John Alexander Hood
1932 ~ 2011
John was born on Nov 28, 1932 to Sandy and Jean Hood in North Battleford Saskatchewan. He spent his childhood there, and then left home at a young age. He returned to North Battleford, married, and then moved his family to Dawson Creek, B.C. in 1970 to work on the W.A.C. Bennett dam. After the work on the dam finished John worked as a heavy duty mechanic at many logging camps across British Columbia until he retired.
Throughout his life, he was always surrounded by family and many close friends. He was a very social man and had a story to fit every occasion.
John was a generous and kind man who was always ready to lend a hand to anybody who needed it. His generosity and kind ways will always be remembered.
He will be dearly missed by so many people.
John is predeceased by his two sisters Hughene and Connie and by his first grandchild Micheal Francis Hood. He leaves behind his daughters, Heather, Mary-Jean and
Christine and his son Joe.
He adored his grandchildren Kaia and Michelle Frances and his great grandchildren Maliah and J'Zee. When they would walk in the room a broad smile would come across his face and his eyes would twinkle. He loved his family so much.
John genuinely loved animals and nature and would spend hours watching the birds at his feeder and the deer and moose walking by his front window. He was also an avid reader and loved western books.
We will all miss you so much, we love you dad. This is not goodbye, we will meet again.
In lieu of flowers, John wished donations to be made to the SPCA, 637 - 114 Avenue, Dawson Creek, British Columbia V1G 3A1 on his behalf.
A Social Gathering was held in South view apartments

Norman Bruce Calland
1937 ~ 2011
Norman Bruce Calland was born on June 27, 1937 to Winnifred Mae and Rev. Norman Calland in Birch Hills, Saskatchewan. Because his father was an Anglican Minister, Bruce had a few moves as he was growing up. Some of the places he called home were Spirit River, Alberta, Berwyn, Alberta and Victoria, BC. After high school Bruce started in the Royal Bank in Vancouver and was transferred to Kamloops, BC in 1958.
This is where he met Florence and they were married in 1960. Bruce started in the Corrections Branch in 1963 in Vancouver. Bruce, Florence and their two sons (Bryan and Kevin) moved to Dawson Creek in 1977, bought a quarter section of land in the Doe River area in 1979 and built a home on that land. He was very proud of his “Hobby Farm” and did many things with it, including raising Highland Cattle.
Bruce worked as a Probation Officer, Family Court Counselor and Regional Coroner until his retirement in 1997. After retirement Bruce took finding the enjoyment in family and life to another level. He was so proud of his family, grandchildren and farm. His most recent passion had been his greenhouse and all of the wonderful plants, vegetables and flowers he was growing.
As a son to his mother (Winn) Bruce was protective, loving and caring. He was always concerned with making her happy and caring for her. Theirs was a close relationship that was evident right up until he passed away.
Each of his friends have many of their own memories of Bruce. He always had a warm smile and kind words for those he would see while out running errands or shopping. He was a man who had a gentle and easy demeanor that made it easy to talk with him.
As a father he was supportive, inspirational and compassionate. Always quick to lend a hand provide a shoulder to lean on. As a grandfather (to Jordan, Dylan and Gracie), Bruce was tender, gentle and considerate. He adored his grandchildren and you could see the twinkle in his eyes as he spoke about them.
As a husband, Bruce was devoted, trustworthy and unselfish. His entire world revolved around Florence and all he wanted was for her comfort and happiness. This was his goal and how he measured himself. Fifty-one years of marriage and it was undeniable how much they still enjoyed each other’s company; still very much in love.
Bruce Calland was a champion of nature; all things great and small. He was wise and thoughtful. His appreciation for music was unrivaled and it gave him so much pleasure.
Although he followed no religion, his standard of integrity and his code of ethics were a match for any devout man.
He is missed more as each day passes by those he left behind.
We love you, Dad. We love you truly.

Judith a resident of Dawson Creek, passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at 70 years of age. She was born in Leicester, Alberta April 11, 1941, married to the late Joseph Bayerle. Judith was a loving mother to sons, Richard (Kathy) Strebchuk and Darren Bayerle. Dear grandmother to Holly and Abigail Strebchuk; Dustin Bayerle and Kelsea Meijering.

