RUDOLF NIGGLI
1918 - 2007
MR. JOHANN RUDOLF NIGGLI beloved husband of Mrs. Irma (Nee Barak) Niggli passed away at the Milk River Extendicare in the early hours on Saturday, October 13th, 2007 at the age of 89 years.
Rudy was born in Klosters, Switzerland on August 8, 1918. In 1951 he immigrated to Canada where he worked for a few local farmers before buying his own farm east of Warner. His passions were skiing and farming, which he continued to do into his 80’s. Rudy loved his cats, dogs and Swiss chocolate.
Besides his loving wife Irma of 53 years, Rudy is survived by one son Tom (Trudy) and 4 grandchildren; Tracy, Trevor, Teresa and Taralyn.
A PRIVATE FAMILY Graveside Service will be held at the MILK RIVER CEMETERY on Tuesday, October 16, 2007.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Tributes may be made to the New Ambulance Fund; made payable to the Town of Milk River, Box 270, Milk River, AB, T0K 1M0.

TELLY NEUMANN
2007
MR. TELLY NEUMANN, beloved husband of Mrs. Cindy Neumann and father of Amy Neumann (Devon Wannop) and Ben Neumann of Lethbridge, passed away suddenly at home on Saturday, August 18, 2007 at the age of 50 years.
He is also survived by 6 brothers and sisters; Donna (Greg) Hardie, Herb (Kathy) Neumann, Alfred Neumann (Maureen), Val (Lloyd) Voth, Perry (Susy) and Karen Neumann as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Alfred and Gloria Neumann and a twin brother at birth.
Telly will be lovingly remembered as a caring people person who always lent a helping hand to anyone. His heart of gold was shown through his love of conversation and desire to make a difference in other peoples’ lives. His true love in his life was his family and he was looking forward to the birth of his first grandchild, a little girl. He enjoyed watching his children playing sports, eventually coaching them. Telly enjoyed displaying the magic of Christmas with his “Christmas House of Lights” which he was very proud to share with the community. He worked at Kawneer for 20 years and enjoyed spending time outdoors and quading in the mountains. He will be sadly missed by his family, many friends and as well by his three dogs Buddy, Lucky and Teddy.
A Prayer Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge on Thursday, August 23, 2007 at 7:00 P.M.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. BASIL’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 604 – 13th Street North, Lethbridge on Friday, August 24, 2007 at 10:30 A.M. with Reverend Raul Hernandez Celebrant.
Interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

ISOBEL OOSTLANDER
1948 - 2009

ISOBEL MARY OOSTLANDER, beloved wife of Jacobus Nicolaas Oostlander of Lethbridge, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at the age of 60 years.
Besides her loving husband, she is survived by her daughters, Tammy Lynn Oostlander of Coaldale, AB and Penny Dawn (Micheal) Marr of Calgary, AB; five grandchildren, Saphire, Jacqueline, Gemma, Jayne and Joshua. She is also survived by; three sisters and one brother, Diane, Yolande, Denise and John Paul and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by parents John and Gemma Kerleroux.
Isobel was born September 4, 1948 in Drumheller, AB, and raised in Calgary, AB.
She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Relatives and Friends are invited to a Visitation with the family at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB, on Friday, April 3, 2009 from 7:00 – 8:00 P.M.

MELVA OLD SHOES - HEALY
2008

MRS. MELVA MARY OLD SHOES - HEALY of Lethbridge, beloved wife of Joe Old Shoes, passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family on Friday, April 25, 2008 at the age of 55 years.
Besides her loving husband of 39 years Joe, she is survived by her children; Johanna (Ben), Crystal (Lawrence) and Perry (Landy), adopted daughter Darlene Davis, grandchildren; Dwight, Mark, Western, Ariel, Avery, Nicholas, Shanel, Lane and twins Amber and Aden, great granddaughter Jorden, god son Kyle Old Shoes-Vielle and god daughter Amanda Gail Old Shoes. She is also survived by numerous brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A Wake Service will be held at CHIEF MOUNTAIN FUNERAL CHAPEL, Moses Lake on Thursday, May 1, 2008 from 5:00 P.M. to 11:00 P.M.
A Funeral Service will be held at CHIEF MOUNTAIN FUNERAL CHAPEL on Friday, May 2, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. with Archdeacon Sidney Black officiating.
Interment to follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery.

