a cabinet making course at Kelsey Institute in Saskatoon. Dennis was in the Navy from 1964 to 1967 and worked for three years in BC before moving to Mortlach where he became the Custodian for the school. Dennis served on the Mortlach Recreation Board for a number of years and coached hockey. He moved to Moose Jaw in September 2006 due to illness. Predeceased by his parents, Bill and Betty; mother and father-in-law, Bill and Joyce Drullette; and brother-in-law, Brian Drullette, Dennis is survived by his wife, Darlene; children: Sandy (Frank) – Rocky Mountain House, AB, Leanne (Rick) – Abbey, SK, Dwayne (Lori-Anne) – Saskatoon, and Danaye (Scott) – Moose Jaw; grandchildren: Brooke; Joel, Bret and Evan; Kristina, Ryan and Riley; Ashley (Jamie), Landon and Kelsey; five brothers: John (Eileen), Jim, Bob, David (Sheila), and Glen (Gwen); sisters-in-law, Val (Wayne) and Sheila (Gene); and numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Dennis’ life will be held at W.J.Jones & Son Chapel on Wednesday August 15, 2007 at 3:30 pm. Della Ferguson will be the Celebrant. Memorialization will take place at a later date. Memorials to the Canadian Cancer Society, 61B Ross St.W., Moose Jaw, S6H 2M2, would be appreciated. In living memory of Dennis, a tree will be planted by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

Helen Anderson
Aug 15, 1916 - Aug 12, 2007

Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan

HELEN ANDERSON (nee: McIntyre) born August 15, 1916, passed away peacefully in Moose Jaw Union Hospital on August 12, 2007. Predeceased by her husband, Albert (Bert) Anderson, her brother, Horace (Mac) McIntyre; sisters: Arlene (Lawrence) Henderson and Jean (Bob) Anderson. Helen is survived by her children: Lynn (Ted) Jest of Vancouver, BC, Mac (Lori) Anderson of Moose Jaw and her two granddaughters: Christa (Aaron) Vassie of Okotoks, AB, and Sarah Anderson of Moose Jaw. Upon graduation from Central Collegiate, Helen continued her studies at the Normal School (now SIAST) where she was also employed for many years. Helen and Bert were married in 1942; Helen always spoke fondly of their time together in the Queen Charlotte Islands before Bert returned overseas as a Canloan Officer. She held dear to her heart her childhood friends whom she remained in contact with throughout her 90 years. Having lived on 7th Avenue N.W. for 58 years, she touched the lives of many neighbours and carried on that neighbourly tradition with constant visits from her grandchildren and their friends. Helen was a member of the Moose Jaw Public Library since 1929 and read thousands of books. Her brilliant mind and wisdom remained with her right up to the time of her passing. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 16, 2007 at 3:30 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Della Ferguson will be the celebrant. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Moose Jaw Public Library, 461 Langdon Crescent, Moose Jaw, S6H 0X6 would be greatly appreciated. In living memory of Helen, a tree will be planted by W. Tim Renner

TIMOTHY “TIM” C. RENNER of Moose Jaw passed away on Sunday, August 12, 2007 at the age of 52 years. Born February 17, 1955 in Moose Jaw, Tim was employed for 25 years with the Canadian Forces. After his retirement from the Canadian Forces, he was employed at Walmart as support Manager then as Sports and Facilities Coordinator for Personnel Support Programs. Predeceased by his father, Allie Wynandts; step-father, Ozzie Renner; father-in-law, Frank Evans; Tim is survived by his wife of 32 years, Mary “Mare” of Moose Jaw; daughter, Kelly Renner of Moose Jaw and son, Michael (Tammy) of Moose Jaw; grandchildren Alyssa and Steven, mother, Vicki Renner of Regina; brothers Mark (Lavaughn) and family of Corpus Christi, Texas and Darryl (Shelley) and family of Regina; mother-in-law, Ada Evans of Moose Jaw and brother-in-law, Frank (Vicky) Evans and family of Edmonton, as well as many other extended family and close friends. A private family graveside service will be held at Sunset Cemetery. A memorial gathering to celebrate Tim’s life will be held Friday, August 17, from 2-4 p.m. at the Officers Mess, 15 Wing Moose Jaw. Memorials in Tim’s memory may be made to Relay for Life c/o Canadian Cancer Society, 61 Ross St. W., Moose Jaw, S6H 2M2. In living memory of Tim, a tree will be planted by W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.

Jamie Tonge

Born in Indian Head, Saskatchewan, Jamie worked in the flooring trade for over forty years. He was an active member of the Elks becoming very involved with their football program (Elks Minor Football), organizing, coaching and fundraising. In the past several years his passion turned to his grandchildren, they would always bring a special smile to his face. The love of his wife and family time with the children were most important to Jamie. He spent countless hours supporting his boys in sports such as baseball, football and wrestling. Predeceased by his father, James Morley Tonge, brother-in-law, Bob Neal and nephew, Daryle Williams, Jamie is survived by his wife, Betty; sons: Robert (Loretta) – Regina, Richard (Fran) and their family: Grayson and Reese – Saskatoon, Reagan (Louise) and their family: Rylan, Logan and Danika – Moose Jaw, mother, Vera Tonge, sister, Bonnie Neal and family: Denean (Greg) Hicks and their family: Liam and Olivia; Mike (Ashley) Williams and their daughter, Raiya; brother, Dane Tonge (Sandy) and their son, Darian, mother-in-law, Muriel Sanford, sister-in-law, Susan (Bob) Porter, and Krista McLean and the McLean families. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 17, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. in the W. J. Jones & Son Funeral Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw. Pastor Dave Moore will officiate. In lieu of flowers, for those so wishing, a memorial donation in Jamie’s memory may be made to the Allan Blair Cancer Centre, 4101 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, S4T 7T1 or to the Shriners Hospital for Children, c/o Wa Wa Temple, 1767 Main St. N., Moose Jaw, S6J 1L6.
