GIBSON, Laird Derek
On January 10, 2000, Laird Derek Gibson of Edmonton passed away at the age of 44 years after a courageous battle with cancer. Laird is survived by his loving wife, Pauline; son, Abram; his mother, Kathleen; brother, Allan (Calgary); sister, Karen Sucie (Edmonton); sister, Sharleen Thornberry (Alabama); as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Norman in November, 1996. A Memorial Service and Celebration of his Life will be held Wednesday, January 12 at 7:00 p.m. at Northgate Baptist Church, 13208 - 95 Street with Reverend Sieg Koslowski officiating. Following the service, refreshments will be served in the fellowhip hall. Cremation in the Park Memorial Crematorium. HANAS, Walter
May 3, 1921 - January 9, 2000
On January 9, 2000 Walter Hanas of Fisher Home, Alberta passed away at the age of 78 years. Walter will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Marie of Fisher Home; four children, Bill (Karen) of Leduc, David (Jane) of Thorsby, Dale (Candace) of Leduc and Cindy (Don) Iverson of Spruce Grove. Grandpa will be fondly remembered by his five grandchildren, Tim, Gregory, Brett, Jarad and Jenna. Walter is also survived by one sister, Sophie Sych and four brothers, Alex, Joe, Safronie, Morris and their families, as well as many other relatives, friends and neighbors. Please rest in peace and love. Prayers will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2000 at 7:30 p.m. at Ukrainian Catholic Church Of St. John The Baptist, Thorsby. Divine Liturgy will be held on Friday, January 14, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. at Ukrainian Catholic Church Of St. John The Baptist, Thorsby with Basilian Fathers, OSBM as Celebrants. Ethel Haslett of Edmonton passed away peacefully on January 9, 2000 at the age of 93 years. She is survived by three daughters, Grace (Merle) of Washington, Marjorie (Boris) and Frances (Norm), both of Edmonton; ten grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Leona of Calgary. Ethel was predeceased by her husband, Robert (Bert); son, Bobby; one grandchild, Lynn; one great-grandchild, Kassie and four brothers, Dick, Joe, Wes and John. HEILAND, Douglas Peter Sebastian
passed away January 8, 2000 in Folsom, California at age 46. A native of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, he was born March 19, 1953. He was a graduate of the University of Alberta, Canada receiving honors in Physics. He was greatly admired by his friends and held in high esteem by his colleagues. His work provided immeasurable technological advances worldwide. He was a hard working perfectionist, a kind and reliable man who was environmentally conscientious. He has been a resident of Folsom for the past nine years. He was a dedicated husband to Joanna Heiland, a vigilant father to Joshua, Jerrod, Jessieca and J.J. Mercuris and the cherished grandfather of Jaydin Mercuris. The beloved son of Peter and Rachel Heiland and dear brother of Geoff, Tom Heiland and Shirley Fortin. Friends may visit Wednesday, January 12, 2000 after 1:00 p.m. and attend Funeral Services, 2:00 p.m. at Green Valley Mortuary, Corner of Bass Lake and Green Valley Road, Cameron, Park, California. On Sunday, November 12, 2000 Georgina Caron of Wainwright, Alberta went peacefully in her home of 60 years at the age of 78 years. Jean is survived by her loving family; her husband, Arthur; son, Robert Caron; daughter, Jeanette Lee; six grandchildren, Kelly Houston of Calgary, Cory Houston of Ottawa, Ontario, Shannon Houston of Spruce Grove, Sherri Houston of Lethbridge, Kevin Lee of St. Paul, Bryan Lee of Edmonton; their families including six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Shauna Lee in 1979 and daughter, Bette Houston in 1997. Respecting Jean's last wishes, no service was held and cremation has taken place. If so desired, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Creech's Funeral Home, Todd and Harry Creech directors in care of all arrangements.
