Gilberthe "Betty" Mary Hart

passed away on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 in her 94th year, at her home with her son by her side. Predeceased by her beloved husband Authur (1995) and her son David (2004). Loving mother of Ross of Fonthill and cherished grandmother of many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Lawrence and Lional Cross. Betty lived in fonthill all her life and will be missed by all who knew her. Family will receive friends at the JAMES L. PEDLAR FUNERAL HOME, 1292 Pelham Street, Fonthill, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Friday, September 3rd, 2010. The funeral service to celebrate Betty's life will be conducted in the chapel on Saturday, September 4th, at 11:00 o'clock am. Interment to follow at Fonthill cemetery. As an expression of sympathy donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.

Dorothy Pearl Stout

passed away peacefully at Post Inn Village in Oakville on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 in her 95th year. Beloved wife of the late Leslie Stout (1985). Loving mother to Evon (Barb) of Rosedale B.C., Paul (Brenda) of Cochrane AB., Mark (Linda) of Thorold and Nancy Corso (Dominic) of Milton. Cherished grandmother to 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. Dear sister of Reba Patrick, Harold Hamm and predeceased by brothers Lloyd Hamm, John Hamm, Earl Hamm, Merle Hamm, and Laverne Hamm.
Friends will be received by the family at the JAMES L. PEDLAR FUNERAL HOME, 1292 Pelham Street, Fonthill on Friday, August 13th from 7-9pm. where the funeral service to celebrate Dorothy's life will be conducted in the chapel on Saturday, August 14th at 11:00 AM. Private interment will follow at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens, Thorold. As an expression of sympathy donations to the Calvary Gospel Church Library Fund or the Gideon International Canada would be greatly appreciated.

Dorothy Cleo Berry

passed away at the St. Catharines General Hospital on Thursday, August 5, 2010 at the age of 91. Predeceased by her beloved husband Alfred Wilmont Berry (2004) and the late Malcolm McBrayne (1986). Dear mother of Jack and his wife Sharon McBrayne of Welland, step mother of Brian and his wife Donna Berry of Comox, British Columbia and James and his wife Tanis Berry of Fredericktown, New Brunswick. Cherished grandmother of Tom and his wife Rhonda McBrayne, Evan, Conner, Nelson and Zoe Berry. Great grandmother of Nathan and Callum McBrayne. Dear sister of Bob and his wife Beverly Phillips. Predeceased by her parents Robert and Marjorie Phillips and sisters June (Gilbert) Alloway and Iva Elsie. Friends will be received by the family at the JAMES L. PEDLAR FUNERAL HOME, 1292 Pelham Street, Fonthill on Wednesday, August 11th from 2-4 and 7-9pm. The funeral will be conducted in the chapel on Thursday, August 12th at 1 o'clock pm. Interment will follow at Fonthill cemetery. As an expression of sympathy donations to the YMCA in Welland would be greatly appreciated.

James McConchie Lenaghan

On Father's Day June 20, 2010 at the age of 102 at his home peacefully, with his family by his side, Jim went to be with the Lord. He will be sadly missed by his wife Ada, daughter Fern Bell, his grandson Jason and wife Julia Bell, great grandson Jordon James, sisters-in-law Alma Douglas, Velma Farquharson, Roberta Groves and many nieces and nephews. Jim had many friends in the Fonthill area, including members of Beacon Baptist Church and Markham Gospel Chapel. Jim was an avid Bible scholar, willing servant of the Lord, kind father and grand father, mentor, loving husband and a helpful friend. He was known for his quick humour, wonderful stories, his willingness to help neighbors and kindness to all. I will miss you Dad, but you are now free. Friends will be received by the family from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Wednesday, June 23rd at the JAMES L. PEDLAR FUNERAL HOME, 1292 Pelham Street Fonthill, 905-892-5762. The funeral service to celebrate Jim's life will take place in the chapel on Thursday, June 24th, at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Fonthill cemetery , Brock Street.

