The family of Diane Louise Osborne (nee Harding) announce her peaceful passing on September 11th at the age of 52 at the Red Lake Margaret Cochenour Memorial Hospital, Red Lake, ON.
Diane was born September 17, 1950 in Red Lake, ON. She was raised in Madsen, ON and after graduating from high school, moved to Toronto to become a nurse. She graduated in 1971 and was married on July 17, 1971 to David White (deceased September, 1986). She worked as a nurse in Scarborough, Vancouver and Kenora where she worked for Homecare for 8 years.
She moved to Red Lake and married Arthur Osborne on August 19, 1995. In 2001 Diane and Arthur moved to Chesterfield Inlet, Nunavut and lived there for a year and a half before returning to Red Lake.
Diane is survived by her husband of 8 years, Arthur Osborne, her daughter Emily White, her father, Edward Harding, of Pinecrest Home for the Aged, Kenora, ON, her sisters Evelyn (John) Coop of Kelowna, B.C. and Susan (Lee) Beasant of Kenora, ON and her brothers Ron (Arlene) Harding and Brian (Lori) Harding of Red Lake, ON. She is also survived by nieces and nephews Paula and Zoe Coop, Toronto, ON, Nicole (Ryan) Lentz, Kenora, ON, Blair Beasant, Kenora ON, Dylan (Kate) Beasant, Kelowna, B.C. and Alexis Harding, Red Lake, On, and great-nephews Skylar and Connor Lentz, Kenora, ON.
Diane was predeceased by her first husband, David White, in September, 1986 and her mother, Elizabeth Harding, in September, 2002.
Diane wanted to extend a special thank you to Dr. Diane Zielke for all of her help, care and concern as she assumed the role not only of her doctor but also as her friend. Thanks also go out to Dr. Chris Jinot and the staff of the Red Lake Medical Centre and the Red Lake Margaret Cochenour Memorial Hospital for their care and support during this difficult time.
Diane found strength and guidance through her many hours spent with Pastor Brian Falkenholt and words cannot express our sincere appreciation.
Another special thank you goes out to her longtime and close friend, Pearl Neidlinger, who provided Diane with support throughout her battle with cancer.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 13th at the Christ Lutheran Church, Red Lake, ON with Pastor Brian Falkenholt officiating. Interment was held at St. Carthagh s cemetery , Tweed, ON, on Tuesday September 16. Pallbearers included Brian Harding, Ken Burgess, Alan Blanchard, Ralph Metzner, Robert Senick and Jesse Clayfield.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Diane's name to the Kidney Foundation of Canada through the Stevens Funeral Homes in Red Lake Chapel, Box 237, Red Lake, ON P0V 2M0.

Charles Chicago
Mr. Charles Chicago passed away Thursday, September 25, 2003 at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital.
He was predeceased by his parents, Frances and Frank.
He is survived by his two sisters Annie Boucher and Harriet Chicago, and his brother Dave Chicago, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, October 01, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at the Fellowship Centre with Henry Hildebrandt officiating. Interment will take place at Lac des Mille Lacs First Nation at a later date.

Tucker Andrew Compton
It is with great sorrow that we share the news of the birth and death of our baby boy, Tucker Andrew Compton. Tucker came to us on August 28th at 8:48 in the morning and left us on August 29th just shortly after 5:00 in the afternoon.
We may never have an answer as to why Tucker was taken from us so suddenly, and as painful as it is, we manage to get through one day at a time with the love and support of family and very special friends. We are very thankful for the time we were given with our beautiful son as we were able to tell him we love him, to Baptize him, and to say good-bye when he decided it was time to go. We believe that we were given this time because of the excellent medical care given to Tucker. We extend a very special Thank You to Drs. Beveridge, Harland, Vaudry, and Wehner, the wonderful Nurses on the Maternity Ward at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital, as well as to the Doctors and Nurses who looked after Tucker at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg.
Tucker is survived by his parents Jeff and Tracy (Lindstrom) Compton, grandparents: Len and Sandy Compton and Don and Jan Lindstrom; great-grandfather Ernest Lindstrom; aunts and uncles: Scott and Gwen Compton, Marc and Shelley (Compton) St. Hilaire, Bart and Nancy (Compton) Yabsley, Tom Lindstrom, Mark and Michelle (Lindstrom) Gaudet, Jody Lindstrom (Rob Sweeney). He is also survived by his cousins: Madeline, Lisle, and Roy Compton, Matthew, Riley, and Hope St. Hilaire, and Meaghan and Erin Yabsley. Several great-aunts and uncle survive Tucker as well.
A private family service will be held at Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Centre. We ask that in lieu of flowers anyone wishing to do so, make a donation to either the Maternity Ward at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital or to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Children's Hospital at Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg.
The greatest mystery of life is that we cannot know its true beginning or end. The end of a life begins a memory - a memory that lives forever.

