WALTER WIKTORSKI
2008

It is with deep sorrow that the family shares the news of the passing of WALTER (WALLY) ANTONI WIKTORSKI, who passed away in Lethbridge on Thursday, December 11, 2008 at the age of 49 years.
When he was well, Wally loved visiting with friends and family, cooking, the outdoors, hunting and fishing, and all kinds of games. He would want us to remember him with a smile.
Wally is lovingly remembered by his brother, William Krawczyk and two sisters Jo Wiktorski and Helen Bartlett (Duane) of Atlanta, Georgia; nieces, Megan and Becky and Tara; nephew, Daniel; and his cousins. He is predeceased by his father Antoni Wiktorski and mother Maria Krawczyk-Wiktorski.
In memory of Wally, a private family Graveside Service will be held at MOUNTAIN VIEW CEMETERY, Scenic Drive, Lethbridge, on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 with Father Mark Bayrock officiating.

DAVINA WOOD
1922 - 2008

DAVINA MINTO WILSON WOOD passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Sunday, December 14, 2008 at 86 years of age.
Davina was born January 17, 1922, the seventh of nine children born to Harry and Barbara Forbes. She was predeceased by her husband Frank on February 25, 1999.
Davina was a homemaker and a very kind, gentle and generous person. She was employed as a dental assistant and won “The Dental Assistant of the Year” award in 1971.
Davina is survived by her sisters, Pat Bartlett and Roberta (Alan) Kimber. She had many nieces and nephews, whom she enjoyed spoiling. She was predeceased by her sisters and brothers-in-laws, Jean and Ted Lawrence, brother Harry (Miriam) Forbes, Phyllis and Ken Soady, Catherine and George Stanley, Irene and Jim Wood, Frank Bartlett, and Edna and Ed Canty.
The family thanks the nurses and staff on 5B of the Chinook Regional Hospital, for their tender and loving care, and Dr. E. Janzen and Dr. A. Nsisi.
There will be no service at Davina’s request.
In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made in Davina’s memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, #207, 542 7th Street South, Lethbridge, AB, T1J 2H1.

JOHN WAGANTALL
2008

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of a loving father, brother and grandfather, John Wagantall of Magrath. John passed away at the St. Michael's Health Centre Palliative Care on Saturday, November 22, 2008 at the age of 82 years.
He is survived by daughter Debi Baldwin of Calgary; son John (Cindy) Wagontall of Lethbridge; daughter Shirley (Darrell) DiPalma of Calgary and was a loving grandpa to 5 wonderful grandchildren, Chelsey Will, O.J. and Brett Wagontall, Kirk McDonald and Brandon DiPalma. He is also survived by his sister Tilly Herman; brothers Henry (Clara) Wagantall, Ernie (Myra) Wagantall; step brothers Tom Stanko and Ed Stanko as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
John was predeceased by his loving wife of 51 years, Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Wagantall and parents Otto Weichenthal and Wilhelmina Stanko.
John was born in Evergreen, AB and raised in the East Coulee area. John married Betty in 1953 and together they raised their 3 children spending the greater part of time in Lethbridge. John held numerous jobs before retiring from the City of Lethbridge where he worked for 26 years. He worked at the Power Plant until its closing, and later for the Water Treatment Plant as an Operating Engineer. During his retirement he spent many hours gardening, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. John could also be found every morning at the Magrath Senior Centre playing cards and pool with his buddies.
Special thanks to the staff at St. Michael's Palliative Care for their kind and attentive care.

A Funeral Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, on Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Marty Wagantall officiating. Cremation to follow.

ANNIE WIPF
1924 - 2008
ANNIE WIPF of Hillridge Colony, Alberta, beloved wife of the late Reverend Paul A. Wipf, passed away at the Red Deer Hospital, peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, November 13, 2008 at the age of 84 years.
Annie Wipf was born October 25, 1924 in Menno, South Dakota. Annie married her beloved husband in November 1945.
The way our Mother raised us and lived her life tells us that there will be a great place awaiting for her in eternity.
Annie left to mourn, her three sons, Leonard (Martha), Paul (Esther), and John (Elizabeth), all of Hillridge Colony; her eight daughters, Mary (Chris) of Pincher Creek, Anne (Peter), Lana (Ed), Theresa (Steve) all of Drumheller, Kate (Joe) of Lumsden, Saskatchewan, Judy (Joe) of Cranford, Ruth (Paul) of Champion and Dorothy (Paul) of Hillridge.
Annie also leaves to mourn four sisters and six brothers and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Paul, parents John and Annie, father and mother-in-law, Paul and Mary, and her grandson, Herbert.
Anna was a quiet person, casting all her cares upon the Lord, our only redeemer and comforter.

