1960 - 2009

Walker, David - of North Bay, suddenly on Thursday, November 12th, 2009. David William James Walker at the age of 49 years. Beloved son of Terry (Fran) Walker and the late former Lonnie Flint. Cherished brother of Janice Ramsay (Dan), of Owen Sound; Tim Walker, of Brampton; Carole (John Phelan), of Owen Sound; Dan Miller (Dawn), of Kitchener; Jeff Walker (Hillary), of Mississauga; and Rick Walker (Chelsea), of Oakville. Forever missed by partner and friend Donna; his children Timothy, Jordan, and Jessica; and his uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by grandparents James and Wilma Flint, and William and Dorothy Walker. Cremation has taken place. A private service to celebrate David's life will be conducted from the Thomas C. Whitcroft Peninsula Chapel, 272 Berford St., Wiarton (519) 534-5341. As your expression of sympathy, the family would appreciate a donation to the charity of your choice.

1952 - 2010

Pew, Gordon (Gord) - peacefully at Grey Bruce Health Services Wiarton on Sunday, February 14, 2010 after a lengthy illness. Gordon Leroy Pew of Wiarton in his 58th year. Husband of the former Monika Smith. Cherished father of Matt, and Sandi (partner Chris McDermid), all of Wiarton. Devoted son of Peter and Bernice (nee Hyatt), of Oliphant. Brother of Murray and his wife Janet, of Owen Sound; Jim and his wife Margot, of Allenford; and Karen Stuart-Smith, of Cambridge. Brother-in-law of Dan Smith, of Wiarton. Sadly missed by his nieces, nephews and many friends. Predeceased by a sister Marjorie Pew. The family invite friends to join them to share stories, food and memories at the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 208 Wiarton on Saturday, February 20th, 2010 from 1 - 3 pm. Cremation has taken place. Norm Thompson
1932 - 2010

Thompson, Norman "Norm" - of RR#3 Lion's Head, at Grey Bruce Health Services Lion's Head on Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010. Norman James Thompson at the age of 77 years. Loving husband and best friend of Jean (nee McVittie) for over 56 years. Cherished father of Rick and his wife Nancy, of Hope Ness; Kell and his wife Donna, and Blaine and his wife Carrie, both of Spry; and Myrna and her husband Sandy Dobbyn, of Strathroy. Grandfather of Erin (Goby Klerks), Angie Thompson (partner Shaun Brinkman), Amanda Thompson, Marty Thompson, Brooke Thompson, Adam Thompson, Courtney Thompson, Tony Dobbyn, and Christina Dobbyn; and great-grandfather of Lexy and Brianna Klerks. Brother of Vernice McLay (Martin), and Merle Ellis (Bill), both of London; and brother-in-law of Donna Hamms (Murray), of Blythe. Sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews and friends. Norm will be remembered for his work with local 4-H; time on Eastnor Council; being "Coach Norm" to local sports teams; and a Past-Director and Past-President of the Grey Bruce Livestock Co-operative. He was a member of Spirit Rock Lodge #312 IOOF Wiarton. Predeceased by his parents Russell and Hilda (nee Mackie). Friends are invited to call at the Bethel Missionary Church, 18 Ferndale Road, Lion's Head on Friday, February 5th, 2010 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A service to celebrate Norm's Life will be held at the Church on Saturday morning at 11:00. Tap Johnston
1964- 2010

