Lena Edith Saunders
1919-2008

The death of Lena Saunders occurred at the Orchard View Nursing Home at the age of 89 on November 24th, 2008. Born August 28, 1919 in Lower Hainesville, she was a daughter of the late Wilson and Arvilla (Stairs) Hickey and wife of the late Donald J. Saunders.

She is survived by her daughter, Grace (Allan) Chapman of Cambridge-Narrows; daughter-in-law, Nanette Saunders of Gagetown; brothers, Mitchell (Lorraine) and Chester (Marjorie) Hickey; sisters-in-law, Violet and Geraldine Hickey as well as Anna and Jean Saunders. Loving grandmother to June (Terry) George, David (Melissa), Joey, Dennis (Stephanie Houle), Michael (Ruth) Saunders, Stephen Chapman, Diane (David) Standen and Kent (Pattie) Chapman. Proud great-grandmother to Meghan, Linzie, Courtney, Jeremy, Cory, Sabrina, Todd, Amanda, Travis, Jessica, Michael, Katherine, Austin and Taylor as well as several nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her parents, husband, Donald; sons, Richard, Ardean and Ronald; brothers, Wesley, Stanley and Donald; sisters, Beatrice Scott, Verna Saunders, Mary Ingraham and Eva Trail.

Visitation will be held at Oromocto Select Community Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 26th, 2008 from 2-8 pm.

A funeral service will be held from the funeral home chapel on Thursday, November 27th, 2008 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Gerald Nickerson officiating. Interment will occur in the Prince William Cemetery. Her family wishes to gratefully thank the Orchard View Nursing Home Staff for their kind, compassionate care of their loved one and the Oromocto Select Community Funeral Home for their professional services. William Nash
1922-2008

The death of William Nash occurred on Monday, November 24th, 2008 at the Oromocto Public Hospital. William was the son of the late James and Lena (Sabattis) Nash and loving husband to Mildred E. (Linton) Nash. He was born on May 26th, 1922 in Gagetown, where he grew up and lived his life.

Bill is survived by his wife, Mildred E. Nash; children, Melvin Nash (Yvonne), Bazil Nash (Barb), William Nash (Valerie), Dorothy O’Donnell (Dave), Evelyn London (Donald) and Steven Jimmo (Nola); step-children, David VonRichter (Etta), Brian VonRichter (Ada), Bruce VonRichter (Lucy), Glendon VonRichter and Ken VonRichter (Sandra); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Viola Paul, Evelyn Boone and Robert Nash as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife, Mildred M. Nash and several brothers and sisters.

Bill loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, trapper, fisher and bingo player. He could be seen doing these activities all year round even after his retirement at the age of 77.

Visitation will be held at the Oromocto Select Community Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 26th, 2008 from 6-9 pm. A funeral service will be held from the funeral home chapel on Thursday, November 27th, 2008 at 10:00 am with Rev. Ken Weir officiating and Rev. Michael Orser assisting. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. (357-5100)

Gertrude Agnes Murphy
1934-2008

Gertrude Agnes Murphy passed away at the Oromocto Public Hospital on November 25th, 2008 in her 74th year. Born in Corner Brook NF, she is survived by her husband James, her son Gary and his wife Crystal of Halifax, NS, her daughter Catherine and her partner Roy, of Oromocto, NB, three grandchildren, Nichole, Stephanie and Rebecca. Also survived by her three sisters, Hilda Walker of PE, Monica and Mary of USA and many friends. Burial services will be in Corner Brook, NF at a later date, For those who wish, memorial tributes made to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. Oromocto Select Community Funeral Home, Oromocto, NB is entrusted with arrangements.

Roger Gerard Haché
1937-2008

After a short battle with cancer and surrounded by his family, Roger Gerard Haché passed away peacefully at home on December 21st, 2008 a few weeks shy of his 72nd birthday. Born in Bathurst, NB, he was the son of the late Napoleon Haché and Cécile Haché (Nee Doucet). He was the beloved husband of Helen Haché (nee Staples), loving father of Nicole (Réjean), Jean-Pierre (Dominique) and Guy (Nathalie) and cherished grandfather of Jonathan, Marie-Hélène, Louis-Philippe, Alexandre, Vincent and Frédérike. He was the brother of Dr. Alban Haché and Claudette Hachey (nee Haché).

The family will like to thank Dr. Peter Fraser, the amazing nurses from the Extra-Mural-Oromocto, as well as the doctors and nurses of the Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital Oncology unit and Moncton Hospital Neurosciences Unit for their care and support.

There will be no visitation by request. A private service will be held and internment will occur at a later date in Prince Edward Island. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Dr-Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital Foundation, Oncology Dept, to the Extra-Mural-Oromocto (275 Restigouche Road, Oromocto, NB E2V 2H1) or to a palliative care unit of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

Arrangements are in care of Oromocto Select Community Funeral Home, at 357-5100.

Mary Catherine Saunders

The death of Mary Catherine (Murphy) Saunders, wife of Roy Matthew of Oromocto, NB, occurred at the Oromocto Public Hospital on Wednesday, December 17th, 2008. Born in Corner Brook, NL, she was the daughter of Jim Murphy and the late Gertrude Agnes Murphy.

Katherine is survived by her husband Roy, her father Jim, and three daughters, Nichole Saunders and Stephanie Saunders of Oromocto, NB, and Rebecca Saunders of Moncton, NB; one brother, Gary Murphy and his wife Chrystal of Halifax, NS.

