Tribute: Carolyn Carlyle entered into rest at the St. Vincent de Paul Hospital on Friday September 17, 2004. The former Carolyn Janice Presley of Brockville. Beloved wife of Jim Carlyle, dear mother of Tracy Prince (Andrew) of Harrowsmith and Mark Carlyle of Brockville. Loving Grandmother of Cassandra Carlyle and Rachel Prince. Daughter of Thola Presley and the late Clinton Presley. Sister of Earl Presley (Mary) of Nova Scotia, Brad Presley (Susan) of Whitby, and Lori Todd (Brett) of Prescott. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Barclay Funeral Home 137 Pearl St. East Brockville on Monday from 7-9 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. The Funeral Service will follow in the the Chapel at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Morewood cemetery. Grandmother of Crystal Lavery of Ottawa, and Shawn Lavery of Brockville, great grandmother of Tanzey Lavery. Also survived by a brother Charles Borthwick and his wife Margaret of Sarnia, a sister Clara Wagner of Kitchener and a sister in law Bessie Borthwick and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents William Norman Borthwick and his wife Anna Smithson, 2 brothers and 2 sister Robert Borthwick, Letitia (Pat) Christie, Dorothy Watson and Oliver Borthwick in the World War II.

At the request of Mrs. Christie a Private Family Graveside Service will be held at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. In memoriams to the Children's Wish Foundation or the Hospice of Providence Palliative Care would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.

Also survived by a sister Florence (Dolly) Blackwell of Brockville and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by two brothers Art and Harry Southin (twins) and two sisters Lillian Phillips and Margaret Foldeak.

Predeceased by her parents Arthur Clarke and Gertrude Smith Clarke, a brother Jack Clarke and his wife Elva of Brockville and a nephew Geoffery Clarke of Powell River, B.C.

Also survived by an Uncle Frank Hudson of Athens, several nieces and nephews and his father-in-law Lorne Bolton of R.R.1 Portland. Predeceased by his parents Fred Hudson and Gladys Seabrooke Hudson.

Born on May 8th. 1914 near Sauble Falls, ON to the late William and Janet Davidson. Beloved husband of Lillian (Osbourne)
and treasured by his daughters Karen Smith (Cam Kelly) and Lynn Gleason (Dennis) . Loved by his grandchildren Alan Bruce Smith (Kelly Spencer) of Centerville, Liana Smith (Steve Potvin) of Kingston, Troy Gleason (Ellen) of Elizabethtown, Trent Gleason (Sonia) of Brockville. Beloved Pop and Big Pop to his great grandchildren Bryan Alan Bruce Smith, Paige Alexandra Gleason, Olivia Rose Gleason and Breck Davidson Gleason. Also survived by his sisters Helen and Anna Davidson of Mitchell, ON. Bruce was predeceased by his first wife Mary Haigh in 1983, his brother Jack in 1981 and a niece Jacquie in 2005.
Bruce brought the Coca-Cola beverage base operation to Brockville in 1967, only the second one in North America. His proud association with Coca-Cola lasted 64 years. He was active in muncipal goverment for many years, was a loyal and worhty Rotarian and a recipient of Rotarys' highest honour, the Paul Harris Fellowship.Bruce was an avid lawn bowler for over 70 years, and well known for his gardening skills and especially for friendly competetion with the late Alec Stewart, a neighbour and Rotarian buddy over their tomato plants.
Bruce and Mary and later Bruce and Lillian enjoyed extensive travelling, later spending time in their winter home in Clearwater, Florida where they had many friends.
Bruce was happiest surrounded by his family and took great pride in the accomplishments of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was the proud recipient of a silver medal in figure skating presented to him by great granddaughter Paige Gleason who "Skated for Pop" to win it.
Family and friends may pay respects at the Barclay Funeral Home, 137 Pearl St. East Brockville on Sunday May 1st. from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at The First Presbyterian Church, Brockville on Monday May 2nd at 11:00 a.m. Cremation will follow. In memoriams to the First Presbyterian Church, Almost Home(Kingston), CHEO (Ottawa) or the Brockville Lawn Bowling Club would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