Johnston, Tappani "Tap" - suddenly at his Cape Croker residence on Sunday, January 31st, 2010. Tappani Peter Lawrence Johnston at the age of 44 years. Loving father of Curtis Beeswax, of Muncey First Nation, and Evan Jones, of Cape Croker; and grandfather of Brook Tappani George. Cherished brother of Cheryl Johnston, Mary E. Johnston, Kenneth Johnston, Jemelda Lee Johnston, and Eric Johnston, all of Cape Croker; Rozella 'Prin' Johnston (partner Richard Marler), of Innisfil; Tara Johnston, of Orillia; and Angela Johnston (partner Bill Ruland), of Saugeen Ojibway Territory. "Uncle Tap" is fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews, and sadly missed by his many cousins and friends. Tap is predeceased by his parents Orville Johnston and Delena (nee Keeshig); and was the grandson of Alex Johnston and Beatrice (nee Jones), and Gregor Keeshig and Mary (nee Akiwenzie). The family invite everyone to gather with them at the Cape Croker Community Centre on Thursday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM, where a service to celebrate Tap's life will be conducted on Friday, February 5th, 2010 at 11 o'clock. Johnston, Dorothy "Dolly" - of Cape Croker, peacefully with her family at her side at Grey Bruce Health Services Wiarton on Monday, January 18th, 2010. Dorothy Ellen Johnston at the age of 80 years. Cherished mother of Billy (Mary Anne), Freddy, Eva (Jerry), Marie (Dan), Wayne (Nancy), Susan (Terry), Mike, Patty (Dennis), Kathy (Tom); and Dolly's Guardian Angel, her grandson Nick (Samee). Fondly remembered by her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Devoted sister of Ross Johnston (Dorothy), Keitha (Don Keeshig), Charles Johnston (Betty), Ted Johnston (Phylis), and Bernice (Lorne Hill). 'Aunt Dolly' to her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers and sisters Orville Johnston, Eric Johnston, Iola Keeshig, and her twin sisters. Family invite the community to gather with them at the Cape Croker Community Centre on Tuesday evening from 7 - 9 pm and Wednesday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated from the Cape Croker Catholic Church on Thursday, January 21st, 2010 morning at 11 o'clock. Cremation to follow. King, June - of Saugeen First Nation, at University Hospital, London on Saturday, January 16th, 2010. The former Gloria June Petonoquot at the age of 64 years. Cherished mother of Paul King (Cory), of Saugeen First Nation; Nancy Indoe (Gary), of Southampton; Terri-Sue Hayward, of Victoria BC; and Cynthia King. Forever remembered by her grandchildren, especially Trevor King, Dawn Indoe (partner Scott Wardrop), Cherie Indoe, and Amber Indoe; and great-granddaughter Korrina Indoe-Wardrop. Devoted sister of Barbara Charlebois, of Midland; Joanne Mason (Theodore), of Saugeen First Nation; Leslie Petonoquot Jr., of Vancouver BC; Gene Petonoquot, and Cary Petonoquot, both of Saugeen First Nation. Sadly missed by her sister-in-law Donna John; and her many nieces, nephews and friends. Predeceased by her parents Leslie and Winnifred; best friend and partner Glen Hart; brother Maitland Petonoquot; and uncle Hilliard 'Neeb' Besito. Roote, Monica "Nicki" - of Saugeen First Nation, suddenly at Grey Bruce Health Services Owen Sound on Wednesday, January 13th, 2010. The former Monica Raye Kewageshig at the age of 49 years. Loving wife and best friend to Mike for over 34 years. Cherished mother of Nick, Kim and her partner Derek Roote, and Marshall, all of Saugeen First Nation. Devoted grandma to Nikita Maisie Roote; Brody, Breanna and Brynn Roote; and Leda Roote. Sister of Faith Crowe, of Toronto; Bonnie Mason (Allan), Jacquiline Kewageshig, Trudy Jacobs (partner Philip Ritchie), Larry Kewageshig (partner Peggy), and Tom Kewageshig (partner Margaret Lavalley), all of Saugeen First Nation. Sister-in-law of Tony Roote, Steve Roote (Marilyn), and Cory King (Paul), all of Saugeen First Nation. Lovingly remembered by her father-in-law Daniel Roote; and her many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Predeceased