Peacefully at Queens Gardens, surrounded by his family on Thursday June 23, 2011 in his 97th year. Beloved husband of Rita (nee Mattina) for 53 years. Loving father and father-in-law of Charles and Rosemary Chiarelli, Francesca and Bernie Mahony. Loving nonno of Anthony, Angela, Ryan, Lauren and Brent. Dear son of the late Calogero and Maria Assunta Chiarelli. Dear brother and brother-in-law of the late Joe and the late Lilly Chiarelli, the late Salvatore and the late Maria Chiarelli, the late Rosa and the late Stefano Tirone, Vincenza and the late Salvatore DiPuma, the late Alfonso and Croce Chiarelli, Calogero and Maria Chiarelli, Concetta and Nino Gagliardi. Dear brother-in-law of the late Nicolo and Concettina Mattina, Giovanna and Angelo Farrauto. Paolo will be remembered by many nieces and nephews in Canada, United States and Italy. Special thanks to all the staff at Queens Gardens (Mountain Brow) for their kindness and support. Visitation will be held at FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 43 Barton Street East (near James) on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-9 pm. Vigil Prayers Sunday at 8 pm. John Edward Pitt
(September 17, 1956 - June 26, 2011)
After a courageous battle with cancer, at the Hamilton General Hospital on Sunday, June 26, 2011, at the age of 60. Beloved husband of Carol. Loving father of John, Chris, and Corey. Brother of Pauline, Joanne and Debbie. Will be sadly missed by nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours. The family would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses, and Staff at the Juravinski Cancer Centre, and, the Hamilton General Hospital for the care and compassion shown to John and his family. Visitation at FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 43 Barton Street East (near James Street), Tuesday 7 - 9 p.m. and Wednesday 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. Service in the chapel on Thursday, June 30, 2011 at 1pm. Cremation to follow. Interment of cremated remains will take place at Gate of Heaven cemetery at a later date. If desired, memorial donations to the Juravinski Cancer Centre would be appreciated by the family.

Alberto Filice
(Died July 28, 2011)
FILICE, Alberto Peacefully with his family at his side on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at the Bob Kemp Hospice in his 82nd year. Beloved husband of Gina Filice for 50 years. Loving father to Angela and her husband Sarino Genovese, to Carmine and his wife Lisette and to Michael. Cherished grandfather of Daniella, David, Simon and Elina. Alberto is survived by his sister, Erminia Filice and his brother-in-law Gaetano DeVuono (Ida) and predeceased by relatives both in Italy and in Canada. For 31 years Alberto was a proud employee for the City of Hamilton and enjoyed each day on the job. Long time member of the Donnici Social Club and accompanist for the Corro Abbruzzese. He derived great joy from his love of music and shared his passion with countless others throughout his life. Alberto's kindness, humility and gentleness will be fondly remembered by anyone who shared his company. His unconditional love and quiet spirit will continue to inspire all of us to be better people. The family wishes to sincerely thank all the staff and volunteers at the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice who worked tirelessly to offer outstanding and exceptional support for Alberto and Gina for many months. Special thanks to Maggie and the Red Cross, Dr. Ed Mantle, and to Gina's neighbours. Visitation will be held at the Friscolanti Funeral Home, 43 Barton St. E., on Monday from 2-4 p.m. and from 6-9 p.m. The Rosary will be recited on Monday at 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Anthony's Church, 165 Prospect St. N. at Barton. Peacefully at St. Peter’s Hospital on Sunday July 31, 2011 at the age of 87. Predeceased by her beloved Stanley (1983), her son, Leonard, grandson Michael and great-grandson Gary Kotar Jr. Loving mother of Joan Desveaux (Lawrence), Christine "Tina" Thomas, Joseph Thomas (Lorna), and mother-in-law of Dorene Wilkinson. Cherished grandmother of Frank (Arlaine), Laura (Greg), Pamela (Darren), Paul (Casie), Angela (Scott), Jeff (Janice), Matthew (Erin), Bryan (Siobhan), Spencer, Kelsey, and Jordan. Great-grandmother of 14. Sister of the late Anna Solimka (the late Joe), the late Anthony DeNardis (the late Carol), the late Albert DeNardis (Helen), and the late Arthur DeNardis “Tido” (Amy). She will be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A very heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff of 2 West and 4 East at St. Peter’s Hospital on Maplewood, your care for Dorothy will always be remembered. Peacefully, after a courageous battle, on July 16, 2011, at the age of 75, at Brantford General Hospital. Husband of Elainia Agapas. Loving father of Tim (Cathy), Lisa and Romolo. Close friend of Carol and Marc. Dear grandfather of Taylor Maria Smith. Predeceased by his parents Gildo and Maria and brother Romolo. Survived by his sisters Nella D’Angelo (the late Luciano) and Giovanna Manazzone (Gastone). Ennio will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends in both Canada and Italy. