STRUDSHOLM - Mrs. Grethe Strudsholm died peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on October 17, 1997. Although short, Grethe's life was rich in accomplishments and experiences. Her strong, courageous, loving spirit touched many and will live on in the thoughts and memories of those she knew. Her keen mind, active and busy life-style, and never-ending love for music are among the many ways in which she will be remembered. Funeral Services will be held at Danish Lutheran Church (130 - 32 Avenue N.W.) on Thursday, October 23, 1997 at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Jens Nielsen officiating. Following the Funeral Service, all are welcome to share memories at the Danish Canadian Club, 727 - 11 Avenue S.W. 1926 - 2006
Mrs. Jacqueline Louise Lund, beloved wife of the late Bronc Lund, passed away at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Wednesday, June 7, 2006 at the age of 80 years. Jacqueline¹s memory will be cherished in the hearts of her children and grandchildren, Sharleen Douglass and her family Jonathon, Micheal and Matthew; Corrinne (Ian) Zeer and their family Jennifer (Joe) and Jaycee (Liza) - Riley and J.B.; Lorne (Candy) Lund; two sisters, Patricia and Charlene as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jacqueline was predeceased by her husband Bronc and two sisters and a brother. Family spent a quiet time of reflection prior to cremation taking place. Jacqueline will be remembered by her family without the proceedings of a formal funeral service. Arrangements in care of Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, Medicine Hat, Alberta.
Soganic
Soganic, Michael Keith Soganic, beloved husband of Mary Laforest of Rosemary, Alberta, passed away suddenly while fishing on a beautiful lake near Cardston, Alberta on June 7th, 2006 at the age of 56 years. Born on September 9th, 1949, Keith was a proud son of Cumberland, BC. He followed in his father’s footsteps to become a faller in the logging industry. He had drove a Special Needs School bus for Courtenay District 71 for 20 years and lovingly cared for his chosen son Josh who resided with him from the age of 6 years until his death. Keith and Mary were married in Cumberland on April 24th, 2004 and moved to Rosemary in July of 2005. He was currently employed in maintenance at Lakeside, Brooks, Alberta. Keith will be lovingly remembered for his love for his family, for his sense of humour, for his love of high mountain lakes and for being forever in pursuit of fast silver trout. He was predeceased by his father Mike in 1975, his mother Dot in 1977, his chosen son Josh Remington in 2002 and his father-in-law John Stubbs in 2005. Keith is survived by his loving wife Mary, daughters Candice Patterson and Kelly Soganic, grandson Jonathan Patterson, sons Skyler and Noel Laforest, daughter Desiree Laforest, brothers Wayne (Ann-Marie) Soganic and Jim (Glenys) Soganic, sister Gloria (Granville) Airton and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Monday, June 12th from Smith Memorial Chapel, Brooks. Rev. Dean Southern officiated. Honorary Pallbearers were Noel Laforest, Jim Bottcher and Jim Soganic. Pallbearers were Wayne Soganic, Granville Airton, Skyler Laforest, Mike Nuttall, Jim Chamberlain and Troy Drayson. Seitz
Seitz, Carol Elaine Seitz (nee Viglietti), beloved wife of the late Thomas Michael Seitz, of Brooks passed away at the Brooks Hospital on Monday, June 12th, 2006 at the age of 65 years after a long struggle with Huntington Disease. Carol was born in Calgary to Pierina and Victor Viglietti on August 8th, 1940 and remained there until graduation from high school. She received her Nursing Aide Certificate in March 1962 and moved to Brooks upon graduation where she met and married Tom on August 24th, 1963. Carol will be remembered for her active role within the Catholic Women's League, of which she has been a member for 40 years, many years of bingo nights at the nursing home, and her never ending love and devotion to her family and friends. Carol was predeceased by her parents, Pierina and Victor Viglietti, and her devoted husband, Thomas M Seitz (July 2000). She is survived by her loving family, son Brian and his wife Michele and their children, son Adam and daughter Chelsea, all of Brooks; son David of Airdrie; daughter Brenda Smadu, her husband Daren and their sons Dawson and Colbe all of Sherwood Park; brother Norman and his daughter Marla and son Scott of Calgary. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 PM on Thursday, June 15th from St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Rev. Vincent Tuan Ha Celebrant. Interment to follow at Brooks Cemetery. STEVENS, Clarence Martin
On Thursday, December 18, 2003, Clarence Stevens of Mayerthorpe, formerly of High Prairie, passed away peacefully, with his family at his side, at the age of 85 years. Clarence was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis on April 30, 2003. He will always be loved and never forgotten by his children, Melvin (Suzanne) of Spruce Grove, Marvin (Susan) of Alder Flats, Penny Adams of Mayerthorpe, Pat (Don) McDermid of St. Albert, Susan (Rick) Martin of Mayerthorpe and Lloyd (Marilyn) of High Prairie; daughter-in-law, Jean Stevens of Calgary; sister-in-law, Gunhild Stevens of Glendon; seventeen grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren. Clarence was a respected citizen wherever he lived. He was the “Citizen of the Year” in Mayerthorpe in recognition of his community work. Clarence was a Life Member of Branch 37 High Prairie and was a tireless worker in the Branch serving in numerous officer positions as well as Poppy Fund Chair. He had a special passion for farming, spending hours driving “the tractor”. Most importantly though, he was a family man who loved his two generations of grandchildren. He will be missed. Predeceased by his son, Martin (2001); grandson, Shawn (2001); son-in-law, Allan Adams (1997); brother, Max; and sister, Elaine.
