We are comforted to know that she went quickly and quietly with a stroke. Barbara was born in Trail, B.C. in 1955 and moved with family to Winnipeg in 1956, Regina in 1968 and on to Calgary in 1972. She graduated from the University of Western Ontario. Barbara had a lot of pain in her life but a great sense of humor, loved horses, cats and dogs. She will be sadly missed by her parents, Ray and Jean of Calgary; her friend Don Bewley; brother Kris and wife Esther and niece Laura of Vancouver; brother Carl of Calgary and his children, Lauren and Jordan who were a delight to her as they were a part of her life from the time they were born and she saw a lot of them. No flowers and no Service by request. Cremation and ashes will be returned to Manitoba for burial.
KELSEY -- Hazel Rose Kelsey passed away at the Peter Lougheed Hospital on October 21, 1997 at the age of 84 years. Hazel is survived by two sisters and one brother, Gladys Wood of Crossfield, Ina Wells and Merle Heywood of Calgary. Hazel is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her loving husband Albert. KUROPAS -- On Wednesday, October 22, 1997, Mr. Walter Kuropas of Calgary passed away in the Foothills Hospital at the age of 70 years. Walter was born in Jaksmayczi, Peremyshyl, Ukraine and immigrated to Canada in 1951 where he first settled in Lethbridge as a farm hand. That same year he met Ann Harbuz whom he married in 1956. Over the years he worked for the CPR and also in food preparation in the Calgary General Hospital before he retired due to health reasons in 1981. He leaves his loving wife of forty-one years, Ann Kuropas; three daughters, Irene Wood and husband Chris of Edmonton, Sandra Wallace and husband Jeff, Kathy Lattimer and husband Brent, son Jerry and wife Miranda, all of Calgary; also two grandchildren, Adam and Laura Wood. Walter also leaves numerous relatives and friends in Canada and the Ukraine. Friends and relatives are invited to Prayers at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church (704 - 6 Street N.E.) this evening, Thursday, October 23 at 7:00 p.m. Divine Liturgy will be at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church on Friday, October 24, 1997 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. LYNCH -- Elizabeth Grace Lynch, went to be with the Lord on October 19, 1997 after a short illness. Grace's incredible strength and love will be sadly missed by daughter Clydine Grenier and son-in-law Al, and her grandchildren, Rosemarie (Neil) Hansen, Neil, Shawn (Deanna) Hicks, Bradd and Brenda Hicks, Scott and Jacques Grenier; great-grandchildren, Christopher, Linden, Tyler and Tayler; and friend Wayne Hicks. Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Grace was predeceased by her husband Clyde. One of her many talents will always remain in her paintings she shared with friends and relatives. A private Family Memorial will be held at Mountain View Memorial Gardens on Friday, October 24 at 3:00 p.m., with Interment to be in Halifax.
MACHON -- Olive Mabel is the loving mother of Jeanette (Gerry) Wright of California and John Machon (Cathy) of Calgary; as well as seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Glenn McIntosh and Gordon McIntosh, both of Edmonton, AB. Olive was predeceased by her husband J.L. Machon and her son George Machon. MACY -- Mary Christina (Duncan). passed away peacefully October 19, 1997 at Columbia View Lodge in Trail B.C. Mary was born on August 16, 1919, in Regina, Saskatchewan. She attended school in Olds, Alberta and Business College in Victoria, B.C. Mary worked as a Secretary, later entering the hotel and motel business, retiring in Golden in 1981. She loved and cared for her family. She was also fond of animals. She enjoyed gardening, especially with flowers, and attracting and feeding a variety of wild birds. Mary was predeceased by her husbands, James Duncan in 1960, Walter Macy in 1994, and brother Alex Black in 1991. Mary will be dearly missed by her daughter Jamie (Kerry) Kimmins; four grandchildren, Stephen (Kerry) Kimmins, Jason (Stephanie) Kimmins, Daryl (Raegan) Kimmins, Sharon Kimmins; two great-grandsons, Matthew Kimmins and Michael Kimmins; a brother Bill Black; and several nieces and nephews. A Funeral Service will be held at Foster's Garden Chapel, 3220 - 4 Street N.W., Calgary at 3:00 p.m., Friday, October 24, 1997. Burial to follow at Queen's Park Cemetery. MURRAY -- Gwen E. (nee Gibson), beloved wife of Mr. Jack Murray of Cochrane, Alberta, passed away at the Foothills Hospital on October 20, 1997. She is the loving mother to Beth (Charles) Fish of Salmon Arm, B.C. Gwen is also survived by her grandchildren, David and Susan Fish; sister Lois (Roy) Anderson of Calgary; brother Douglas (Mary) McPhee of Calgary; as well as many nieces and nephews. McDOWELL -- Marie C. (Ackrill) passed away on October 14, 1997 in her 92nd year. Predeceased by her husband Arthur and six sisters, she is survived by her sons, Keith (Anna) and Kevin (Kay); grandchildren, Geoffrey of Toronto, Richard, Roger (Carol), Lorraine (Jim) and Michael (Kaycee); and great-grandson Christopher, all of Calgary. Cremation has taken place.
NARUM -- Margaret, beloved wife of Mr. Justin Narum of Calgary, passed away peacefully at the Foothills Hospital on October 21, 1997 at the age of 80 years. Margaret is survived by her sister Elizabeth Judson of Black Diamond, AB; and her sister-in-law Bernice Koenig of Calgary, AB. She is predeceased by her two brothers and four sisters. Margaret will be fondly and lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends.
