Margaret Elizabeth Schrader
May 24, 1915 – April 24, 2008
We sadly announce the passing of Margaret Schrader at Third Crossing Manor in Gladstone.
Margaret was born in Gladstone, the only child of William and Matilda Wilkinson. The family farmed in the Deseronto District and she attended Deseronto School and later high school in Gladstone. Following Normal School in Brandon, she taught for ten years in various schools in the area. After her marriage to Fern Schrader in 1943, she and Fern farmed near Plumas until they retired to Plumas in 1988. In 2003 she moved to Village View Lodge where she resided until 2007 when she moved to Third Crossing Manor.
Over the years she participated in numerous community activities. She was a faithful member of the Rebekah Lodge, a member of the UCW and belonged to the Plumas Seniors Club. She loved playing cards with friends and enjoyed the jaunts to Gladstone with her bingo buddies. In her later years, she really appreciated the many events which took place in the Village View Lodge.
She was predeceased by her husband Fern in 1988 and an infant grandson in 1989. She is survived by her children Bill (Dianne) of Winnipeg, Karen Oliver (Jim) of Lakeland, Eldon (Joyce) of Plumas, four grand children, four great grand children and special friend Pauline Paulson of Edmonton.
Funeral service was held Monday, April 28, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Plumas United Church with Rev. George Cargo officiating. Interment followed in the Plumas Cemetery. Pallbearers were Chris Schrader, Margo Schrader, Morgan Schrader, Patrick Oliver, Don Sollner and Art Habke.

Della Schettler (nee Uhryniuk)
(1926-2008)
Suddenly, yet peacefully, our cherished mother, grandmother and sister passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2008 with her family by her side. Della will be fondly remembered by her two sons; Grant (Brenda), Lorne (Joanne) and beloved granddaughters Erin and Carla and her sisters; Mary and Beatrice. Della was predeceased by her husband, Jack in 1994, her parents and three of her siblings, Anne, Michael, and William.
Della was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. She passed her proud Ukrainian heritage onto her granddaughters, Erin and Carla through dance class, pysanky making, cooking, and “the” yearly trek to the Dauphin Ukrainian Festival. She left all that knew her great memories, especially for her two granddaughters, whom she loved with a passion and who returned in same.
Della was born in Fairlight Saskatchewan, moving to Plumas at age 10. Her early years in Plumas were filled with family, sports, music, dance, and church. These interests followed her throughout her life. She was an active educator earning her Bachelor of Teaching at Brandon University. She taught in Plumas and district for 27 years before retiring in 1983.
As a strong, active supporter of the church and community, she took on many roles. She was an avid gardener transforming her yards into masterpieces.
At Della’s request, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Della’s Life was held at MacGregor United Church on Thursday, May 1, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Quentin Robinson and Rev. Peggy Reid officiating.

Peter H. Pubben
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Pete Pubben at his home in Gladstone on May 6, 2008 at the age of 82.
Pete was born in Horst, Holland on October 11, 1925 to Jan & Hendrika Pubben. He immigrated to Canada with his family in May 1928 to the Plumas, MB area, where he resided for most of his life before moving to Gladstone in 2002. Pete was predeceased by his parents; his brothers Jack & John; and his sister Nellie. He is survived by his beloved friend Mary Belton & family; his sister Regina (Bernard); brother Sam (Pearl); as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. Pete will be missed by all who knew him.
Funeral service was held on Friday, May 9, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. in the Gladstone United Church with Rev. Ian Olive officiating. Interment followed at the Plumas Cemetery. Anthony Clive (Tony) Strong
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, and friend on Saturday, May 10, 2008 at Seven Regions Health Centre, Gladstone.
Tony was born on November 2, 1932 to Joe and Ellen Strong. Tony was raised in the Amaranth / Sandy Bay area. He enjoyed the outdoors, riding his four- wheeler, and he especially loved spending the summer digging Seneca root. Tony had a love for stray dogs which he would often bring home. Tony worked for the C.N. Railroad right up until he retired in 1998. During the winter when he was laid off from C.N. he would fish on Lake Manitoba. He showed his sons how to fish and they still do it to this day. Tony also loved trapping. He had traps for all kinds of animals. He would often take his grandchildren to set and check his traps and the snares he set. Tony loved watching sports such as hockey and baseball. He especially loved baseball because he played ball when he was young. He never missed a world series on TV. Tony was well known and loved in the community. He would share a cup of coffee with anyone that was willing. Tony had a large family with many grandchildren. He loved to tease his grandkids and he even gave quite a few of them nicknames. He would also make up limericks for them.