NILA OLSON
1937 - 2008
It is with deep sadness that we say goodbye to NILA ROSEMOND OLSON. Nila passed away on Monday, February 18, 2008 after a courageous battle with a lengthy illness.
Nila was born on March 5, 1937 in Lethbridge, raised in Warner and spent her working years at various locations in the U.S.A. Nila was a dynamic, headstrong spirit with a great flair for life itself. Her love of animals and concern for animal welfare carried her on throughout her life.
Nila is survived by two wonderful and caring children; son Robert McCrossin and daughter Bonnie Wetmore as well as two grandchildren Patrick and Sarah.
Nila was predeceased by her husband Gerald Olson and parents Andrew and Helen Rietz.
A private Graveside Service will be held at a later date.
Flowers are gratefully declined, for those who wish, memorial donations may be made to an animal charity of their choice.

ANA MARIA OSEJO
1904 - 2008

It is with great sadness that the family of ANA MARIA H. OSEJO announces her passing on Monday, January 21, 2008 at the age of 103 years.
Ana Maria was born on March 22, 1904 in Managua, Nicaragua. She enjoyed reading, telling stories, travelling, camping and playing Chinese checkers with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her children; Francisco (Sonia) Osejo, Mirna (Gilberto) Vargas, Sylvia Osejo and Alfredo (Ana) Osejo, grandchildren; Mario (Nadine) Osejo, Gilberto (Eleonor) Vargas, Francisco, Javier (Penny) Osejo, Ana Sabina (Calvin) Osejo, Ana Maria Osejo (Cole) Boogaart, Fausto Osejo and Maria del Mar Osejo and her great grandchildren; Eric, Maria, Marissa, Marcela, Leonor, Giovanni, Saclina, Jordan, Giselle, Bianca and Brittany. She is also survived by her sisters Melida and Maria Francisca and her brothers Jose, Luis, Andres, Adolfo and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents Andres and Juana de la Cruz, husband Fausto Alfredo, two daughters Raisa and Dora Maria as well as one granddaughter Myrna Isabel.
Ana Maria will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge on Friday, January 25, 2008 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 P.M.
A Funeral Mass will be held at ST. BASIL’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 604 – 13th Street North, Lethbridge on Saturday, January 26, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. with Reverend Raul Hernandez Celebrant.
Interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

TONY ORLINSKI
2007
On December 18, 2007 I lost my husband and my bestest friend, Tony Orlinski.
Tony is survived by his wife Shirley, mother-in-law Mary, 3 sisters-in-law, 4 brothers-in-law as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and his pet cat Muffin.
Thank you to the ambulance and rescue crew who so desperately tried to save Tony’s life. To the Dr.’s and nurses at the Regional Hospital, the city Police and the Handi-Bus service. A special thank-you to Bev Gwilliam, my home care provider who was with me through out the whole time. Thanks to Pat and Ed who came to my rescue the next morning. Thank you to Doug Hazuda and Ilona Bengry from Cornerstone Funeral Home for your wonderful service.
Cremation has taken place.

MARJORIE PASSEY
1937 - 2009

MARJORIE J. PASSEY, beloved wife of Darrell Passey of Magrath, AB, passed away at the Raymond Hospital on Sunday, March 8, 2009 at the age of 71 years.
She is the mother of three sons: Richard, Randy, and Ian (Allison) Passey, two grandchildren, Evan and Jace Passey, and one sister, Edith Baker all of Calgary, AB.
She was predeceased by her parents, Bert and Stella , and two brothers Bob and Don.
Marjorie was born October 27, 1937, in Calgary, AB, where she was raised and educated. She lived most of her life there, before moving to Magrath l7 years ago. Marjorie was very active in her church and enjoyed playing bingo, bowling and knitting; she was also a member of the Seniors Quilting Club. She was a warm, caring person who was devoted to her family and friends. Marjorie will be sadly missed by her family, friends and especially her cat Ginger.
A Funeral Service will be held at the MAGRATH UNITED CHURCH, 181E – 1 Avenue North, Magrath, AB, on Friday, March 13, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend George N. Ward Officiating.
Interment to follow at the Magrath Cemetery.