Velda Bertha Savigny

passed away peacefully at Rapelje Lodge on Thursday July 29, 2010. Beloved wife of the late Jack Savigny (1965) and loving mother of Heather Moote (Evan) of Welland and Twila Savigny of Burnaby B.C. Dear sister of Ilene Hambly of London, Glenn Damude of Niagara Falls, and sister-in-law of June Damude and Donald Johnston both of Fonthill. Velda was predeceased by her parents Bertha and Clarence Damude; sisters Evelyn and Verna Damude and Ruth Johnston; brothers Earl and Ken Damude, brother-in-law William Hambly and sister-in-law Florence Damude.
Friends will be received by the family Monday August 2, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the JAMES L. PEDLAR FUNERAL HOME, 1292 Pelham Street, Fonthill where the funeral service will be conducted in the chapel on Tuesday August 3rd at 11:00 am with Rev. George Schmidt officiating. Interment to follow at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Rapellje Lodge or Fonthill Baptist Church.

Carol Jean Suthons

passed away at her home in Fenwick on Thursday, July 22, 2010 at the age of 53, with her loving family by her side. Beloved wife and best friend of Ken for 34 years. Dearest mother of Aaron, Brendan and Carley. Beloved sister of Kathy (Richard predeceased 2008) Smith and Brenda (Rick) Page. Predeceased by her parents George and Jean Bradley. Carol's passion for life was dedicated to raising her children and spending countless hours tending to her flower gardens. She was known as "Crafty Carol" for her ability to express her love and happiness through painting and quilting. Friends will be received by the family from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the JAMES L. PEDLAR FUNERAL HOME, 1292 Pelham Street, Fonthill on Sunday, July, 25th. A funeral service to celebrate Carol's life will be conducted in the chapel on Monday, July 26th at 11:00 am with cremation to follow. As an expression of sympathy donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.

Olga Travis

Beloved wife of the late Maurice Travis (1992) passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 in her 86th year. Loving Mother of Samuel and his wife Carol, Guy and Estelle, Laura Culp, Cindy and her husband Jerry. Sadly missed by seven grandchildren. Amber and her husband Steve Dupont, Chad, Matthew, Crystal, Gregory, Zachary, Roy and her great-grandchildren Samantha, Megan, Brandon, and many, many nieces and nephews. Dear Sister of Irene and Eugenia of Manitoba, Michael and his wife Shirley of Alberta, Sister-in-law Carol CJaros of Alberta. Predeceased by her parents Dmytra and Nastia Danyleyko, her four brothers and four sisters, Granddaughter Baby Lindsay Travis, son-in-law Douglas Culp (Laura). Olga was an active member of Central United Church of Welland. She was a member of the Aileen Brown Hospital Auxillary, the Welcome Wagon for ten years, with the Red Cross Homemakers Service for twenty-five years and the March of Dimes for ten years. During the war, Olga worked in the Port Colborne Nickle Plant until the war ended. She volunteered her time in many different areas. Friends will be received by the family two hours prior to the memorial service on Saturday, July 17, 2010 from 11:00 to 1:00 with the service being conducted in the chapel of the JAMES L. PEDLAR FUNERAL HOME, 1292 Pelham Street, Fonthill at 1:00 pm. with Reverend Russell Myers officiating. Interment will follow at the Merritt Settlement cemetery , Smithville, Ontario. If so desired memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Robert John Rice

passed away on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at the Greater Niagara General Hospital at the age of 54. Bob resided in Ridgeway and leaves behind his wife Karen of Stoney Creek and their two children, Amy and Josh and his wife Lauren. Loving grand father of Trinity. Dear brother of Bill Rice (Anne) of Fenwick. Bob also leaves behind his nephews Brian and Jeff Rice. Predeceased by his parents John(2006) and Jean (1966) Rice both of Fonthill. Bob will also be missed by his step mother Brenda Rice of Fonthill. Bob's true passions were his Harley, his dog "Diesel" and going to the beach. Bob will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Friends will be received by the family from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Sunday, July 18th. at the JAMES L. PEDLAR FUNERAL HOME, 1292 Pelham Street, Fonthill, with the funeral being conducted in the chapel on Monday, July 19th at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Fonthill cemetery. Zoltan Laszlo Szabo

