Wilson - Edith Mildred of Port Stanley, on Thursday, August 1, 2002, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, in her 88th year. Beloved wife of Woodrow Wilson and dearly loved mother of George and his wife Mary (Hughes) Wilson and Wendy Wilson, all of Port Stanley. Dear sister of Audrey Eileen Carroll of London and the late Edna Mabel Taylor. Dear sister-in-law of Margueritte Jeanette Watt of London. Much loved grandmother of Jeffrey and Julie Wilson. Also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Edith was a partner with her husband in Wilson and Loder Fishery. She was a member of St. John’s Presbyterian Church. Public visitation at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A private family service will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Interment Elmdale cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the Lung Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Hooper - Kathleen Hooper (nee McCandless) 1932-2002 passed away peacefully at the Agape Manor Hospice on Sunday, September 22, 2002 at the age of 70 years. She will always be held in the hearts of her children; David (Darlene), Larry, Kim, and Brenda (Cliff) Oliver, her grandchildren; Janene, Shawn, Michael and Lynnette, two sisters Freida and Louise as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Kathleen was predeceased by her loving husband Edward James in 1987, brother Keith in 1955 and also by her parents Cecil and Eloise. Kathleen was a strong and courageous woman who loved life and gardening. Her family meant the world to her. She was always there. FUNERAL SERVICES will be held at LEYDEN’S FUNERAL HOME “Chapel of Remembrance” (17th Avenue and 2nd Street S.W.) on Thursday, September 26, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made in Kathleen’s name directly to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre (1331-29 Street N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 4N2). Funeral arrangements are entrusted to LEYDEN’S FUNERAL HOMES, Calgary, Alberta. Tel. (403)228-4422.

Smith - At the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital on Monday, September 23, 2002. Mrs. Jean (Pangborn) Smith of St. Thomas, wife of the late Cyril E. “Cy” Smith (1982) and the late Kenneth W. Smith (1998), in her 80th year. Born in Rodney, Ontario, May 4, 1923, daughter of the late Charles and Gladys (Humphries) Pangborn. Mrs. Smith was a retired manager at Elmdale Memorial Park, St. Thomas. A member of First United Church, St. Thomas and an associate member of Last Post Branch #410, Royal Canadian Legion, Port Stanley. In addition to her parents and her husbands, she was predeceased by a daughter, Mrs. Susan Davidson (1991). A private funeral service was conducted at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas on Wednesday. Interment was made in Elmdale Memorial Park. Memorial donations to the charity of one’s choice gratefully acknowledged.

Yzeir - At Craigwiel Gardens, Alisa Craig on Monday, September 23, 2002, Mrs. Alberta Yzeir, in her 88th year. Beloved wife of the late Sammy Yzeir (1983). Dear sister of William Allen and his wife Juanita of London. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brother Robert Allen and sisters Alice Frishette, Hilda Claus and Marjorie Barker. A private family funeral service will be conducted in the Lloyd R. Needham Funeral Chapel, 520 Dundas Street, London on Friday, September 27th at 1:00 p.m. (Visitation one hour prior). Interment Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Wouters - Maria Cornalia of R.R. 7, St. Thomas, on Wednesday, September 25, 2002, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, in her 62nd year. Beloved wife of Victor Joseph Wouters and dearly loved mother of Raymond and his wife Patty Wouters and Roger and his wife Cara Wouters, all of R.R. 7, St. Thomas. Loved grandmother of Brittney Wouters. Maria was born in Holland Dec. 20, 1940, the daughter of the late Cornelius and Willehmina (Leyten) van Hooydonk. She was a member of Holy Angels’ Church. She farmed with her husband. Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas until Saturday morning and then to Holy Angels’ Church where Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment Holy Angels’ cemetery. Visitation Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Remembrances may be made to the Cancer Clinic.

Preston - At the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital on Friday, Sept. 13, 2002. Mrs. Grace (Inch) Preston of St. Thomas, in her 82nd year. Born in Strathroy, Ontario, May 30, 1921. Mrs. Preston formerly operated the Powder Puff Beauty Shop, St. Thomas. She was a member of Trinity Anglican Church. Dear mother of Barry Preston and his wife Lilli of R.R. #6, Aylmer, Brian Preston and his wife Paula of St. Thomas and the late Blaine Preston (1996). Loved grandmother of Nicholas, Amy, Dan, Terri, Leila, Derek and the late Renee (2001). Sister of the late Gordon Inch. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas on Sunday Sept. 29, 2002 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service will be conducted on Monday, Sept. 30th at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Elmdale Memorial Park, St. Thomas. Klooster - Peacefully at her residence on Friday, September 27, 2002. Pearl Klooster of Heritage Place, Aylmer in her 91st year. Beloved wife of the late Sietse Klooster (1987). Loving mother of John Klooster and wife Corrie of Belmont and Jack Klooster and wife Liz of Kitchener. Mother-inlaw of John Steenbergen of Aylmer. She will be sadly missed by 16 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren. Predeceased by her daughters Winnie Steenbergen (2002), Margaret Posthumus (2000) and by son-in-law John Posthumus (1998). Born in The Netherlands on November 6, 1911 daughter of the late Jelle and Wietske (Van der Molen) Kuiper. Pearl was resident of Aylmer for over 40 years and a member of the Aylmer Christian Reformed Church. Friends may call at the H. A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held from the Aylmer Christian Reformed Church on Monday, September 30, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. Interment , Aylmer cemetery. Rev. Richard de Lange, officiating. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of choice would be appreciated.