Funeral service was held on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at 2;00 p.m. in Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, Amaranth with Father Mike Nwosu officiating. Interment followed in the Haven of Rest Cemetery, Amaranth. Pallbearers were Kevin Desmerais, Joe Mousseau, Randy Strong, Jeremy Desmerais, Boss Strong, Bobbi Strong, Chris Strong, Ashley Desmerais. Honourary pallbearers were Lawrence Desmerais, Roland Whitford, Clarence Spence, Irvin Hall, Marvin Reid, Calvin Henderson, and Edmund Fulham.

Manuela Grumpelt
Entered into rest at the Neepawa District Hospital on Sunday, May 11, 2008 at the age of 88 years.
Born March 3, 1920 in Poland. Manuela moved as an infant with her family to Germany where she grew up. In 1950 she came to Canada to the Grass River District. On June 20, 1952 she married Johannes Grumpelt and moved to Winnipeg and later to Stonewall. In 1962 they moved to a farm in the Plumas District where she has since resided.
She is survived by her husband Johannes; four sons; Bernie(Susan) of Wetaskiwin, AB., granddaughter Aynsley (Matt), and great-grandchildren Paige and Michelle, and grandson Brady; Ron (Cyndy) of Morden, grandchildren Paige and Braden; Ed(Barb) of Gladstone, grandson Tyler; Garry(Shelley) of Aubigny, MB., granddaughter Jaylene (Kyle), great-grandchildren Daylen and Brandyce, grandson Josh; one sister Ruth Penzel of Germany; one brother Horst Block of Winnipeg; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one sister Heidwig Neumann of Germany.
Manuela centred her life around her home and family. She enjoyed gardening, especially flowers and knitting. She donated much of her knitting to charitable organizations.
Funeral Service was held on Friday, May 16, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Plumas. Interment followed in the Plumas Cemetery.

Rosalina Haines (Chico)
Asinikwe “Stone Woman”
July 25, 1945 – May 13, 2008
Peacefully with her family by her side, at the age of 62, she entered into the spirit world on May 13, 2008. Rosalina was born in Sandy Bay on July 25, 1945. She grew up in Sandy Bay and later attended residential school. She was a very community oriented person and was a selfless person, always caring for others instead of herself, up until the time of her passing. She enjoyed helping people and all the children in the community, all sports, baseball, square dancing competitions, pageants, coaching, track & field, helping at community wakes and collecting community wedding pictures. She loved her community and volunteered with many activities.
She also loved her family, in its entirety. She loved each of her family members and extended families and tried to help whenever she could. It was important for her to carry on tradition to her children and grandchildren, to become impeccable homemakers. She took pride in her surroundings in perfect condition. Her most favourite things to do were travelling and enjoying meeting new people. She also loved shopping, visiting and singing at the local gospel groups and gatherings. Her utmost favourite color was yellow.
She was predeceased by her parents Moise & Flora McIvor; brothers Charles McIvor, Abraham McIvor, Fred McIvor, Aylmer McIvor, Howard McIvor; sister Hilda Starr; sister-in-law Myrna Mousseau; son Kelvin Mousseau; nephews Walter (Moose) Longclaws, Wayne McIvor; niece Lyndeen Starr; grandchild Sasha Haines; great-grandchildren Kiera Haines & Rosalina Haines.
She is survived by her siblings Harriet McIvor, Andrew McIvor, Oscar McIvor, Denis McIvor, Olga McIvor, Judy Doolittle (Wayne), & Mary Beaulieu; children Michael Haines (Shirley), Kevin Haines (Sonja), Karen Martin (Peter), Kenneth Champion (Carollee); grandchildren Michael Jr. Haines, Seth Haines, Nicholas Haines, Darian Haines, Vivian Haines, Mark Haines, Kevin Jr. Haines, Shantja Haines, Valeen Haines, Paige Martin, Myles Martin; great-grandchildren Raquel Haines, Michael Jr. 3rd Haines, Rapheal Haines, Pharrel Haines, Kadence Haines, Kylie Haines and her numerous extended relatives, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Wake services started Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at the Sandy Bay Community Complex at 5:00 p.m. Funeral service was held on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Complex with interment following at Hillside Cemetery, Portage la Prairie with Father Comeau officiating.