Funeral Service Saturday, December 20 at 3:00 p.m. at Mayerthorpe Legion with Reverend Ruth Lotholz, Legion Chaplain, officiating. Cremation will follow in the Park Memorial Crematorium. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date. In lieu of other tributes, donations may be made to the Mayerthorpe Cemetery, the Royal Canadian Legion, Mayerthorpe or High Prairie Branches, or to a charity of one’s choice.
WILLMS, Willms, Penny
With our deepest sorrow we announce the passing of our loving wife, mother and grandmother, Penny Kaye Willms. She passed away peacefully at the age of 52 on January 28, 2004 in Brooks with her family at her side. She fought a courageous battle against cancer. Penny was born on February 1, 1951 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. On October 9, 1971 she married Ed Willms from Scandia where she raised her family and stayed busy helping Ed run their beekeeping business. After retiring and moving to Brooks in 2001, Ed and Penny enjoyed spending time together in both Mazatlan, Mexico and Kaslo, B.C. Penny will be most remembered for the time she devoted to her grandchildren. She also enjoyed piano, the arts, reading and the Spanish language. Her kindheartedness touched many lives. Penny will be deeply missed. The beautiful memories we shared will be always treasured and cherished. We love you Penny, rest in peace. Penny leaves to mourn a wealth of family and friends, all of whom will miss her dearly. Ed was her beloved husband and best friend and will always be remembered to him as his “little sweetheart.” She will also be fondly remembered by her children Brad, Coralie (Jeff), Wendy (John) and eight grandchildren, Elex, Karlyn, Scott, Rebecca, Halee, Tyren, Tytus and Maizy. SANGUIN
SANGUIN - Randy William Sanguin of Red Deer beloved husband of Eileen and father of Aaron and Kyle passed away in Red Deer on January 31, 2004 after a very courageous battle with cancer, he was 46. Born in Weyburn, Sask. in 1957 Randy moved to Estevan, Red Deer, then Brooks in 1973, where he worked for A & B Hot Oil and Twin R Oilfield Construction. Randy then moved back to Red Deer in 1979 and worked for RSC (Central Equipment Rentals), where he became the Canadian Area Manager. He loved his family, camping, fishing and all sports. He was predeceased by his sister Darlene in 1994. Randy is survived by his mother and father Bill and Audrey Sanguin of Brooks. His sister Leanne Jobagy of Penhold, his brother Gerry Sanguin (Jane) of Red Deer and his sister Shannon Endersby (Rick) of Chestermere. Numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins and hundreds of friends. Funeral services will be held at Eventide Funeral Chapel (4820 - 45 St. Red Deer, Alta.) on Thursday Feb. 5th at 1:00 pm.
KROEKER
Margarete Kroeker went to be with the Lord January 26, 2004, at the Good Samaritan Nursing Center, Medicine Hat. She would have been 86 on February 21, 2004. She leaves to cherish her memory one brother Peter and his wife, Helene Kroeker; one sister Anna Theissen; her cousins Hildegard (Herbert) Reimer, Hannelore (Werner) Deihl, other cousins, nieces and nephews, all living in Germany. She will also be sadly missed by her long time co-worker and friend, Agatha Reimer, the Theissen children, Doreen Butgereit, Floreen Meyer, Warren and Janice Senft, Leora Brown and other friends in Canada. She was predeceased by her parents and a brother Gustoff who died of cancer. Margarete came to Canada from Germany in 1946. She lived with Abe and Sarah Thiessen and their family in Strathmore, Alberta for the first couple of years. She continued to consider them her Canadian family and spent time with them off and on till Mr. and Mrs. Thiessen passed away. Margarete was trained as a registered nurse in Germany but, after coming to Canada worked as a nurses aide till her retirement. She worked in several hospitals including Red Deer, Inuvik, and in 1975 she began working at the Brooks Hospital until her retirement in 1994. Her favorite position was in pediatrics. She loved caring for children. Margarete had a close relationship with her Lord. Her deep faith sustained her through the years. She attended the Evangelical Free Church in Brooks, The Southview Church of God and the Christian Missionary Alliance in Medicine Hat. The funeral service was held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Monday, February 9, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Mal Wagner officiating. Interment followed in the Hillside Cemetery. Arrangements are by the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORIUM, 540 South Railway St. SE, Medicine Hat T1A 2V6.