CHRISTOPHER PEARSON
2009

CHRISTOPHER PEARSON of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Beverley Pearson, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Friday, March 6, 2009 at the age of 57 years.
Besides his loving wife Bev, Chris is survived by his parents Jacqueline and John Skiba, brothers; Fred Pearson (children Katina and Loren), Wes Skiba (Ledean), (children Coral, Paige and Reed) and Randy Skiba.
Chris was born in Lethbridge and was raised on a farm from age 11. He loved Air Cadets, Boy Scouts and sports including basketball and track and field, which he excelled in. He was also a member of 4H and excelled in public speaking and was valedictorian of his high school class at Kate Andrews in Coaldale.
After graduating, he loved sports cars and participated in slalom and rally racing throughout the province and was part of the Lethbridge Sports Car Club. But most people at this time probably knew him best as an avid skier. He worked hard in spring, summer, and fall but his winters were dedicated to being on the ski hill, mostly at Castle Mountain (formerly Westcastle) and Fernie. He was very well liked on and off the ski hill. People often commented on his graceful skiing and friendly nature.
In 1979 Chris met Bev, the love of his life, while at Castle Mountain Ski Resort. Chris and Bev were married in December, 1981, and spent 27 inseparable years together. They always felt they were the richest people in the world knowing they had each other. During those years, they lived in Lethbridge, Moose Jaw and Kelowna. Chris belonged to the Fort Whoop- Up Black Powder club, and had an interest in guns, motorcycles, camping, hiking, photography, electronics and computers.
In Memory of Chris there will be a gathering for family and friends at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB, on Friday, March 13, 2009, from 2 to 4 P.M. to celebrate Chris’ life.
In memory of Chris donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

MATTHEW PROUDFOOT
1983 - 2009

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of MATTHEW MACKENZIE PROUDFOOT, wonderful son of Jeffery and Charmaine and dear brother of Tiffany, on Thursday January 15, 2009 at the age of 25 years.
Matthew was born in Lethbridge on March 13, 1983. He attended his early years of schooling in Lethbridge before attending Upper Canada College in Toronto, graduating in 2001 from Catholic Central. Matthew then attended the University of Alberta in Edmonton with a semester at the University of Dundee, Scotland before graduating in 2006 from U of A with a degree in Business. After graduation Matt accepted a position with Altus Helyer in Calgary. The lure of opportunity came calling when Matthew took a position in Dubai in 2008 with C.B. Richard Ellis as a real estate consultant before returning home to Calgary.
Matt’s first love was hockey. He was a fast skater and a mighty defenseman. He was the protector of everyone on and off the ice. A loyal friend, brother, son, grandson and of course a loyal Oilers fan. Matthew was so excited after receiving his gold medal after winning the Alberta Provincials on his 11th birthday. A champion and leader on and off the ice. Matthew won numerous awards and tournaments throughout his hockey career. As a 15 year old he played for N.A.C.A. of Edmonton in Slovakia, Czech Republic, Austria and Germany. Matt also played many other sports including golf, curling and skiing.
Matthew is survived by his parents Jeffery and Charmaine of Lethbridge and his sister Tiffany of Edmonton, Alberta, his grandmother Judy Proudfoot of Richmond, B.C., his Aunt Colleen of Vancouver, Aunt Sharee and Uncle Gerry, cousins Hector, Brandon and Rachel of Twassassan, B.C., Uncle Garry and Aunt Joan of West Vancouver, B.C., Uncle Norm and Aunt Cindy and cousin Cassidy Laflamme of Lethbridge, and more friends than we can mention. He was predeceased by his grandfathers Colin Proudfoot and Real Laflamme.
A Funeral Service will be held at SOUTHMINSTER UNITED CHURCH, 1011 – 4 Avenue South, Lethbridge on Thursday, January 22, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. With Reverend Lois Punton officiating.
A Family Graveside Service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Chinook Regional Hospital Fund. 960-19 Street South, Lethbridge, AB, T1J 1W5.

RITA PEDERSEN
2009

RITA PEDERSEN, passed away at St. Michael’s Palliative Care Centre on Tuesday, January 13, 2009, at the age of 98 years.
She is survived by her son Walter (Marsha), her grandchildren Chris Pedersen (Cindy and Jessica) of Calgary, Bob Pedersen (Brayden) of Lethbridge, her sisters Hattie Gane of Central Butte, SK., Alma Higgins of Moose Jaw SK., as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Chris Pedersen and several sisters and brother.
She was a very loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother but still found time to open her home to help many children over the years. She will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
We would like to extend our gratitude to the staff at St. Michael’s Palliative Care Unit for the wonderful care received by Mom. We would also like to thank the staff at Home Care for the care they provided Mom prior to her being hospitalized.
At Mother’s request a private family service will be held.