by her parents Lawrence and Leda; mother-in-law Maisie Roote; brother Murray Kewageshig; and sister Marlene Cameron. Nicki worked at the G'Shawdagawin Day Care Centre and will be forever remembered for her love of children, especially her "grandkids". McCleery, Lindsey "Lynn" - of Red Bay, peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Grey Bruce Health Services Wiarton on Monday, January 11th, 2010. Lindsey William Woods McCleery at the age of 89 years. Loving husband to the former Esther Olive Gwendolyn Thomas for over 53 years. Cherished father of Lise and her husband Mark Pearson, of Mississauga. Devoted brother of Lil Fieldhouse, of Burlington, and Grace Carfrae, of Newmarket; and his sisters-in-law Grace Cruickshank (Bob), Joy Couch, and Ruth Parrest. Sadly missed by his nieces; nephews; and many good friends. Predeceased by his parents Alex and Margaret; brothers Bob and Alec; brothers-in-law; and sisters-in-law. Lynn will be forever remembered for his love of family, and ready smile. He was the founder of "Rust Check". Vanderkaa, Martin - of Oliphant, peacefully at Golden Dawn Nursing Home in Lion's Head on Tuesday, January 5th, 2010 at the age of 74 years. Cherished brother of Bernard Gerhard van der Kaa, of Indonesia and Theodoor van der Kaa, of Netherlands. Sadly missed by Cheryl Vanderkaa (nee Britton) and his many friends. At Martin's request there will be no visitation at this time. Family invite those wishing to attend a future memorial service to register with the funeral home. Cremation has taken place. Bailey, Barbara "Barb" - of Wiarton, courageously after a short battle with cancer surrounded by her daughters and sister on Saturday, January 2nd, 2010. The former Barbara Elizabeth Irvine at the age of 66 years. Cherished mother of Sarah Proulx (Michel), of Smithville, and Jessica Bridge (Scott), of Wiarton. 'Gramma' to Alexander and Conner, and 'Grandma Kitty' to Sam and Jenna. Loving sister to Jane Irvine, of Vernon, BC, and Steven Irvine (Joan), of Big Bay. Aunt to Jennifer and Katherine, of Vancouver; Seth, of Toronto; and Elly, of Owen Sound. Predeceased by her parents Nathaniel and Barbara; and her infant brother David. Barb was a Registered Nurse for over 25 years, and will be forever remembered for her love of her grandchildren. Barb's many hobbies included a fondness of reading, needlepoint, knitting, bird watching and gardening. Family invite friends to gather with them at the Thomas C. Whitcroft Peninsula Chapel, 272 Berford St., Wiarton (519) 534-5341 on Friday, January 8th, 2010 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM. Hepburn, William "Bill" - of Purple Valley, suddenly at Grey Bruce Health Services Wiarton on Thursday, December 31st, 2009. William Allan Hepburn at the age 80 years. Loving husband of the late Audrey (nee Urbshott) for 50 years. Cherished father of Lois Keays, of RR#6 Wiarton; Allan, of Montreal; Rachel Hepburn (and friend Hans Kohler) and Norm and his wife Charlene, all of RR#5 Wiarton; and son-in-law Garth Keays, of Wiarton. Devoted grandfather to Graham Keays,Gillian Keays, Ryan Hepburn and Ben Hepburn. Brother-in-law of Jack Urbshott (Margaret), Bob Urbshott (Gladys), Herb Urbshott (Norma) and Ozzie Thompson. Predeceased by a daughter Barbara (1983); his sister Joyce Crawford (late Charlie); and his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Art Urbshott, Marj Thompson; and his parents Harvey and Elda. Bill owned and operated Hepburn's Sawmill for more than 50 years, and was proud member of the Bruce Peninsula Sportsman Club. At Bill's request cremation has taken place. A service to celebrate Bill's life will be conducted from the Thomas C. Whitcroft Peninsula Chapel, 272 Berford St., Wiarton (519) 534-5341 on Thursday January 7th, 2009 at 2 o'clock with visitation 2 hours prior to service. Interment in Colpoy's Bay Cemetery at a later date. Donations to the Wiarton Hospital or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
