Ronald William Alexander McNamara

September 20, 1940 - October 11, 2004

McNAMARA, Ronald William Alexander - 64, Halifax, passed away peacefully in the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax, on Monday, October 11, 2004.

Born in Evanston, Cape Breton, he was a son of the late Gus and Annie Jane (MacDonald) McNamara.

In earlier years, Ronald worked as a cook with the CNR, he then worked for many years as a transmission mechanic in the metro area.

In retirement he continued to work in small appliance repairs.

He was an active member of the Roman Catholic faith, the Blue Knight's Motorcycle Association, and both the Halifax and Nova Scotia Wildlife Associations.

He is survived by his wife, Doris K. (McGowan) McNamara; special nephew, Alan McGowan, Halifax, whom Ronald loved and raised as a son; brothers, Martin (Kay), Evanston; George (Ann), Fredericton, N.B.; Karl (Linda), Evanston; sisters, Margaret Johnson, Evanston; Eileen (Bart) Reinders, Evanston; Alfreda (Joe) McPhee, Evanston, Vera (Basil) Borgue, River Bourgeois; sisters-in-law, Fay Spencer, Halifax; Marjorie (Hugh) Brownell, Halifax; a large number of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was predeceased by sisters, Eileen Frances and Marguarite.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax, where visitation will take place 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, October 13.

Funeral service 2 p.m. Thursday, October 14, in the funeral home chapel.

Reception to follow. Burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Lower Sackville.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice.

Shirley J. Wilson (née Mombourquette)

February 17, 1946 - August 01, 2004

WILSON, Shirley J. - 58, Halifax, passed away August 1, 2004, in the arms of loved ones.

It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Shirley after a brief and courageous battle with cancer.

Shirley was born and raised in Halifax.

She was retired from the Canadian Housing and Mortgage Corporation.

She will always be remembered fondly by everyone who knew her for her kind, loving ways and laughter.

She was predeceased by her mother and father, Harold and Stella (Bouffard) Mombourquette; brothers, John and Roy. She is survived by her loving husband, Bernie; daughter, Jennifer ("I will always love you and miss you Mom"); sister, Millie (Don); brothers, Raymond (Irene), Harry (Jean), Ronnie (Patsy), Jerry; Mrs. Roy Mombourquette (Marlene), Mrs. John Mombourquette (Jeanie); best friend, Patricia (Huppie).

Cremation has taken place.

Funeral mass will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 4, in St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church, corner of Robie Street and Normandy Drive, Father Gilbert J. Bertrand, O.M.I. officiating.

Reception to follow in the church hall.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to QEII Foundation for Cancer Research.

Special thanks to the Palliative Care team and to all our great friends and family for all your love and support.

Kathryn Flora McPherson

April 30, 1916 - August 02, 2004

McPHERSON, Kathryn Flora - 88, Halifax, passed away at home in the early hours of August 2, 2004.

Born April 30, 1916, she was a daughter of the late John and Flora (MacDonald) McPherson.

Kathryn was an avid reader, devout Catholic and a marvelous gardener.

She was predeceased by her brothers, Michael, Father Donald, John, Allan and Colin McPherson; nephew, Colin.

She is survived by her sister and best friend, Mary; nieces, Flora, Toronto; Corinne and Claire, Halifax; nephew, Allan McPherson, Halifax.

She is also survived by the pride and joys of her life, her great-nephews, Allan and Jeff McPherson, Halifax; John Hall, New York; Peter Hall, Montreal; Gregory Slack-McPherson, Halifax, and great-niece, Kate McPherson, Dartmouth.

Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. today in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax.

Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, Bayers Road, Halifax, Father Thomas White officiating. Burial to follow.

George Frank Jollymore

January 19, 1924 - July 28, 2004

JOLLYMORE, George Frank - 80, 28 Idlewilde Rd., Armdale, died Wednesday, July 28, 2004, in QEII Health Sciences Centre.

Born in Pictou, he was a son of the late George and Nellie (Cook) Jollymore.

He was a retired stationary engineer from the Department of National Defence and served with the 7th Anti-Tank Regiment in the Second World War.

He was past president of the W8AA, and was involved with the Armdale Minor Hockey Association.

He also played with the Dartmouth Crawlers Old Timers Hockey.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, the former Gwendolyn Lanigan; sons, George J. (Diane), James L., (Carol), Frank D. (Brenda), John W. (Shirley), Thomas R. (Brenda); daughters, Adele (Ronnie), Cathy (Gary); 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by brother, Roy; sisters, Moyra, Florence; half-brothers, Percy, James, Harry, Jack; half-sisters, Bessie, Mable, Beatrice.

Visitation will be today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., funeral service will be Saturday, July 31, at 10:30 a.m., both in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or Canadian Diabetes Association.