John a resident of Dawson Creek, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at 57 years of age. John was born December 6, 1953 in Niagara Falls, Ontario to the late James and Helen McGowan. John had one sister
Patricia (Richard) Irish, nephews Sean (Stefanie) Irish and the late Ryan Irish; and one great niece Olivia Irish.
John also had 4 children Glenna Andrews (Dean),
Shane Hanna, Arthur Read, and Donald Andrews.
A celebration of life service will be held Thursday, November 10, 2011 at Bergeron Funeral Chapel, Dawson Creek.

Kerri a resident of Chetwynd, British Columbia, passed away Sunday November 6th, 2011 at 43 years of age. Kerri was born in Hay River, Northwest Territories July 21, 1968 to
Gordie and Susie Graham. Kerri (Rob Hauber) had two children; Dayton Graham and Kasan Paterson. She was sister to Lori-Lyn Graham (Dave Maplethorp) .
A Memorial service was held Saturday, November 12, 2011 at the Chetwynd Baptist Fellowship Church, Chetwynd, British Columbia.

Doris Ivy Lillian Bell
Doris a resident of Dawson Creek, passed away on November 13, 2011at 83 years of age. Doris was born in Manitoba February 21, 1928 to the late Thomas and Lillian Davies. Doris is survived by her two sons Barrie and Randy Bell.
Doris was a great grandmother to Mattea and Owen Bell. Auntie to many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her brothers and sisters
Jim, Lloyd, Wilford, Muriel and Irene.

Marie Elizabeth Krantz
Marie was born on Sept. 5, 1921, an hour after her twin brother Robert, at Gilbertville, Iowa, to parents Hubert and Clara. Twins weren’t very common in those days, and people came from miles around to see them. They had one older brother, and during the years following, two more brothers and two sisters were born (one by one) .
The family had a dairy farm and raised sugar beets. When the depression hit, her family lost the farm and moved to Minnesota, where three more children were born. Upon hearing that there were jobs in Oregon, they made the decision to move west. Once in Oregon, they settled in and there Marie’s youngest brother was born.
When she was twenty-one years old, she went to work for her uncle, Dr. Stuckart, as his office nurse. Marie assisted him when he went on house calls to deliver babies. She cleaned and dressed the babies.
All her life she had a great devotion to Mary and the rosary. One of the things she prayed for was a good husband, asking the Blessed Virgin to find one for her. Mary did not fail her. In front of the church one Sunday she met Clem Krantz, just back from the war. Marie always said that Mary had provided for her not only a good husband, but her best friend.They were married June 19, 1946 in Sublimity, Oregon. They had two daughters, Mary Ann and Teresa. A few years later, they moved to a small farm, where they spent the girls’ growing-up years.
Clem persuaded Marie to make the big move to British Columbia, It turned out to be a great adventure, and BC soon became home.
Clem and Marie enjoyed going for walks and watching birds and other wildlife. They put out seeds for the birds in winter and sugar water for the hummingbirds in summer.
Their grandchildren have fond memories of visiting Grandpa and Grandma on the farm. They liked to get up early in the morning to help Grandma milk goats, and go with her to the garden. They liked her lunches of fresh-baked buns made from home-ground wheat, with butter and jam and cheese. She always had treats for the children, like zucchini loaf, or ice cream topped with fresh-picked berries drizzled with honey. She made raisin oatmeal every morning for breakfast and buttered popcorn every night before bedtime. Sometimes they’d bring out the Scrabble Game and Crib board. Often in the evenings they’d read or do crossword puzzles.
For many years Clem and Marie went square dancing. They belonged to the Doe River club and travelled all over to attend dances. As the grandchildren got old enough, they took them along, gradually adding more until their little car was packed to overflowing. She enjoyed her many great grandchildren, especially playing with the little ones and rocking them to sleep.
In later years, after Clem passed away, Marie moved into town, where she still enjoyed her daily walks. Often she would walk to daily Mass, or join the Cenacle group to pray the rosary.
A Funeral Mass was held Friday, November 25, 2011 at the Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church, Dawson Creek
