Minister of Human Resources
Jan Pullinger was appointed Minister of human Resources on February 18, 1998.
Prior to that, Ms. Pullinger served as Minister of Small Business, Tourism and Culture from September 1996. She served as Parliamentary Secretary Responsible for Cooperatives, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Finance and Corporate Relations, and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Education, Skills and Training.
Ms. Pullinger was first elected in 1989 and was reelected in 1991 and 1996. She represents the riding of Cowichan-Ladysmith.
She has worked as a researcher, businesswoman, community worker and organizer.
Born and educated in Vancouver, Ms. Pullinger received her diploma in Canadian studies at Malaspina College in Nanaimo, completed a bachelor of arts degree in the same field at Carleton University in Ottawa, and pursued studies in B.C. and Canadian history at the University of Victoria.
She has one adult son, Brett, and has raised several foster children.
