Jimmy, the eldest of 6 children, was a wonderful and well rounded individual who loved life and lived it fully. Both his personal and professional lives were exemplary. He was well loved by family and friends and respected by colleagues.

He was a veteran of WW 2, first as a Sergeant and then as a Captain with the Canadian Forces. He was removed from active service in 1946 after having been awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal.

He valued education and attended the University of Ottawa where he obtained his degree in Commerce. He went on to become a Certified General Accountant (1957) and then a Certified Management Accountant (CMA). He obtained a lifelong membership to the CMA in 1988.

He started his civilian career in Quebec working for Eagle Brand (pencils). After moving to Ontario he eventually worked at the CBC (Canadian Broadcast Corporation) until his retirement.

He was married to his beloved wife Grace for more than 40 years until her passing in 1999. Although they did not have any children of their own they did however enjoy them and were popular with the children in their neighborhood and with the children of friends and family. They enjoyed an active social life.

Jimmy was bilingual and enjoyed reading and speaking in French. He was also active and loved to walk (very quickly). He enjoyed golfing, curling (with the RA Centre), swimming and playing bridge. He appreciated the arts (music and dance) and he and Grace often attended performances at the Ottawa Little Theatre and the National Arts Centre. He enjoyed the outdoors and nature and loved to garden and watch birds.

Since 2002 Jimmy had resided at the Billings Lodge in Ottawa where he was a favorite with the wonderful staff and residents. A true gentleman at heart he was always happy and content. Jimmy was much in demand as a partner due to his dancing skills and was always happy to oblige.

He was generous with his time and attention and holds a very special place in the hearts of the members of the Croft family.

He will always be remembered fondly and greatly missed.
