Madeleine Parvais (nee Le Mercier)

Peacefully, on Friday March 30, 2002, Madeleine Parvais formerly of Holland, Manitoba passed away at the Notre Dame Foyer, at the age of 89 years.

She was predeceased by her husband Achille, her parents Raymond LeMercier and Marie (nee Bauthier), her sister Germaine, and by 2 brothers: Georges and Jean.

She leaves to mourn her passing 2 brothers: Raymond (Roseline) and Marius (Yvette) and one daughter Germaine Parvais. She also leaves 7 grandchildren: Jean-Marie (Denise), Anne-Marie (Fietza), Jean-Raymond (Wendy), Isabelle, Marianne, Alexandra, Valérie and 3 great-grandchildren: Patrick, Yannik and Katherine.

Prayers were held at Adam's Funeral Home on Tuesday April 2, at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass was celebrated at the Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday April 3, at 2 p.m. with Father Raymond Brémaud officiating. Interment followed at the Holland Parish Cemetery.

The family wish to express a sincere thanks to the doctors and staff of the Notre Dame Foyer for the care and compassion their mother has received.

Louise Julien

Peacefully at the Centre Taché, on Saturday March 23, 2002, Louise Julien of Winnipeg, Manitoba passed away at the age of 87 years.

She leaves to mourn three sisters: Virginie Lecomte of Vancouvre B.C., Marie Tichit of Notre Dame de Lourdes, Hélène Chammartin of Winnipeg, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Marius and Anna (née Hebrard), 3 brothers: Jean-Baptiste, Émile and Privat, and by 2 sisters: Augustine Deurbrouck and Antoinette Peel.

Prayers will be held at Adam's Funeral Home on Tuesday March 26, 2002 at 8:30 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday March 27, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Raymond Brémaud officiating. Interment in the Parish Cemetery.

Juliette Lacroix

Paisiblement et entourée de sa famille, Maman est decédeé le 23 mars 2002 au Foyer Valade à l'âge de 95 ans.

Elle laisse dans le deuil ses enfants Louise (John), Marielle, Marcel (Laura) et Laurent (Ann); neuf petits enfants; trois aniere petits enfants; et plusieurs neveux et nièces. Elle fut précédé par son mari Léo; ses frères et soeurs, Cyril, Adrienne, Flavie, Zéphirin, Laura et Joseph; et son petit fils Martin.

Juliette, fille d'Arthur et Eva (née Beaudry) Lachance, fut élevée entouré d'amour sur une belle ferme située dans la paroisse de St-Eustache. Ene termina ses études secondaires à l'Académie St-Joseph. Ensuite, elle complèta son cours d'enseignante à l'ecole Normale située à Dauphin. Après quelques années d'enseignement dans les écoles de campagne de Lido Plage et Baie St-Paul, elle fonda un foyer avec son époux, Léo, sur leur ferme près de Poplar Point.

Pendant sa longue vie Juliette démontra son amour pour la vie en s'occupant avec dévouement de sa famille, en cultivant de jolies parterres et en participant aux activitées communautaires telles le curling, les Dames de Ste-Anne et le club d'horticulture de Poplar Point. Aussi, Juliette aimait correspondre avec de nombreux parents et amis de tous les coins du monde. À Noêl, son courrier abondait de cartes et de lettres.

Pendant sa vie Juliette fît de nombreux voyages. Son préféré était celui en Europe en 1958 qui lui a permis de faire un pélérinage à Lourdes. Son dernier voyage avec Léo, peu longtemps avant sa mort, était un merveilleux séjour à Hawaii.

La famille désire remercier taus les employés qui ont si tendrement offert des soins à notre chère maman au Manoir Cartier ainsi qu'au Foyer Valade.

Juliette Lacroix

Peacefully on March 23, 2002 with family at her bedside, Juliette passed away at 95 years of age. She leaves to cherish her memory, her children Louise (John), Marielle, Marcel (Laura) and Laurent (Ann); nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Juliette was predeceased by her husband, Léo; her siblings Cyril, Adrienne, Flavie, Zéphirin, Laura and Joseph; and her grandson Martin.

Juliette, daughter of Arthur Lachance and Eva (nee Beaudry), was raised in a loving family on a farm in the parish of St. Eustache. After completing high school at l'Academie St-Joseph, Juliette attended Normal School in Dauphin. After teaching for several years in country schools located at Lido Plage and Baie St. Paul, Juliette raised a family with her husband, Leo, on a farm near Poplar Point.