Peacefully sleeping, resting at last,
The world’s weary troubles and trials are past,
In silence we suffered, in patience she bore,
Till God called her home to suffer no more.
Loving and kind in all her ways,
Upright and just to the end of her days,
Sincere and true, in her heart and mind,
Beautiful memories, she left behind.

Annie will be sadly missed by her loved ones and those that remembered her for her kindness and selfless ability to help others.
A Funeral Service will be held at the HILLRIDGE COLONY, on Saturday, November 15, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. Interment to follow at the Hillridge Cemetery.

WHITEY WHITE
2008
JAMES BRIAN (WHITEY) WHITE, of Lethbridge, passed away at the Edith Cavell Care Centre, on Sunday, September 28, 2008 at the age of 78 years.
He was predeceased by his parents, Adam and Annie; his siblings, Mollie, Peggy, Betty, Billie and John. He will be missed by his niece, Maureen King (Nina) who cared for him for many years and his remaining siblings, Eileen, Kathleen and Joan. He will also be missed by his niece Ang, who along with his sister Joan, gave so much of their time and loving care during his last years. He was a generous uncle to his nieces and nephews.
Brian served in the RCOC in Korea after having been posted to Germany. He was patriotic and well versed in Canadian politics. He presented a plan for parliamentary reform which was ignored.
Special thanks to Dr. Doug Myhre, Dr. Cory Toth and staff at the ALS Clinic in Calgary, especially Janice Loeteman and Sue Monroe. Thank you to all at the Edith Cavell Care Centre for caring so well for Brian.
At Brian’s request, there will be no funeral service.

BUD WOCKNITZ
1918 - 2008

EARL “BUD” WOCKNITZ, beloved husband of the late Elsie Wocknitz of Magrath, passed away at the Good Samaritan Society of Magrath, on Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at the age of 89 years.
“Bud” was born on December 23, 1918 at the family farm north of Magrath. Bud spent his whole life on the family farm until his retirement. He received all of his education at Farm Hill School north of Magrath and east of the family farm. Over the years he attended many Farm Hill community functions, large family gatherings and enjoyed traveling with his family. He took great pride and was very meticulous in all of his work. He was also skilled in mechanics, welding, carpentry, plumbing and electrical work. He was a member of the Rural Electrification Area. Bud was also a Board Member of the Magrath United Church for many years. Bud was very easy going, gentle, caring, a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to all.
He is survived by his daughter Yvonne (Vic) Verbitsky of Vulcan; son Arthur (Diane) of Magrath; daughter Linda Hillmer of Fort Assiniboine; grandchildren Allan and Michael Verbitsky; Janice (Scott) Beck; Joan (Kirk) Frenzel; Judy (Bob) Weing; Joyce (Shane) Knox; Tim (Karen Hudson) Fyfe; Chris (Susan) Fyfe; Richard (Penny) Hillmer; Kevin (Jenna) Hillmer; Heather (Todd) Andries; 22 great grandchildren; 2 sisters Alice Brietzke of Three Hills; Stella Salberg of Raymond; and 1 brother, Leonard of Bellville, Ontario. Bud is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Bud is predeceased by his loving wife, Elsie, of 52 years; daughter Janice; his parents Paul and Susan; his 3 brothers, Roy, Ray and William; his 3 sisters Gertrude Rollingson, Pearl Kunz, Mae Johnson; his son-in-law Rick Hillmer; and his great grandson, Andrew Fyfe.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Graveside Service at ARCHMOUNT CEMETERY, Westside Drive, West Lethbridge, on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at 9:00 A.M.
A Memorial Service will follow at the Magrath United Church, 181 West 1st Avenue North, Magrath, Alberta, on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at 11:30 A.M. with Reverend George W. Ward officiating.
In memory of Bud, donations may be made to the Magrath United Church, Box 351, Magrath, Alberta, T0K 1J0.