Nora Edna Dilk
Nora Edna Dilk passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at East View Lodge, Neepawa, Manitoba at the age of 85 years.
She was born on March 8, 1923 at Waldersee, Manitoba where she also grew up and received her education. In 1940 Nora married Edward Dilk and they continued to live and raise their three children in the Waldersee area. Nora was an active member of the Christ Lutheran Church until retiring to Neepawa in 1999. She was a loving mother and a friend to many.
Nora was predeceased by her husband Edward and son Alvin.
She will be lovingly missed by daughter Connie Cooper; son Wayne Dilk (Judy); grandchildren Justin Dilk (Yanyu), Jeremy Dilk (Lisa), Rea Patenaude, Terri Cooper and Colleen Fillmore; great grandchildren Allison Dilk, Dylan and Zach Fillmore, Andree, Sean and Denae Patenaude as well as sisters Rose, Millie and Adeline.
Funeral service was held Saturday, May 24, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Christ Lutheran Church, Waldersse, Manitoba with Pastor Howard Burnie officiating and Sharron Scrupa presiding at the organ. Interment followed in the Waldersee Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jeremy Dilk, Justin Dilk, Brian Dilk, Don Boyall, Brian Heinz and Rod Peppler.

Edwin Reinhold Klatt
After a lengthy courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, May 21, 2008 in Neepawa Hospital, Edwin Klatt beloved husband of Sarah peacefully passed away with family by his side at the age of 82 years.
Ed was born November 15, 1925 in the Plumas area where he lived all his life. He left school at an early age to farm with his dad.
In 1952 he married Sarah Winn of Kelwood. Together they raised a family of four.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 55 years; daughters Darlene (Peter) Heron Riches; Lorrie Fraser (Fred) and Gail (Brian) Kirkland; and son Kevin; six grandchildren Christopher & Candace, Michelle & Tyler and Ryan & Shannon; five great grandchildren Lauren, Matthew, Christopher, Bronson and Sydney; sisters Lydia Schrader, Margaret (Clem) Schleppe and Dorothy (Sid) Smith; along with many nieces and nephews.
His entire life was family and farming with side jobs driving school bus, the infamous honey wagon, always willing to help, never minded being called on Christmas day to help neighbors in septic distress. He was a member of the United Church, the Plumas Legion and also a volunteered fire man. He never owed anyone, bills had to be paid right away.
Funeral service was held Monday, May 26, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Plumas United Church, Plumas, Manitoba with Rev. Ian Olive officiating. Interment followed in the Plumas Cemetery.

Clara Roulette
Passed away peacefully at Portage District General Hospital on Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at the age of 82 with her family by her side.
Clara was born August 2, 1925 and raised in Sandy Bay, after her school days she married David Jacob Roulette and began her family. She had 10 children and forty one grandchildren, seventy nine great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Her family was extremely important to her. Clara was also an avid reader, enjoyed puzzles and television, in later years she was a regular bingo player. She also had a special fondness for “Brown Sugar” her faithful dog.
Clara was predeceased by her parents, Laurent and Alice Beaulieu; her husband David; her daughter Muriel; her son-in-law Henry; and her grandsons Angus and Reynold.
She is survived by her children: Ralph (Ruth), Denis (Isabelle), Reynold (Kathy), Jennie (Todd), Teddy (Grace), Riley (Janet), Rene (Barbara), Randy (Laverne), and Wesley (Loretta). She is also survived by her grandchildren: Oliver, Susie, Paul, Pierre, Roberta, Robin, Rita, Ralph Jr., Denise, Helen, Alice, Christopher, Denis Jr., David, Ronnie, Colleen, Dodi, Sonny, Gaylord, Candace, Samantha, Joshua, Deon, Amy, Randi, Dean, Adrian, Gina, Molly, Kateri, Jake, Rene Jr., Jared, Kristeen, Randy Jr., Ian, Bishop, Benjamin, Stella, and Clara; seventy nine great grandchildren; as well as 4 great-great grandchildren.
Wake began on Thursday, May 29, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. at her residence in Sandy Bay First Nation, Manitoba.
Funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Sandy Bay First Nation, Manitoba with Father Roy George Vazhaplankudiyil officiating. Interment followed in the Sandy Bay Cemetery.
