Born in Grande Prairie, Alberta on August 7, 1925, Margaret is survived by Harvey and their daughters and sons-in-law, Gail and Stan Carscallen, Carol and Rob Chittick, Janet Bliss, and Susan and Bob McKay; as well as nine grandchildren, Brock and Gavin Carscallen; Laura, Ian, Neil and Michael Chittick; Gordon and Alison McKay; and Craig McMullen. She is also survived by her only sister Georgina (Dodie) Sherbaniuk of Edmonton, Alberta. A devoted wife and mother during her fifty-one years of marriage, Margaret was also an involved and caring member of the community, including being a longtime member and past president of the Samaritan Club of Calgary. BLOCK - Mr. Harold S. Block beloved husband of Idene Block of Big Valley, passed away suddenly at the Foothills Hospital on Friday, October 24, at the age of 83 years. Harold was born October 21, 1914 at Mabton, Washington, USA. His family moved to the farming district at Millicent, Alberta in 1920. Harold spent his lifetime doing that which he loved, farming and ranching. His love of agriculture was fulfilled at farms and ranches first at Millicent, then Dalroy, Youngstown and Standard. Harold and Idene retired to Big Valley in 1990. Harold will be missed and remembered by his wife Idene; and his sister Dorothy Lundstad; as well as his loving family, daughter Andrea (Walton) Van Dyke; son Zane Block; daughter Kristine (Gary) Smith; and son Jess (Patricia) Block; seven grandchildren, Dee Dee and Jay Van Dyke, Joann (Lorne) Winther, Guy and Kelly Smith, Todd and Chad Block; and great-granddaughter Shelby Winther. He was predeceased by granddaughter Bonnie Block. BLOOR - It is with great sadness that Judith A.H. Bloor, beloved mother, daughter and friend passed away peacefully at her home in Calgary on September 9, 1997. BODMER - Elsie (nee Park) Bodmer of Bassano passed away peacefully in Bassano, surrounded by her family, on Saturday, October 4, 1997 at the age 83 years. Cherishing her memory are eldest son Hugh and his wife Caroline of Olds and their daughters, Jennifer and Robyn; her second eldest son Rod and his wife Geri of Gibsons, B.C. and their children, Nicole, David, Brittany and Caitlin; her daughter Shelley and her husband Doug Peters of Didsbury and their children, Thomas and Andrea; Elsie's sister Muriel Blair of Edmonton, Elsie's sister Barbara and her husband Trevor Bowen of Trail, B.C.; brother-in-law Laverne and his wife Betty-Ann of Bassano and their families. Schooled at St. Mary's Convent, a year at Normal, and additional training at the Banff School of Fine Arts, The University of Calgary and University of Saskatchewan, her career spanned four decades and hundreds of students. Elsie began teaching in 1935 and had taught in Schuler, Samis School (near Olds), Rosemary where she met and married Grant Bodmer in 1944, Grassy Lake, Banff and finally Bassano, as well as substitute teaching in surrounding areas. She retired form teaching in 1974 to enjoy her art, music, reading, hockey, her home, her grandchildren and some travelling with Grant before his passing in 1987. Elsie was a Charter Member of the International Order of the Daughter of the Nile, past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star, Mary Keohane Chapter, Bassano and provincially had served as Grand Choir Conductress and Grand Soloist. Friends and family are invited to a celebration of her life on Friday, October 10, at 2:30 p.m. from St. Mary's Anglican Church, Bassano, Rev. Dave Prowse officiating. BOLDT - Doris Margaret was called home June 2, 1997. Doris was much loved and will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be remembered as the dearly beloved wife and confidante of forty-nine years to David Boldt; devoted and giving mother and grandmother to son David, his wife Bonnie, and daughter Auralea of Creston, B.C.; son Terry, his wife Karin and daughters, Lynsey and Suzanne; son Laurie, his wife Gail, and their sons, Michael and Andrew; and her daughter Jade, all of Calgary. Dedicated daughter to Margaret Marsden of Lacombe; loving sister and friend of Norma Zaytsoff, also of Lacombe and Alice Barker of Goodnow, B.C. She goes to meet her father Albert Bossingham who died in 1959 and stepfather Edgar "Pop" Marsden who died in 1980. Doris was a good and caring companion to countless other family members and friends, especially those at Northmount Baptist Church where she led quietly. Doris was known as a gentle spirit who loved people, animals, birds and flowers. Her Yorkshire Terrier "Missy" brought her great joy. BOLES - James Foster passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital at the age of 71 years on September 9, 1997. Foster was born to Foster and Jeannette Boles in Three Hills on June 12, 1926. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Artillery to serve his country in 1944. Foster married Ellen Kaatiala in 1951 and they have resided on the family farm until his passing. Farming was the life he loved. He also enjoyed a good visit with everyone and enjoyed traveling. Foster suffered from poor health for many years. Throughout the years he had a very determined spirit and always looked on the positive side of any new problem that he faced. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Ellen; two daughters, Shirley Ann and Darrel Adam of Three Hills; two brothers, Howard (Marjorie) Boles, George (Doreen) Boles, all of Three Hills; two sisters, Margaret (Dick) Walkup of Tacoma, Wash., and Beatrice (Stan) Mellor of Edmonton; and numerous nieces and nephews, and friends. Funeral Services will be held at the Knox United Church in Three Hills on September 12, 1997 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Harold Black officiating. Interment to follow at the Three Hills Cemetery.