There will be no visitation by request. A memorial service will be held at the Oromocto Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, December 20th, 2008 at 2:00 PM with Fr. Ken Weir officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in Newfoundland. For those who wish, memorial tributes made to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Oromocto Select Community Funeral Home.

John Joseph Emoff

The death of John Joseph Emoff, husband of Theresa (Roussell) Emoff of Lincoln, NB, occurred on Sunday, February 22, 2009 at that Oromocto Public Hospital. Born in Chatham Head, NB, son of the late John and Philomene (Savoie) Emoff.

John worked as a Lumberman in both New Brunswick and Ontario. He worked for over 10 years with Swifts Adhesives in Ontario. He and Theresa moved back to New Brunswick in 1982 and he became employed with CFB Base Gagetown as a Carpenters Helper until his retirement in 1995. He was a longtime and active member of St. Francis of Assissi Catholic Church and was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus.

John is survived by his wife Theresa; three sons, Leo (Joanne) of Tracy, NB, Gilbert (Sandra) of Brampton, ON, and John (Susi Warren) of Rusagonis, NB; three daughters, Glendene (John Bock) of Alliston, ON, Darlene Aitken (Jim Bragg) Peterborough, ON, and Marlene Lawe of Peterborough, ON; 7 brothers, Archie of Bradford, ON, Lloyd (Laura) Winnipeg, MN, Roy (Margaret) Bradford, ON, Bernard of Oshawa, ON, Joe (Janice) of Brampton, ON, Raymond (Betty) of Brampton, ON, and Jeanette Diamante also of Brampton, ON; his mother-in-law, Virginia Comeau; 9 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, 2 brothers, Leo and Walter and one sister, Ovilda Hachey.

The family will receive visitors at the Oromocto Select Community Funeral Home, 108 Winnebago Street, Oromocto on Tuesday February 24th, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 25th, 2009 at 12:00 Noon at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Fr. Monte Peters as Celebrant. Interment will take place in the adjoining cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, memorial tributes made to the Alzheimer’s Society or the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

Edward Vaughan Daly
1943-2009

The sudden passing of Edward (Vaughan) Daly of Oromocto, NB husband of Theresa (Fitzpatrick) Daly, occurred at his home in Oromocto, NB on March 23, 2009 he was 66.

He was the son of the late Blake and Ada (King) Daly. He was born February 16th, 1943 in Sydney, NS.

Vaughan retired from a career in the Military after 32yrs of service and many peace keeping tours in 1992. He was a very private individual who enjoyed the outdoors hunting and fishing and had a love for animals that was only surpassed by his love for his family.

He is survived by his wife of 48 yrs Theresa (Fitzpatrick) Daly and 3 Children, Vaughn Daly of Oromocto, NB, Denise Daly of Toronto, ON and Shawna-Lynn Daly of Oromocto, NB. In addition to his immediate family Vaughan is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Byrel (Coleman) Rice of Digby, NS, John (Betty) Daly of Kingston, ON, Dennis (Mary) Daly of London, ON, Dawn (Bill) Warren of Chatham, ON, and Janis (Anival) DeCosta, also of Chatham, ON. Grandchildren Blake, Ian, Ryan, Janise, Adam, Jake and Alyssa.

There will be no visitation or service by request of the family. The family will be getting together at a later date to celebrate Vaughan’s life should you wish more information in regard to this celebration please contact Vaughn Daly. Donations in Edward’s memory may be made to the Lung Association. Arrangements have been entrusted to Oromocto Select Community Funeral Home, 357-5100.

Donald (Rod) Croucher
1944-2009

It is with great sadness that the family of Donald (Rod) Croucher announces his passing at the Oromocto Public Hospital on March 25th, 2009. He leaves to mourn his wife, Dianne Donnelle of Waasis, NB; son, Rod (Melanie) Croucher of Fort Saskatchewan, AB; brother, Carl (Debbie) Croucher of Fredericton, NB; sisters, Lillian (Russell) Corey of Labrador and Dora (Cliff) Strangemore of Mainbrook, NL and grandchildren, Brittney and Paige Croucher. Donald was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Hazel Croucher; brothers, Victor and Roy Croucher and sister, June Astle.

Visitation will be held at Oromocto Select Community Funeral Home, 108 Winnebago St., on Friday, March 27th, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will take place at St. Lukes Chapel, CFB Gagetown on Saturday, March 28th, at 2pm with Padre Malcolm Berry officiating. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #93 will hold a tribute service at the funeral home Friday at 2pm. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to Fisher House. 357-5100.

Trooper Corey Hayes
1987-2009

Trooper Corey Hayes died on March 20th, 2009 in service to his country on Task Force 08-03 Afghanistan at the age of 22. Raised in Ripples, N.B., he attended Minto Memorial High School and Wawanesa High School in Manitoba.

He loved to be with his friends, play hockey, skateboard and participate in most extreme sports.

Corey will always be remembered with a smile and encouraging words by his mother Donna Beek, his stepfather Bertramn Beek, his father Joe Hayes, his stepbrother Robert Beek, his half brothers James and Patrick Beek and Craig and Kyle Moretto along with his half sister Bethany Hayes. He will also be remembered by his grandparents Ralph and Jenny Beek and Amelia Deme as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Corey’s visitation will be held at St. Luke’s Chapel, CFB Gagetown, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on March 30th, 2009.

A military funeral service will take place at St. Luke’s Chapel, CFB Gagetown, at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 31st, 2009. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Oromocto Select Community Funeral Home. 357-5100.
