Michael McKenna
1922-2006
Michael McKenna passed away on July 2nd at the Pouce Coupe Care Home. He was born in Liverpool, Queen’s County Nova Scotia on February 2, 1922, 2006. Mike was a widower and resided at the Pouce Coupe Care home for the past 9 years. A funeral service was held on Friday July 7th at Bergeron Funeral Chapel, with William Smith of the Salvation Army officiating. Interment followed in the Brookside Cemetery in Dawson Creek.

Olive Patricia Bendiksen
1922-2006
Olive Patricia Bendiksen, known as Pat, passed away on July 21, 2006 in Dawson Creek, British Columbia at the age of 84 years. She was born to Helen and Frank Crockett on March 17, 1922 at Old Mill Lake, Abbotsford, British Columbia. She loved camping, bingo and dancing, and especially loved time spent with her family.
Pat was predeceased by her husband Stan Carlson, husband Bud Bendiksen, son Danny Carlson, sister Gwen Ayres and brother Frank Crockett.
Pat is survived by her children; Wayne (Sue) Carlson, Melvin Carlson,
Kathy (Wayne) Middleton and Harry (Julia) Carlson, daughter in-law Betty Carlson, grandchildren; Troy (Robin) Middleton, Scott Middleton, Kim (Jon) Huzel, David (Shelley) Middleton, Tina Middleton (Sam McLeod), Michael (Leana) Carlson, Brad Carlson, Tara (Clayton) Dean, Peter Carlson, David Carlson, and Jacob Carlson,
great grandchildren; Erin Middleton, Ben Middleton, Bree Middleton, Maegin Carlson, Kianna Carlson, Parker Dean, Harrison Dean and Shyanne Middleton, brothers;
Harold (Shirley) Crockett and Doug (Sylvia) Crockett, numerous nieces and nephews.
As per Pat’s wishes she was cremated and no service will be held.
Pat’s family would like to thank Dr. Dave Boorman and the nursing staff on the 2nd floor of the Dawson Creek & District hospital for the excellent care giving.

Stanley Ernest Isberg
1921-2006
Stan Isberg, a long time resident of the Peace Country, passed away at the Dawson Creek Hospital on June 25, 2006 at the age of 84.
On October 12, 1921 Stanley Ernest Isberg was born on a farm near Melfort, Saskatchewan. He was the third child and eldest son of John and Linda. Stan was raised on the farm until he was nine, and then moved with his family south of Wembley in 1931, returning to Saskatchewan in 1935.
He joined the army when he was 19 despite being underage. He was assigned as a cook initially but soon saw active duty on the front lines in the light artillery serving in England, Belgium, France, Holland and Germany. Though he rarely spoke of his experiences, Stan was proud and honoured to serve his country. He was a long standing member of the Royal Canadian legion for the past 50 plus years.
Stan was discharged from the army in 1946 and moved to Dawson Creek where he met Pearl McAllister. Stan and Pearl were married in 1950 and went on to raise a family of six. Employment opportunities took this family all over British Columbia, where Stan worked in the railway, carpentry, oilfield and highways’ maintenance industries. Stan retired from the Ministry of Highways in 1986 while living in Merritt, B.C.
Stan was a family man in every way, enjoying every moment he could spend with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nephews and nieces. He attended as many of their events as was possible even when his health was not 100%. He loved to hear of their accomplishments and enjoyed talking to others of the successes his family experienced. Visits from his family and friends were welcomed and appreciated.
Stan was predeceased by son, David; his sisters Florence Wagner, Myrtle Colley, and his brother Gilbert Isberg.
He is survived by his loving wife Pearl, daughter Elaine (Walter) Daunes of Fort St. John; son Les (Bonnie) Isberg of Grande Prairie; son Lorne (Karen) Isberg of Enderby, B.C.; son Arnie (Janice) Isberg of Fort St. John; and son Vern Isberg of Fort St. John.
He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Patti (Mike) London and Kathy (Lloyd) Bentley; Andrew Isberg; Kyle (Denielle) Isberg and Leann (Tim) Horcoff; Kory, Stephanie, and Alyssa Isberg; and Landon Isberg, Braydon and Courtney Nelson as well as 5 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
He leaves to mourn his sisters Evelyn Pollock of Victoria, B.C.; Helen (Stan) Carlson of Dawson Creek; and his brother George (Audrey) Isberg of Grande Prairie.
A memorial service was held on June 29, 2006 at Bergeron Funeral Services and interment followed at the Dawson Creek Cemetery Columbarium. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Palliative Care Society at the Dawson Creek Hospital.
Stan will remain in our hearts and we will treasure the memories of his life evermore.