Juliette demonstrated her love of life by participating in numerous activities such as gardening, curling, parish volunteer work and travelling. She also enjoyed corresponding with relatives and friends from near and far. Juliette traveled all over the world but her favorite trip was a voyage to Europe in 1958 when she had an opportunity to visit Lourdes in France. Her last trip with Leo, shortly before his death, was a lovely vacation in Hawaii.

The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the home care employees at the Cartier Manor who became good friends with our mother and to the devoted health care workers at the Foyer Valade where she spent the last months of her life.

Funeral service will be held at St. Eustache Church at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27 preceded with viewing at 1:30 p.m.

Lorraine Anna Francis Foidart (née Zolondek)

Accidentally near Starbuck, Manitoba on Sunday March 17, 2002, Mrs. Lorraine Foidart of Notre Dame de Lourdes, Manitoba passed away at the age of 59 years.

She leaves to mourn her passing her loving husband Leonard, 4 children: Michelle Salo of Winnipeg, Peter and wife Kelly Foidart of Jasper, Coreen and husband Jim Cosser of Winnipeg and Paul and wife Charlene Foidart of Winnipeg, 6 grandchildren: Lyle, Nicole, Jocelyn, Shannon, Skylar and Kirsten. She also leaves to mourn her mother Jeannette Zolondek, 2 brothers: Mark Zolondek and Gilbert and wife Jacqeline Zolondek, her mother-in-law Martha Foidart of Bruxelles, 3 sisters-in-law: Marilyn and husband Florimond Plaitin, Paulette and husband Brian Peternaik, and Marie and husband Michael Deroche, 2 brothers-in-law: Mark and wife Bonita Foidart, Morris and wife Claudette Foidart, and numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

With respect for Lorraine's wishes, cremation has taken place. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church on Saturday March 23, 2002 at 2 p.m. with Father Raymond Brémaud officiating. Interment in the Parish Cemetery.

Albert Henri Arbez

Peacefully on Sunday March 17, 2002 Albert Arbez passed away at the St. Claude Pavillon at the age of 93.

Albert leaves to mourn his sister-in-law Annette Arbez along with many nephews, nieces and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents Pierre in 1953 and his mother Berthe in 1940. He is also predeceased by his seven brothers: Joseph (Germaine), Paul (Reine), Gaston (Caroline), Pierre (in infancy), Arsène, Fernand and Julien; and by five sisters: Thérèse (Fernand Vandel), Marguerite, Sr. Marie s.d.s., Berthe and Anne-Marie.

From a very young age Albert worked on various farms. Later he worked at Marshall Wells and Arbez Lumber where he spent many years. He had many hobbies which included reading, fishing, curling, playing cards, bingo and baseball. Being very religious, Albert sang in the choir for many years, and recited the rosary every day.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday March 21, 2002 at 2 p.m. preceded by the Rosary at 1:30 p.m. in the St. Claude Roman Catholic Church. Interment to follow in the St. Claude Parish Cemetery. Father Rodrigue Bouchard Officiating.

Suzanne Buydens

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother Suzanne, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday March 14, 2002 at the Lorne Memorial Hospital in Swan Lake.

Suzanne was born on January 24, 1913 in Knesselaere, Belgium and came to Canada with her family in 1920 at the age of 7. They settled in the St. Alphonse area and on October 10, 1939 she married Victor Buydens of Bruxelles. They lived with her parents for 3 years and she often spoke of working in the fields with horses along with the men. Then they made their home in Swan Lake where they raised a family of two daughters Velma and Rita. Suzanne was a very energetic woman and catered weddings etc. for the C.W.L. for fourteen years. She was also the local "Avon Lady" and kept many borders in her home. She enjoyed socializing and spent many happy hours playing bingo and cards with her friends. Her home was always open to family and friends and she was known as a great cook. She belonged to many organizations and did volunteer work. She was very devoted to her family and grandchildren and never let us down in any way, always offering her love and support. She lived a very full and satisfying life.

She was predeceased by her loving husband Victor on December 28, 1982 and her parents Henry and Irma Claeys. She was also predeceased by three brothers Alphonse, Oscar and Gerard and their spouses and by three sisters Maria (Victor) DeKoninck, Margaret (Theophile) Van De Kerckhove and Irene (Maurice) De Graeve. She is also predeceased by three sister-in-laws, Angele and Rachel Buydens and Alice DeRyck and brother-in-law Leon.