Dr. Zoltan L. Szabo of Fonthill passed away peacefully at the Welland Hospital, on Saturday July 10, 2010 , in his 85th year. Beloved husband of Helga, loving father of Sandor (and wife Steph), Kristina, and Stephanie. Dear brother of the late Gyula and his family. Private burial has taken place. Family will receive friends at the JAMES L. PEDLAR FUNERAL HOME, 1292 Pelham Street, Fonthill, Friday July 16, 2010 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. A service to celebrate Dr. Szabo's life will be conducted at the COMMUNITY PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 142 2nd St. in Welland, on Saturday July 17th at 11am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Welland Hospital Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society, Community Presbyterian Church or another charity of choice.

Gordon J. Young

passed away at the Welland Hospital on Sunday, July 4th, 2010, in his 95th. year. Beloved husband for over 63 years of the late Helen May Young (May 2010). Loving father of Larry (Ghislaine) and Gerald (Theresa) and predeceased by his daughter Helen Girard and son James Young. Cherished grandfather of Troy (Tammy), Travis (Lise), Anthony, Victoria, Andrew, Susan, Tina, Gordon, Mark, Georgina and many great-grandchildren. Also survived by many nieces and nephews and sisters in-law Jane Young and Hazel Digby.
A private family service was conducted on Wednesday July 7th 2010 with interment at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens. As an expression of sympathy donations may be made to The Poppy Fund of your local Royal Canadian Legion.

Dora Sylvia Kinsman

passed away at Welland Hospital on Saturday July 10, 2010 in her 88th year. Beloved wife of the late Harold E. Kinsman (1987) and loving mother of David and his wife Susan of Niagara Falls, Brian and his wife Karen of Welland and Stephen and his wife Debbie of Kingston. Dear sister of Gladys Kerr and Norman Sibley both of Nova Scotia and predeceased by her other brothers and sisters. Dora was also loved by her grandchildren, Trevor and his wife Shannan, Victoria and her husband Chris Plested, Kathryn and Dan, Graham and Tara, Gregory and Allison, Laura and Matt and her great-grandson Tiernan.
Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received by the family at the JAMES L. PEDLAR FUNERAL HOME, 1292 Pelham Street, Fonthill, on Tuesday, July 13th from 2-4 & 7-9pm. A private family graveside service will be conducted at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens, Thorold. As an expression of sympathy memorial donations may be made to the Welland Hospital Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

David Paul Ryding

It is with great sadness that the family of David Ryding announce his sudden but peaceful passing on Monday July 5th 2010 at the age of 42. Loving and proud father of Emily and Abigail. Dearly loved son of Anne and the late Neville Ryding. Dear brother of Louise, Bruce and family of Oakville. Including his ex-wife Cathy, Dave leaves many friends in the area, where he was well-known for his English humour, laughter and cheeky smile. Cremation has taken place. A service in celebration of his short life will be held at the JAMES L. PEDLAR FUNERAL HOME, 1292 Pelham Street, Fonthill, Saturday, July 10th at 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior to service. Dr. John Gay will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.

Dorothy May Crysler

passed away on Friday, July 2, 2010, at the Douglas Memorial Hospital in her 91st year. Beloved wife of the late William Lewis Crysler (2006). Dear mother of Robert Crysler and his wife Judith, Ronald Crysler all of Fonthill and predeceased by her son Richard (1990). Cherished grandmother of Debbie Stock (Jason) of Welland, Dawn Crysler (Ryan Byng) of St. Catharines. Great grandmother of Emily Mae and Aiden Robert Stock. Dear sister-in-law of Mary Lou Crysler of Thorold. Dorothy is also survived by many nieces and nephews and will be missed by all. Friends will be received by the family from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Sunday, July 4th at the JAMES L. PEDLAR FUNERAL HOME, 1292 Pelham Street, Fonthill. The funeral service will be conducted at Fonthill United Church, 42 Churchhill (at Canboro Road) Fonthill, on Monday, July 5th at 10:30am. with Reverend Dr. Garry van Bruchem officiating. Interment will follow at Fonthill cemetery. As an expression of sympathy memorial donations may be made to the McMasters Children's Hospital or to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