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the nurses at C7 at Brantford General Hospital. Visitation will take place at FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 43 Barton St. E (Near James) on Tuesday, 6-9 p.m. A funeral service will be offered in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, July 20th at 11 a.m. Cremation will follow. Loving father of Lina Frewin (Dwayne), Angela Pugliese, and Mima Marrin (Jerome). Nonno will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Nicole, Danielle, James, Joshua, and Julia. Predeceased by his parents Domenico and Pasqualina Pugliese, and his sister Carmela Scutella (the late Pino). Dear brother-in-law of Vincenzo Tripodi (Anne) of Niagara Falls, Ontario. Also survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law in Italy. Will be remembered by numerous, nieces, nephews and cousins in Canada, United States and Italy. It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Gaetano in his 78th year, on the 18th of July, 2011. Beloved husband of Olga (DiBenedetto) for 45 years. Loving father of Josie, John, Carm (McCormick) and father-in-law of Kevin. Loving Nonno to Olivia and Norah. Predeceased by his parents Giovanni and Guiseppina Iacozza. Dear brother and brother-in-law of the late Maria and Gaetano Bonitatibus of Italy, Margaret and the late Donato D'Alesio, the late Carmelina (Cipriani) and Frank and Pauline Cipriani, Vera and Guido Restauri, Tony and Mirella Iacozza. Beloved brother-in-law of the late Loretta and Agostino Pace, Agata and the late Carmine DiBenedetto, the late Mario DiBenedetto, Angelo and Anna DiBenedetto, Tony and Lia DiBenedetto, Victor and Tina DiBenedetto. Predeceased by niece Anna Rombeiro, and fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and cousins in Canada and Italy. Gaetano was a hard working man, retired from Stelco after 32 years of service and was a member of the Abruzzo Choir for many years. We wish to express our deepest gratitude to the many caring and compassionate nurses, doctors and staff at St. Joseph's Hospital, especially the Urology team. (June 7, 1922 - July 21, 2011)
ROSSATO, Lucia (nee Testolin) passed away peacefully at Juravinski Hospital on Thursday, July 21, 2011, in her 90th year, after post-operative heart complications. Beloved wife of the late Agostino Rossato who passed away on November 20, 1997. Beloved mother and mother-in-law of Flavia and David St. Clair of Burlington. Loving Nonna to grand-daughters Renata and Natalie. Lucia Rossato was a long-standing member of Club Vicentini and was well known in Hamilton as “la signora dei profumi” as she was the first Italian speaking Avon lady in the city. Many thanks to the caring staff at Juravinski Hospital who made her last few days as comfortable as possible. Adoring nonno of Andrea, Marc, Julia, Nathan, Hannah, Benjamin, Jonathan, Lauren and Paul. Predeceased by his parents Raffaele and Anna (D'Aurora) and in-laws Liberatore and Isabella Trombetta. Loving brother and brother-in-law to Eriberto and Teresa Pace, Domenica Ciavarone, Michelina Pace, Guiseppina Pace, Michelina Grilli, Concetta D'Alesio, Giuseppe and Pasqua Trombetta. Predeceased by brothers and sisters Rosaria and Cesidio DiRienzo, Brigida and Rocco DiIanni, Benigno Pace, Carmine Pace, Antonio and Rina Pace, Vittorio and Piera Pace, Gaetanina Pace, Rosario Grilli, Pietro and Margherita Trombetta, Ascenzo and Giselda Trombetta, Antonio and Pia Trombetta and Antonio D'Alesio. Predeceased by nephew Liberatore DiRienzo and niece Cleonice DiIanni. Survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews in Hamilton, Italy, the USA and Australia. Umberto was a retired employee of Dofasco with 40 years of service, a member of the Knights of Columbus, council 1454; and one of the founding members and past treasurer of the Pettorano Sul Gizio Recreation Club. Nonno Umberto had two passions, his garden and his grandchildren. Visitation will
