Pamela Myfanway Cooper
Pamela Myfanway Cooper, of High River, passed away at the High River Hospital on September 27, 2000 at the age of 81 years. Pamela is survived by her loving daughters Wendy Ann (Larry) Hanson, Okotoks and Susan (Stuart) Shackleton, Burnaby, B.C., her grandchildren: Anthony (Tammy) Bonderenko, Dallas Bonderenko, Blaine and Carolyn Bauer and her great grandchildren Dusty, Jessica and Serena. She is also survived by her brother Dr. Roger (Dr. Marion) Rogers, Vancouver.
Funeral services were held at Snodgrass Funeral Chapel, High River on Monday, October 2 at 11 am. Lieut. Terry Cook of the High River Salvation Army Corps officiating. Cremation followed the service. John James Alcock
John passed away in Edmonton on January 20, 2000 at the age of 56 years. He is predeceased by his grandparents, James and Ferris Alcock, his mother Amo and father Lyall Alcock in 1992. He will be sadly missed by his wife Lois and Mary Main Alcock of Okotoks.
John attended school in Okotoks and spent most of his life at the horse racing ovals at Stampede Park, Calgary and Northlands, Edmonton.
A memorial service will be held in Edmonton on Friday, January 28 at the Chapel of Chimes, 10179 - 108 Street at 1 pm.

Kenneth Samuel Gaunce
Kenneth Gaunce, beloved husband of Mary 'Addie' Gaunce of High River, formerly Okotoks, passed away at the High River Hospital and Nursing Home on January 21, 2000 at the age of 97 years.
Besides his loving wife, Ken is survived by his stepdaughter, Edna and John Rothenberger, Winnipeg; his stepsons, Jack Miller, Marker-ville, Alta., Jim and Marge Miller, Calgary and Bob and Pauline Miller, Okotoks; and his 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Olive Sharp and his brothers, Gordon, Herb, Borden and Don. He was predeceased by his sister Helen and his brothers Walter, Lloyd, Francis and Rocky.
Born at Millstream, King's County, New Brunswick on March 17, 1902, Ken came to Calgary in 1924 after farming in Saskatchewan for a few years. He worked on farms in the Youngstown and Craigmyle districts and for Pat Burns in Calgary. He was working for Bert Rowland when WW II broke out and Ken served overseas with the Canadian Army for four years, returning to the Rowland farm after his discharge from the army. He also worked for George Riches at Okotoks for awhile before moving to Calgary where he was employed at Currie Barracks. He retired after 16 years service with the Dominion Government.
Services will be held at Snodgrass Funeral Chapel, Okotoks on Wednesday, January 26 at 1:30 pm. Interment of Ken's cremains will take place at Okotoks Union Cemetery at a later time. Randolph Albert Silvester
Randolph Albert Silvester, of Millarville, passed away near High River on Jan. 26, 2000 at the age of 38 years.
Randy is survived by his sister Cora (Jason) McIvor, Black Diamond and their family Gary and Haley McIvor; and his brothers, Thomas Silvester, Cochrane and Richard (Lauren) Silvester, Lacadena, Sask. and their family, Christopher and Kelsey. He was predeceased by his mother Marjorie Silvester in 1977, his father Ernest Silvester in 1986 and his brother Gary Silvester in 1987.
Funeral services were held at Snodgrass Funeral Home, High River on Saturday, Jan. 29 at 1:30 pm. The Rev. Paul Rumbolt officiated. Cremation followed the service. Ralph Schock
Ralph Schock of Black Diamond passed away at the Oilfields Hospital on Jan. 25, 2000 at the age of 86 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Sophie; his daughter Rose (Bill) Hobbs; his son Bill Schock, all of Black Diamond; his stepsons Charles Wegener, Calgary, David Wegener and Richard Wegener of Black Diamond; his step-daughter Linda Wegener, Priddis; and by his grandchildren Rob Wegener and Tanya (Jeff) Caton. Ralph is also survived by his sister Lydia Harder, Salmon Arm, BC and numerous other relatives.
Ralph was born at Leader, Saskatchewan on Oct. 25, 1913. He came to Alberta by bus and always liked to tell the story about how the first person he met in Calgary was Wilf Carter. When he first came to Black Diamond, Ralph was employed on numerous area farms. In 1947, he worked on the Wegener Dairy Farm. Later, he worked for the Town of Black Diamond, where he spent 16 years as a maintenance man. Ralph often spoke of how the town children called him 'Mr. Garbage Man.' He retired from the town in 1976 and lived there for the rest of his years with his family and wife, Sophie.
A funeral service was held at the Gospel Chapel, Black Diamond on Saturday, Jan. 29 at 1:30 pm with Pastor Russell Worrad officiating. An interment service followed at Foothills Cemetery. May Rowland
Mrs. May Rowland, a long-time resident of the Aldersyde area, passed away at the Vulcan Extendicare on Jan. 25, 2000 at the age of 91 years.
May will be remembered by her two sons, Brian (Audrey) and Wayne (Debbie), all of Okotoks; grandchildren, Melanie (Darren) Bailey of Calgary, Todd (Serena) Rowland of Okotoks, Curtis and Kyle Rowland of Okotoks; as well as friend and sister-in-law Priscilla Rowland of Calgary. May was predeceased by her daughter Elva in 1990 and husband Alvin in 1995.
May was born on the Rowland farm on Sept. 2, 1908. She attended Calgary Normal School, after which she taught in two rural schools south of Chinook. In 1935 she married her childhood friend Alvin at which time she continued teaching in Windy Hill, Gladys Ridge and later in Okotoks. In 1970, May retired to enjoy time on the farm with friends and family. She also continued to enjoy the many clubs and organizations she was a member of. Funeral services were held at Snodgrass Funeral Chapel, 200 Woodgate Rd., Okotoks, on Friday, Jan. 28, 2000 at 2:30 pm. Ms. Marilyn Evans of Okotoks United Church officiated. Jeannie Eleanor Oborne
Mrs. Jeannie Eleanor Oborne of Naphtha, passed away at the Rising Sun Extended Care in Black Diamond on Jan. 22, 2000 at the age of 94 years. Jean's time with us will be cherished by her two daughters, Peggy (Allan) Gillis of Naphtha and Sharon (Graham) Norman of Sherwood Park; grandchildren, Tim Gillis (Nadia Farhat), Heather Gillis, Sheila (Llano) Gorman, Adren Gillis (Troy Nering), David Norman, Janet Norman, Denise (Grant) Smith and Dale Norman; great-grandchildren, Simeon, Mirian and Chelsea Gorman, Kenzie Gillis, Tom and Rob Norman, and Eric and Christopher Smith. Jean will also be remembered by her brother, Arthur (Betty) Davis of Springbank. She was predeceased by her husband Ralph Oborne in 1986, her infant son Steven in 1944, and sister Lillian and brother Bill.
Jean was a teacher in the Calgary rural district in the late 1920s and early 1930s, Glenmead being the last school she taught where she met and married Ralph. They then set up their home in Naphtha. Jean was very active in St. Andrew's Anglican Church in Hartell for many years, until the church was disbanded.
Funeral services were held at Snodgrass Funeral Chapel, Okotoks, on Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000 at 2 pm. The Rev. Robert Griffin officiated. Jean was laid to rest beside her husband Ralph at the Okotoks Union Cemetery. Angela Christine Landrie
Angela Christine Landrie passed away on Jan. 26, 2000 at the age of 31 years.
Angela is survived by her husband Scott Janes of Calgary; her children Zachary and Alaina; grandparents Merium Belway of Sudbury, Ont. and Wendy Howden of Calgary. She is also survived by her siblings Darlene (Tony) Dawe of Whitecourt, Mike (Vanessa) Landrie of Saskatoon and Tammi Landrie of Calgary; sister-in-law Tara Punwaney of California, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her uncle Mike Mosher.
Angela was born in Saskatoon on Sept. 16, 1968 and moved to Calgary in 1983. She was a caring and devoted mother and loving wife and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Angela will be fondly remembered for her passion for singing and her beautiful smile.