Eugene Klysko
1947-2006
Eugene (Gene) Klysko of Dawson Creek, BC, passed away on June 12, 2006 at the age of 59. He was born in Pfarrkirchen, Germany, to parents Dmytro and Anna Klysko on February 10, 1947. Gene was the first child of two. After the family immigrated to Canada in 1949, his younger sister, Iris was born. Gene grew up in Saskatchewan, near Melville. His closest relatives were his father’s first cousins, the Maducks and the Klyskos.
While working for SaskTel in North Battleford, Saskatchewan, Gene met and fell in love with Hedy Arendt. They were married in June of 1972. Gene and Hedy moved to Granisle, BC, where Gene began working for BCTel, and the two of them began their family. They moved to Dawson Creek in January 1981, where Gene continued working with BC Tel and Telus until his retirement in January of 2003.
Gene was predeceased by his mother Anna Klysko, his father Dmytro Klysko, his mother-in-law Louise Arendt, his sister-in-law Arlene Arendt, and his brother-in-law Barry Ross. He is survived by his loving wife Hedy Klysko; four children, Rodney (Gwen) Klysko, Wendy (Dan) Gundersen, Andrew Klysko, and Matthew Klysko; two granddaughters, Laura and Amber Gundersen; his sister Iris Klysko-Ross; numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
A memorial service was held at the Dawson Creek Alliance Church on June 17, 2006. Officiated by Pastor Jonathan Henry.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He bravely and confidently faced this last year while he battled cancer, knowing that “to live is Christ, and to die is gain”. Even in his last days, he encouraged others with his words and his attitude, declaring that the Lord was his strength for each day. We love you, Gene. Dad. Gido.
The family of Eugene Klysko would like to thank everyone for their outpouring of love and generosity expressed by way of food, flowers, cards, and donations in Gene’s name to the local hospital oncology dept. and the palliative care society.
A special thank you to Dr. Roux, the cancer care staff and the home care nursing staff for their caring.

Darcy Scott Hawryluk
1964-2006
Scott born February 17, 2006, a life time resident of the Dawson Creek area, passed away June 19, 2006 in the Dawson Creek Hospital at the age of 42.
Scott touched many people in his short time with us, with his charm and wit. He worked many years running heavy equipment. He enjoyed the great outdoors and family.
As per Scott’s wished he was cremated and a private family celebration will be held.

Anna Alma Lequiere
1916-2006
Anna Lequiere passed away on June 19, 2006 at the age of 89 years in Dawson Creek, British Columbia. She was born on October 1, 1916 in Lemberg, Saskatchewan to August and Lena Gesell.
Anna leaves to mourn her children Diane Monds, Florence Nielson, Jeanette Tough,
Lily Bronoski, Janice Guy, Robert Lequiere and Jim (Cheryl) Lequiere, grandchildren; Mario, Angela, Gina, Ricky, Dean, Daryl, Deanna, Winka, Chris, Mykel, Duane, Annette, Paul, Ryan, Erin, Josh, and Brittany, thirty-one great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren, brother Bill (Tanis) Gesell and sisters; Louise (Jake) Reimer and Gary Saunders.
Her husband Frederick J. Lequiere in (1973) pre-deceased Anna.
As per Anna’s wishes, she was cremated and inurnment will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Burnaby, British Columbia on July 1, 2006 at 2:00 pm.

Hugh Cranna Studley
1913-2006
Hugh Cranna Studley, better known as Bud /Buddy, was born on June 3, 1913 in Michigan, North Dakota to Henry and Mary Studley. He was the youngest child, a baby brother for Laura, Kisty, Arthur, Bruce Rhoda, William and Matilda.
Farming was Buddys’ life. He was raised on the farm in Michigan, North Dakota and worked on a sheep ranch in Montana before embarking on an exciting journey at age 17 to come homesteading in the Peace River Country. Henry and his three sons; Art, Bill and Bud drove to Sunrise Valley and filed on homesteads in the fall of 1930. His mother Mary and his sister Matilda joined them later the same year.
In 1939 he married Jean Jordan, a partnership that spanned 66 and a half years. Bud and and Jean raised seven children on the farm in Sunrise Valley before moving to Dawson Creek in 1980.
After a wonderful 93 years of life, on June 24, 2006 he went to join his Mother & Dad, his brothers and sisters and his great grandson. A funeral service was held on June 29, 2006 in the Bergeron Funeral Chapel in Dawson Creek, British Columbia. Officiated by Marilyn Carroll. He was laid to rest in “Mountainview Cemetery”, ( which is part of the Studley homestead) among family and his pioneer friends and neighbours.
Buddy will be fondly remembered by his loving wife Jean, his sons Wayne (Joyce),
Keith (Donna), Warren (Sylvia) and his Daughters Virginia (Ed), Patricia (Joe),
Donna (Ken), Mary (Don) . He was a well loved Grampa Buddy to 21 grandchildren,
40 great grandchildren and 2 great-great-granddaughters, and an uncle too many nieces and nephews.