Left to mourn her passing and cherish her memory are two daughters Velma and Edgar Desrochers of Oak Bluff and their children Lianne (Richard), Marc (Lise) and Dean (Jenn); Rita and Eddie Goderis of Swan Lake and their children Darren and Lorianne (Dwayne). She also leaves to mourn her eight loving great-grandchildren Dylan, Logan and Taryn Picton, Jaimee, Ryder and Dawson Lytle and Ariel and Nieva Desrochers.

She is also survived by one sister Yvonne and brother-in-law Leo Desrochers and brother-in-law Emile Buydens.

She will always be remembered and sadly missed. May the good Lord keep her in his loving care. We are sure dad welcomes her with open arms. With love, good bye and 'till we meet again.

Prayers will be held at Adam's Funeral Home on Sunday March 17, at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the St. Martin of Tours Roman Catholic Church in Swan Lake, Manitoba on Monday March 18, at 2 p.m. with Father Firmin Michiels officiating. Interment in the Parish cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: David Sheffield, Dwayne Lytle, Richard Picton, Darren Goderis, Marc Desrochers and Dean Desrochers.

Roy Williams

Peacefully at the Notre Dame Hospital on Thursday March 7, 2002, Mr. Roy Williams formerly of Rathwell, Manitoba passed away at the age of 82 years.

Funeral Services will be held at the Notre Dame Foyer Chapel on Wednesday March 20, 2002 at 9:45 a.m.

Emile Roméo Joseph Robidoux

Peacefully on March 7, 2002 after a lengthy illness with emphysema, Emile passed away at the age of 71 years.

Emile was born on March 30, 1930. In June of 1957 he married Fernande Piché of Fannystelle. Together they raised their three boys on his family farm in Haywood. Emile was a friendly man enjoyed and loved by all. He had a great compassion for his farm and his community. As a young man he enjoyed sports, especially hockey, baseball and broomball. Later in life he enjoyed card games and treasured the times he spent playing blitz with his family and friends.

Emile was predeceased by his parents Wilfred and Eugenie Robidoux, by one brother Henri, and one sister-in-law Diane. He leaves to mourn his loving wife Fernande, sons René (Rachel) of St. Malo, MB, Rhéal (Judith) and children Brian, Stéphane, Reg, Jocelyne and Joël of Haywood and Norbert of Toad River, B.C. Also surviving is his brother Jos (Annette), sister in law Cecile, sister Yvette (Roland) Jolicoeur and brother Denis, his brother and sister-in-laws and many nephews and nieces.

Funeral Mass will be held at the St. Denis Parish Church in Haywood on Tuesday March 12, 2002. Prayers at 1:30 p.m., Mass at 2 p.m. followed by Cremation. Interment in the Parish Cemetery at a later date.

Louise Pantel (nee Chabbert)

On March 7, 2002, after having been anointed, Louise Pantel, aged 91 years, passed away peacefully at Foyer Valade in Winnipeg, MB. Louise was born on September 16, 1910 at Notre-Dame de Lourdes, Manitoba. She and her husband Jules resided in Notre-Dame de Lourdes and moved to Winnipeg in the early 70's where they shared many happy years of retirement.

Louise will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Lucille Benoit (Richard) and their daughter Lauranne and by her daughter-in-law Patricia Pantel and her daughters Diane Bihun (Dave) and Danielle Rondeau (Paul). She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Angele Brundige, Lucie Boisvert (Maurice), Jeanne Fouasse and Marie Comte as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Jules in August 1989, and by her dear son André in December 2000.

After her husband's death, Louise moved to 2900 Pembina Highway where she lived seven enjoyable years with family and newly acquired friends in the apartment block. Louise was a kind, patient, and affectionate person who in her quiet way loved to spend time with and experienced many pleasant moments with her children, grandchildren, and friends.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by Father Raymond Brémaud on Monday, March 11 at 11:00 a.m. preceded by prayers and viewing at 10:30 AM at the Notre-Dame de Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Notre-Dame de Lourdes, Manitoba. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff at Foyer Valade for their compassion during the last week of Louise's illness and for their kindness and caring throughout the last four years. Special thanks to Father Carl Tarnopolski for his support and encouragement.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Louise's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2H8 or to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4B2.
