It is with great sorrow and sadness for the family of Leona (nee Norman) Schmitz who left us during the early hours of October 13, 2003 at the age of 68. Her passing came after the most courageous battle with cancer.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to the entire staff at St. Mary’s Hospital, Dr. Edwin Lei, all the nurses at Home Care Service, and Rev. Brian Hunter, all of Camrose. Sincere thanks to Dr. G. Mouton and the nursing staff at the Redwater Health Care Centre as well as all the nurses from Morinville Home Care.
Leona leaves to mourn her daughter Carol and husband Jay Trenaman of Fort McMurray, son Bruce Schmitz and wife Lorrie of Bon Accord, sister Marlene and husband Jim West of Sauble Beach, Ontario, brother Allen Norman and wife Lois of Calgary, grandchildren Tenille Trenaman and fiancé Colin Hefferan, Jay Schmitz and Natasha Sawchuk, great-grandchildren Kolby Schmitz-Ringdahl, Mackenzie Trenaman and special great-grandchild Allyson Power. Leona also leaves to mourn numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and aunts. To know Leona was to love her as she leaves many memories to all her dear friends.
Leona was predeceased by her husband Scotty, parents Svea and Hjlmar Norman, mother-in-law Jessie Schmitz, sister-in-law Patricia and husband Ted Hutchison, also her dear Aunt and Uncle Ted and Norma Oberg.
Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at Burgar Funeral Home at a later date, which will be announced.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation, The Redwater Health Care Centre Family Palliative Room or to a charity of your choice.

Marg (Cousins) Koester
KOESTER, Marg (Cousins) - Our loving mother, Marg Koester (Cousins), passed away on December 2, 2017 in her home in Fort Saskatchewan at the age of 83 years. Marg was born on the family farm near Meath Park, Saskatchewan on June 9, 1934. She attended Teachers' College in Saskatoon in 1953 where she met Dennis. They were married in 1954 and moved to Edmonton in 1955 where they raised their six children. In 1972 they moved to the farm near Gibbons where they lived for 38 years, before moving to Fort Saskatchewan in 2009. Marg is predeceased by her husband Dennis and her sister Kathleen. Marg will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Terry, Debbie (Robert) and Dawn (Lloyd), her sons Chris (Lorraine), Dan and Kevin, her 13 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, 6 sisters, 2 brothers, and many nieces, nephews and friends. A funeral service will be held at EVERGREEN FUNERAL HOME (16204 Fort Rd. NW, Edmonton) on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. WEEKES (nee Giebelhaus), Edna Martha
April 11, 1925 – October 3, 2014
Edna passed away at the Alpine Summit Senior’s Lodge in Jasper on October 3, 2014 with members of her family at her side.
Edna was a loving wife, sister, aunt and friend to many who enjoyed a meal or visit in her home.
Edna’s occupation was as a Home Economics teacher but she did more than teach cooking. She was well-loved and respected and touched the lives of many students throughout the years at the Jasper Senior High School.
Edna was also a big supporter of the local cultural scene, her church, and an avid golfer with her husband Donald.
Edna is predeceased by her husband, Donald, her parents, her sister Mildred Bell and brother Harold Giebelhaus.
Surviving with many loving memories, are her brothers, Reuben and his wife Elsie, Earl and his wife Penny, and her sisters, Ruth Pederson, Dorothy Corser, and Lorraine Frolich and her husband Matt, plus many dear relatives and friends.
A “Celebration of Edna’s Life” will be held at the Jasper United Church on Saturday, November 8th at 1 PM with Rev. Dawn Hermann officiating.
Cremation has already taken place.

On December 26, 2010 our little angel Mary passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband Vic; daughter, Shelly LaBlanc; son, Des (Michiyo) Sorochan; grandchildren, Cody, Emily, Mary, and Keemo; sisters, Gladys Cooper and Lillian Harris; brother, Jerry (Bev) Lukinuk; sisters-in-law, Linda Lukinuk, Verne Clarridge, Vickie Edwards, Cylvia Powell, Stella Kuz, Mary Roberts, Ruth (Floyd) Johnson, Katie (Rod) Buxton, Jeanette Sorochan, Annie (Henry) Lazarenko, and Shirley (Ralph) Jones, and brother-in-law, Alex Cherney, as well as numerous nephews, nieces, and many good friends. Mary is predeceased by her parents Nora and Jack Lukinuk; daughters, Barbie and Debbie in infancy; brothers, Vern, Bill, and Tom Lukinuk; sisters-in-law, Elsie Lukinuk, Irene Lucas, Marianne Briggs, and Marge Cherney; brothers-in-law, Steve, John, and Nick Cheropita, Bill Cooper, Glad Clarridge, Wilbur Powell, Les Harris, Mike Kuz, Sam Sorochan, and and Phil Huckla. A celebration of Mary's life will be held on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Glenwood Funeral Home, south of Wye Road on Range Road 232 in Sherwood Park, Alberta. A special thank you to the doctors, nurses, staff, and chaplains at Palliative Care, Unit 43 at the Grey Nuns Hospital for their compassion and care of Mary. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the charity of one's choice.
TAYLOR, Lisa Marie
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Lisa Marie on September 25th, 2014 at the age of 35 years.
Lisa Marie is survived by her loving husband Peter and her beloved son Nolan of Edson, Alberta.
Also surviving is her father Manuel Pombeiro of Edmonton, Alberta and her siblings; brothers: Jason (Glenda) Pombeiro and Lance Pombeiro and sister Kimberley (Steven) Andrade all of Edmonton, Alberta.
There are numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and a host of friends left to mourn.
Lisa was predeceased by her mother Gloria Bilhete in 2008 as well as her Grandmother (Vovo) Maria Bilhete.
Funeral Liturgy was celebrated on Tuesday, September 30th, 2014 at 4:30 PM at Holy Redeemer High School (4912 – 12th Ave., Edson, AB) with Father Joselito Cantal Celebrant.
Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of other tributes, donations if desired may be made to “The Run of Hope”, 1432 – 54 Street, Edson, Alberta, T7E 1H4 in memory of Lisa Marie Taylor.
Robert (Bob) Shields, of Oyen
Robert (Bob) Shields passed away on Sunday, February 22nd, 2004. There will be a Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, February 28th, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at the Oyen Legion Hall. Memorial donations can be made to the Gideon Society.