Katherine Carr
Mrs. Katherine 'Kay' Carr, of Okotoks, passed away peacefully at the High River Hospital and Nursing Home on February 23, 2001 at the age of 92 years. Kay is survived by her loving husband Doug. Her children, Sylvia Davis of Calgary and her children Jeff (Mary), Brad (Brenda) and their children Justin, Cain and Kyler; Marilyn (Bolivar) De Pena of Corpus Christi, Texas and their children Darcy and his son Dylan, Darren and Duanette; Robert (Marlene) Carr of Okotoks and their children Kevin, Cody (Kari) and Shawna Carr; Beverley Magnuson of Sylvan Lake and her children Trevor, Tyler and Shannon (Kirk) Russell and soon to be new arrival. Kay is also survived by her two brothers Bob (Hilda) Flowers and Eric (Edie) Flowers and sister-in-law Audrey Flowers all of Barkby, England. She was predeceased by her two brothers Tom and Bert. Kay was a survivor of the sinking of the Anthena Ship by a torpedo in the beginning of World War II, as well as a survivor of brain surgery in 1965. She loved her flower gardens and raising her chickens.

Lester Russell Oscar Scanlon
Lester Russell Oscar Scanlon, beloved husband of Charmayne (Wright) Scanlon passed away February 20, 2001 at the Foothills Hospital at the age of 57, with family. Besides his wife of 36 years, he is survived by his children, Karla and her son Jonathan, Tanya, Niall (Crystal) and Brennan (Kourtney) and their son Kace.
He also leaves to mourn one brother Clinton (Karen) Scanlon of Nelson, B.C.; in-laws Margaret and Bud Thompson of Spokane, WA and Bryant and Karen Wright of Rexburg, ID; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
He was predeceased by his mother and father Helen and Oscar Scanlon and infant sister.
Lester was born March 11, 1943 in Nipawin, SK and moved with his family to Cardston when he was about 12 where he attended school and made lots of lifelong friends. He graduated from SAIT in 1974 as a Journeyman Chef and continued to cook for the remainder of his life. Lester and Charmayne moved to Okotoks in 1976 and resided there for 17 years. They owned and operated the Lazy L Pizza and Steak House before selling it to move south to Mountain View, where he has resided for the last eight years. In Okotoks, he sponsored many hockey and baseball teams, was president of the Okotoks Oilers Hockey Club and president of the Okotoks and District Chamber of Commerce. Most recently he operated the Rocky Ridge Country Resort and Mountain View Inn in Mountain View. He was a member of the Cardston Rotary Club.
For the last nine years he has been a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving as home teacher, High Priests quorum secretary and temple worker.
Friends could meet the family at Salmon Funeral Home, Cardston on Friday, February 23 from 7 pm to 8 pm or at the church from 11:30 am to 12:45 pm prior to the Service. The funeral service was held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mountain View on Saturday, February 24, 2001 at 1pm with Bishop Wayne Jensen officiating. Interment in the Mountain View Cemetery.
