- Shop now for incredible insights into your wellbeing -HILL - Dr. George Raworth, husband of the late Catherine Hill, passed away peacefully after a brief illness, at the Rockyview Hospital on Saturday, October 28, 2000, at the age of 71 years. He will be mourned by his daughter Jocelyn Hill; son-in-law John Deakin; and his two grandchildren, Emma and Isobel Deakin of Calgary; as well as his son Richard of Lillooet, B.C. He will also be missed by his friend Anne Swan. George was a family physician and surgeon who touched the lives of many with his kind and patient ways. He studied medicine at Guy's Hospital in London, England and emigrated to Canada in his thirties, choosing Calgary as a home for his family. JONES - Arthur Bertram Jones of Calgary, and formerly of Claresholm, passed away at the Colonel Belcher Hospital on Sunday, October 29, 2000 at the age of 82 years. Arthur was born in Calgary where he lived the majority of his life and served with the Royal Canadian Navy during World War II. In earlier years Art and his wife Alma enjoyed travelling and spent several winters in Arizona. He is survived by two nephews, Ken (Angie) Jones of London, England, Garfield (Roxeen) Jones of Calgary and niece Gail (Wayne) McMartin of Airdrie, Alberta. He was predeceased by his wife Alma in 1993. KEWLEY - Helen Blackie Kewley (nee Kay) passed away peacefully at the Peter Lougheed Centre at 12:30 a.m. October 30, 2000 at the age of 73. Helen was born in Edinburgh, Scotland June 14, 1927. In 1952 she married George Henry Kewley and raised five children, Ruth Blazenko (Lionel), George Kewley (Angela), all of Calgary, Christine Kewley (Barry) of Cold Lake, David Kewley of Calgary, and Ian Kewley (Kathleen) of Victoria, BC. In 1967, the family immigrated from England to Calgary with the five children in tow. Their children prospered under the compassion and kindness of Helen and Henry. They have since been blessed with seven grandchildren, Shelley Wutske (Harry), Cameron Kewley (Katie), Cassandra Moss (Rob), Tara Rice (Tom), Tiffany Cammidge, James Blazenko, Milagros Kewley and Regina Kewley. They have further been blessed with two great-grandchildren, Nicholas Rice and Kennedy Rice. Helen is also survived by her brother Kenneth Kay (Evelyn), of Edinburgh, Scotland. Helen never had an unkind word to say about anyone and has left us a legacy we are proud of. She will be deeply missed by everyone who witnessed her kindness, especially her grandchildren. Helen was predeceased by her husband George Henry Kewley on April 28, 1994. A special thank you is extended to the wonderful staff of Unit 54 at the Peter Lougheed Centre for their gentle, loving care of our mother and grandmother. LUDWIG - Mr. George Victor Ludwig of Lacombe, passed away at the Lacombe Hospital and Care Centre on October 29, 2000 at the age of 74 years. George was born in Broadview, Sask., the youngest of seven children. He was united in marriage to Eva Van Eaton November 30, 1949. George was a pioneer of the highway building industry in Alberta with his companies, George Ludwig Ltd. and Altex Construction, lifetime member of the Alberta Road Builders Association. After retiring from road construction, George and Eva settled on Gelstar Ranch near Clive, AB, where they raised Blonde d'Aquitaine cattle and Appaloosa horses. They moved to the town of Lacombe in 1995 where George resided until his death. He is survived by four daughters, Edith (Wayne) Smith of Lacombe, AB, Bonnie (Jerome) Wildeman of Clive, AB, Donna Ludwig of Calgary, AB, Elizabeth Ludwig of Calgary, AB; and seven grandchildren, Trevor, Tracie, Russell, Rhonda, Robyn, Amanda and Bob. He is also survived by two sisters, Elizabeth Koch of Regina, Sask., and Helene Vogl of Toronto, ON; stepsister Lois Point of Vancouver; one brother Albert Ludwig of Victoria, B.C. He will be missed by his special friend Toupie Goodacre and his housekeeper of six years, Cecilia Malittay. He was a loyal father and took good care of his family. George was a great fisherman and especially enjoyed salmon fishing on the west coast. His interests in later years included the Reynolds Museum, property development in Lacombe, and travel. He was predeceased by his wife Eva in 1996, brothers, Edward and Herman, sister Edith and granddaughter Alana. McIVOR - Helen Rita McIvor, beloved wife of Sam McIvor of Calgary, passed away at the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital in Halifax, Nova Scotia on Saturday, October 21, 2000 with her loving family at her side. McMULLEN - After a long, full life, Sydney G. McMullen passed away on October 28, 2000 at the age of 85 years. Sydney was a quiet, dignified and generous man, who loved and was so proud of his family. He was honored to serve his country with the Canadian Army during World War II. He managed the Midland Coal Mining Company in Drumheller, AB and then became associated with Amalgamated Coals Ltd. In 1973 he donated fifteen hundred acres of Midland Mine Land to the province of Alberta for a provincial park. One of his proudest moments was the building of the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Paleontology on this land. He is survived by his loving children, Lois (Gordon) and Bill, and by his beloved grandsons, Todd, Rob and Craig. He was predeceased by his wife Anne in 1993. The family wishes to thank Dr. Adamiak, Units 71 and 61 at the Rockyview Hospital and the Agape Manor Staff.
