LERCH -- (nee Hibbard). Melanie Lisa, beloved wife of Alex Matthew Lerch of Calgary, passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Saviour on Saturday, November 15, 1997 after a courageous battle with Hodgkin's disease. She is much loved and cherished and will be sadly missed by her mother and father, Marilyn and Allan Hibbard; and brothers, Bruce and Chris Hibbard; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Judy and Fritz Lerch; and sister-in-law Sherry Lerch. Melanie's caring disposition and cheerful smile will long be remembered by those who knew her. The families would like to thank their extended family and many friends for their wonderful support and prayers during this difficult time. A huge thank you also goes out to the superb doctors, nurses and support staff on NU 57 at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre who have shown such care. God knows what's best in every situation and we are grateful that Melanie's pain and suffering are over and that she has gone to her new eternal home with Jesus. LEWIS -- Vivian Ardith aged 32 years of Claresholm, Alberta passed away November 15, 1997, following her deteriorating health, beloved daughter of Stanley Lewis and the late Leona Lewis of Claresholm; and dear sister of Susan (David) Schwindt of Drayton Valley, AB, Kenneth Lewis of Claresholm, AB, Jeanine Lewis of Drayton Valley, AB; and loving aunt of Stephanie and Evan Schwindt of Drayton Valley, AB. Vivian is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral Services will be held at the Claresholm United Church, 4803 - 2 Street West, Claresholm on Wednesday, November 19, 1997 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Don Lewis officiating. Private Graveside Services will take place at the Claresholm Cemetery on Wednesday morning. MIKOSKI -- Thomas, of Calgary, died unexpectedly in Penticton on Friday, November 14, 1997 at the age of 74. Beloved husband of Marion. Loving father of Kathryn Janice, and constant companion of Misty. Brother of Olga Mikoski and Helen Hietanen, Daniel and Stephen Mikoski, all of Thunder Bay. No Service by request. Cremation. MacDOWELL -- O'Lena Andrea. On November 17, 1997, Mrs. O'Lena MacDowell of Westlock, passed away at the age of 91 years. She was born O'Lena Martinusen on October 1, 1906 in Airdrie, Alberta. She is survived by one son Gary James (Audrey) MacDowell of Willow River, B.C.; one daughter Linda (Romeo) Futoransky of Dapp; four grandchildren, Valerie Kerik of Calgary, Rick (Carey) Mueller of Westlock, Christopher Futoransky of Dapp, and Paula Futoransky of Westlock; one sister-in-law Gladys Martinusen of Cochrane; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Jim MacDowell, one brother Milo Martinesun, three sisters, Frances Manning, Agnes Bowhay and Alice Anderson. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 21, 1997 at 2:00 p.m. in the Trinity Lutheran Church at Westlock, with Pastor Rod McFarlane officiating. McAULEY -- Kathleen (Kae) Mary (nee Boyle) died peacefully at Foothills Hospital on Friday, November 14, 1997 of a stroke. Kae was born on June 16, 1920 in Brandon, Manitoba and resided in Calgary since 1958. Kae's family, friends and church were the focus of her life. As wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother she was a loving, generous pillar of strength for the McAuley family. Here religious faith and her self-less devotion to helping others also played an important role in her life. Kae was a faithful member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church and an active member of the Ladies' Guild. She also enjoyed her activities with the Heritage Seniors and her Tuesday afternoon bowling league. Kae is survived by Bill, her husband of fifty-five years; sons, Murray (Sue) and Rob (Kathi) McAuley; daughters, Pat (Duane) Tritter and Betti-Rae (Larry) Toole; grandchildren, Marcy (Piotr Stazselis), Dana, Cassandra and Michael McAuley, Shea (Nicole) Tritter, Laura and Colin Toole; great-grandsons, Kyler and Brayden Tritter, all of Calgary; sisters, Frances (Adam) Lawson of Brandon, Sadie (Hugh) McAmmond of Edmonton; brother Charlie Boyle of Brandon; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. Kae was predeceased in 1978 by her grandson Jason Paul Tritter. A life lived in kindness, service and unconditional love is the legacy Kae leaves to family and friends. She will be lovingly remembered in our hearts. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. William Fletcher and the wonderful staff at the Foothills Hospital Heart & Stroke Investigation Unit (Unit 112), the Emergency Room, and the EMS technicians for their kind and compassionate care. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 1997 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 703 Heritage Drive S.W., Calgary. Interment will be held at her final resting place in Brandon, Manitoba (date to be determined). McNIVEN -- James H., formerly of Vulcan, passed away peacefully at the Little Bow Auxiliary Hospital, Carmangay, Alberta, November 16, 1997 at the age of 76 years. Beloved husband of Fay of Vulcan; father of one daughter Carol (Don) Wright of Didsbury; five sons, Dan (Bonnie) McNiven of Ballinafad, Ont., Jim Jr. (Cathie) McNiven of Vulcan, Michael (Kathy) McNiven, Peter (Gail) McNiven, both of Cessford, Tom (Joanne) McNiven of Vulcan; fifteen grandchildren, three brothers, two sisters, one sister-in-law, numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Service Wednesday, November 19, 1997 at Central Church of Christ, Vulcan, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Doug Barrie officiating. Interment Vulcan Cemetery. PARSONAGE -- Mr. Kim Leslie Parsonage was born December 14, 1956 and passed away suddenly at the age of 40 years. He leaves to mourn, his loving parents, Gordon and Arlane; one brother Duane (Corrine) of Innisfail; one sister Kathi (Parsonage) and Leonard Jaroszuk of St. Albert; three nephews, Scott and Thomas Jaroszuk of St. Albert, Codi Bozarth of Regina; his dog Beau - his best friend and companion. After graduating from the Innisfail High School, Kim chose the third generation family farm to be his life's work. Kim's special loves in life included farming, playing hockey, his many friends, children and especially animals. His special talents with machinery led him to a new career with Richardson Brothers Contracting. Kim brought a great deal of love and joy with his friendly smile to all who met him and knew him. A life lived in kindness, gentleness and unconditional love is the precious legacy he leaves to family and his many friends. Flowers are gratefully declined but those who wish may make memorial donations in Kim's name to the S.P.C.A., 7690 - 45 Avenue Close, Red Deer, AB T4N 4H3. PEARCE -- Sidney Henry passed away at the Peter Lougheed Centre on November 13, 1997 at the age of 78 years.
Sid was the beloved husband of Meryl; dear father of Gary, Carol, Brian and his wife Edith, and David and his wife Debbie.
He will be sadly missed by his granddaughter Allison Sydney.
Sid served during World War II with the R.C.A.F. and was a longtime employee of Air Canada, retiring in 1974. He will be missed by all who knew him.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at Westbourne Baptist Church, 823 - 64 Avenue N.W., Calgary, on Tuesday, November 18, 1997 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes in Sid's name may be made to the Alberta Lung Association, No. 302, 609 - 14 Street N.W., Calgary, Alberta T2N 2A1.