William Francis Alcock Sr.
1936-2003
The family of William Francis Alcock Sr. (Wild Bill) is very sad to announce the passing of this very incredible man. Bill passed away suddenly on Thursday, October 9, 2003 at his summer residence at Grassy Narrows.
Bill was born to Frank and Ann Alcock (nee Markham). He married the mother of his children and lifelong soul mate Vivian Griffiths in 1956. Together they had four children: William Alcock Jr. (Melody) of Kenora, Frankie (deceased), Arthur Alcock of Kenora, and Leanne Alcock (Troy) of Thunder Bay. Bill also leaves to mourn his grandson Christopher Alcock. Bill and Christopher spent a great deal of time together, and Bill was very proud of Christopher. Bill will also be sadly missed by his mother, Ann Alcock. Bill and Ann shared a special bond only known between a mother and her son.
Bill will also be deeply missed by his sisters: Joan (Carl) Saunders, Grace (Walter) Hagen, and Eva Delorme, all of Kenora, Bobby (Irwin) Wesner of Sprague, MB, Jojo (Henry) Cuthbert of Kenora, and Evelyn Lyles of Thunder Bay. There are many fond memories that will be cherished by Bill's numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Bill will be sadly missed by his many friends, and his special friend Rodney Castle and family.
Bill is predeceased by his son Frankie in 1977, his father Frank in 1967, his brother-in-law Albert Delorme, and his great-nephew Kyle Saunders.
Bill was an exceptional man who loved spending time fishing and hunting with his family, and especially with his grandson Christopher. Bill's happiest hours were spent outdoors. He was a member of the North American Hunting and Fishing Association.
Bill had many accomplishments in life. He was especially proud of his time served in the Armed Forces, which he enlisted with in 1953. Bill was well known throughout Kenora for his expertise in operating heavy equipment. When he was not on a grader, you would likely find Bill fishing on the River. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and will be remembered for bringing home fish for all to see. Not a single moose-hunting season went by with Bill coming home empty handed. He would later process the meat into sausage, which filled his freezer. Bill was not a person to sit idle. He could often be found tinkering with old motors. There wasn't anything he couldn't fix. He also enjoyed cooking and enjoyed very much listening to country music.
Bill looked forward to visits with his Yankee friends that travelled every year to see him and his very best friend Dixie at his bus in Grassy Narrows.
Bill had an incredible sense of humour and always liked a good joke and to make people laugh. He had a special way with children and loved to tease and play with them. He will leave many children that knew him with many fond memories.
Bill will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Now the moose in Unit 5 will be safe.
In accordance with Bill's wishes, cremation has taken place. A burial will take place in the Lake of the Woods cemetery on Thursday, October 16, 2003 at 12:00 Noon.
The Alcock family would like to invite all of Bill's friends to a gathering in Bill's honour to be held on Thursday, October 16, 2003 between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. at the Rideout Community Club.

In 1936 this world came to be
A much better place for all- you see.
Bill Alcock was born- a cute wee one
And that's when his mother's world begun.
Mom had many reasons to start the day
Because Bill brought so much happiness her way.
He was her first, the bond had come,
And Bill and Mom's relationship had begun.
He was soon outnumbered with 5 silly girls
That he teased a lot, but thought were pearls.
But he would try to give us girls his jobs
Yes, to Joan, Grace, Eva, Jojo and Bob.
He was very mischievous and reckless at times
He disliked many cops and paid many fines.
Yes, he was mischievous and reckless
But a big heart he had to all his many friends
and the four kids he had.
Bill (Jr.), Frankie, Art and Leanne
Were the four children born to this lucky man.
He loved each one of them in turn
But he was deliriously happy when his grandson was born!
Little Christopher was Bill's pride and joy
You would always hear Bill brag about the boy.
When Chris got older and bigger than a runt,
Grandpa would take him fishing and out to hunt.
Bill loved his many friends and all his family too
He'll be missed by us all, yes me and all of you.
Bill now is with his son Frankie, and talking with his dad
He'll be happy with his two loved ones
And so this should make us glad.
So dear son, brother, father, grandfather and best friend, too
We will miss you forever
And we'll always love you!