PAUL WALDNER
2008
WALDNER, PAUL (Jimmy), at 85 years, passed away peacefully in the Lethbridge Chinook Regional Hospital on Wednesday, September 17, 2008.
The funeral will be held at New Elm Colony on Friday, September 19th, 2008 at 12:00 noon.

GRACE MARY WRIGHT
2008
GRACE MARY WRIGHT, beloved Mother, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Monday, September 15, 2008 at the age of 86 years.
A celebration of Mom’s life will be held after harvest on the family farm.
Cremation has taken place.
Thanks to Sunrise Village, Home Care, Palliative Care, all of the doctors and nurses at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital and for the wonderful care provided to our family. You are all a special group of people. A special thank you to my dear friend Sharon Kitzul for always being by my side.

JAKE WALTER
2008

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jake Walter. Jake passed away with his family by his side, on Friday, September 12th, 2008 at the age of 55 years.
Jake leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife Judy, his loving children, Tim (Becky Ann), Michael (Lynda), Barbie (Steven), Rosie and Jacob. Also left to remember him are his seven grandchildren whom he adored. He will be greatly missed by his brothers, sisters, brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Jake was a man with a huge heart for family and friends. He worked for the colony with great pride in all of his doings. Jake was in charge of the dairy, feedlot, range cows and all the little hobbies he had that he enjoyed a lot and was a cowboy at heart. No job was too big or too small for Jake (Dad) to tackle. There was nothing that he would not do for his family. Everyone who knew him will feel the loss of this wonderful man.
“You did all you could do. It is time to rest. We will always love you, Dad.”
Funeral services will be at the Lomond Hutterian Brethren on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at 10:00 A.M.

GEORGE WILTINK
1945 - 2008
GEORGE JOHN (GERRIT JAN) WILTINK passed away peacefully in Lethbridge after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
George was born in Velp, Holland in 1945 and immigrated to Canada with his family in 1954. He is survived by Andrina, his wife of 41 years, son Adam (Charlene), daughter Nicole (Andrew) Del Frari, four beautiful grandchildren Devon, Jessica, Blake and Carson. Also survived by his mother Mary Wiltink, brothers Bert and Henk all of Ontario. Predeceased by his father Bert Sr. in 1994.
George was well respected in the Appraisal Industry, often referred to as the best in the business. His expertise in Heavy Equipment led to a successful business with his trusted business partner Brad Noble. George was known in the industry as a “straight shooter” where a handshake alone brought integrity and respect. His sense of humour, quick wit, hearty laugh and gentle manner made him one of a kind. He will be greatly missed by all fortunate enough to have known him.
Special thanks to Foothills and Lethbridge hospitals, Dr. Steeves, the staff and doctors at St. Michaels’s Palliative (Hospice) Lethbridge. Your care and dedication made my husband’s passing very peaceful and loving.
Softly the leaves of memory fall. Gently we gather and treasure them all.
Good night my Love, Forever One.
A private celebration of life will be held in Lethbridge.

LILLIAN WANDLER
1934 - 2008

LILLIAN FAY WANDLER beloved wife of Ralph Wandler of Stirling, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on August 14, 2008 at the age of 73 years.
Besides her loving husband, she is the survived by; Faye (Murray) Miller of Suffield, AB, Arlene (Darrell) Bye of Lumby, BC, David Wandler of Fort Macleod, AB, Darrell Wandler of Stirling, AB, Perry Wandler of Fort Macleod, AB, Brent Wandler of Stirling, AB, 11 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Viola Maddess and brother Ervin Raketti both of Shaunavon, Saskatchewan, numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by parents Jeffery and Jennie Raketti and also by an infant daughter Karen Wandler.
Lillian was born October 26, 1934 at Shaunavon, Sask. Attended grade school at King Edward School in Numola District and completed High School in Shaunavon, Sask. She worked as a telephone operator for SGT. On March 8, 1958, she married Ralph Wandler of Kerrobert, Saskatchewan and moved to Stirling in 1972 where she has resided since.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2405 – 12 Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB on Friday, August 22, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Tim Boyle Celebrant.
