Margaret also leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, Bill Cocks of Medicine Hat, and Ed (Debbie) Cocks of Edmonton; one daughter Janet (Peter) Tertzakian of Calgary; four grandchildren; and one brother William P. (Beth) Mogridge of Calgary. DARJES -- Iona Darjes, passed away at the Foothills Hospital on December 3, 1997 at the age of 78 years. Born January 8, 1919 in Elcan, Alberta, Iona was predeceased by her husband Carl on October 25, 1996. She is survived by two daughters, Wilma Ferguson and her husband Glenn of Calgary, and Donna Trottier and her husband Kerry of Seebe; two sons, Gary Darjes and his wife Suzanne Eaton of Calgary, and Ronald Darjes, also of Calgary; and two grandsons, Stephen Trottier and Todd Darjes; as well as numerous other relatives. DILLON -- Sister Kathleen Dillon (Sr. Euphrasia) FCJ died on December 9, 1997 at Sacred Heart Convent, Calgary. Born in Athlacca, Co. Limerick, Ireland, on January 12, 1907, Sr. Kathleen joined the FCJ's in 1923. She came to Canada in August 1930 and spent the rest of her active life in the service of the community and the boarders at Sacred Heart Convent. She endeared herself to all by her cheerful manner and her sense of humour. Sister retired from active duty in 1982 but continued her apostolate of prayer and assisting the older sisters. She celebrated seventy years of religious life in March 1996. Sr. Kathleen is survived by her sister, Sr. Lelia Dillon FCJ, Laurel Hill Convent, Limerick and other family members in Ireland, as well as by her religious community. FAIRBAIRN -- Earl Ritchie Fairbairn passed away quietly on December 9, 1997. He was born February 4, 1896 in Canduff, Northwest Territories, now Saskatchewan. Earl was a member of the Masonic Order for over seventy years and an enthusiastic member of the Al Azhar (Shrine) Temple for over fifty years. He retired from the Mortgage Department of Canada Life in 1961 after thirty-five years. He is survived by his son Dawn and wife Rita; daughter Betty Blockberger; as well as eight grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren. FELSKE -- Mr. William (Bill) Felske of Calgary, passed away at his residence on December 9, 1997, after a lengthy illness. He is mourned by Della, his loving wife for fifty-three years. Bill was born in 1915 in Nokomis, Saskatchewan, and was one of eight brothers and seven sisters. He farmed near Nokomis and Quill Lake, Saskatchewan, before moving to Alberta in 1948, where he made many friends in farming, investment and Real Estate circles. Enjoyment of family gatherings anchored Bill's life, but there was always time for travelling, gardening, spectator sports, crafting his red and white glider rocking horses, and talking with friends at local coffee shops. Besides his loving wife, Bill will be sadly missed by his children, Sandra (Clifford) Rhodes, and Lorry (Aileen) Felske; four grandchildren, Michelle (Todd) Faunt, Cheralyn (Allen) Doell, Johanna and Nicholas Felske; great-grandson Harison Faunt; and three stepgrandchildren, Teresa (Bill) Pearce, Barbara (Dean) Desireau and Bryan Rhodes. He is also survived by his two sisters and brother-in-law, Ida Otto of Ashern, Manitoba, and Eileen and Wally Otto of Calgary. GRANT -- Arthur Patrick, age 92 years, of Claresholm, Alberta, passed away December 10, 1997, beloved father and father-in-law of Joan and George Cisar of Granum, Alberta and Donald and Dianna Grant of Mississauga, Ontario. He is also survived by six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, the late James and Helena Grant, and by his loving wife Ella on August 21, 1997. Born at Wishaw, Scotland he came to Canada in 1910 homesteading with his family at Benton, Alberta. He attended school at Oyen and Calgary. Mr. Grant graduated from Normal School in 1923, then taught at various schools in the Acadia Valley area. He was Principal at Monitor and Cayley prior to moving to Claresholm in 1941 where he was Vice-Principal for three years. He was C/O of the Air Cadets Corp during World War II. In 1944 he became Secretary Treasurer of the Macleod School Division and moved to Granum. He was Secretary Treasurer of the Town of Granum and was instrumental in planning the water and sewage systems in Granum. When the School Division moved their offices to Claresholm in 1966 he returned to live in Claresholm. During his term with the School Division he was involved in school bus financing and salary negotiations for different School Divisions. He retired in 1970 and later served as School Trustee for Claresholm and was President of the Alberta School Trustees for three years. He and his wife enjoyed wintering in Yuma, Arizona for seventeen years. GRANT -- Janet S. (Jennie) Grant passed away peacefully in Calgary on December 8, 1997 at the age of 95 years. She will be sadly missed by her niece Margaret Grant; and her children, Tom (Carmyn), Dan (Renee) and Corey (Cheryl). Janet was predeceased by her parents, her brother Tom, and nephew Dan. She was born in Ayre, Scotland and came to Canada as a young girl. Janet was employed at the Calgary Herald for twenty-five years. She will be lovingly remembered by family and friends. HERRON -- Mr. Garnet James Herron, of Calgary, passed away suddenly at his residence on Tuesday, December 9, 1997, at the age of 61 years. Garnet was born in Calgary on December 9, 1936. He was Operations Manager at Co-op Taxi and was well-known and loved by his co-workers and friends. Garnet's family will miss his quiet, kind, shy presence, his wonderful sense of humor and his humble ways of helping others without wanting recognition for his good deeds. Garnet is survived by his beloved sister Shirley Larsen; a brother and sister-in-law, Jack Herron and Diane Hagel, all of Calgary; his four nieces and three nephews-in-law, Wendy, Shelly and Kent, Kirsten and Dwayne, and Cori and Daryl. He was predeceased by his father Garnet Herron Sr., on August 6, 1993, and by his mother Gwen Deere, on January 12, 1995.
