FRAN BATES
Frances Margaret Bates, nee Marlowe, born January 18, 1946, passed away peacefully in Black Diamond on January 5, 2004 surrounded by her family.
To celebrate her life, she leaves her husband, Tony Haselden. Five children, Sandy, Laurie, Kathy (Mike), Sean (Mona), and Jason, and eleven grandchildren.
A Celebration of Fran’s Life was held at Snodgrass Funeral Chapel, 200 Woodgate Rd. Okotoks, on Friday, January 9, 2004 at 1 pm.

JOSEPH PIERRE PHILIP FINK
1934 – 2004
Phil Fink, of Turner Valley, passed away peacefully after a long and courageous battle with ALS, which he endured with great dignity on January 15, 2004, surrounded by his loving family at the Oilfields Hospital in Black Diamond, at the age of 69 years.
Phil was born on December 9, 1934 in Mattawa, Ontario.
Over the years, he worked in mining, pulp and paper, and gas and oil industries.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed with Pembina Pipeline.
All his life, he had a great love of all sports and participated in many of them.
His greatest love was golf.
Up until his illness, Phil was an avid golfer and active member of the Turner Valley Golf and Country Club.
Phil is lovingly remembered by his wife Helen and devoted son Joe (Alicia Phalen), his mother, Cécile Fink of North Bay, Ontario, sisters, Claire (Ronnie) Bernier of Chilliwack, B.C., Julie (Charlie) Kelly of Port Elgin, Ontario, Jacquie (Allan) Devolin of North Bay, Ontario, and one brother, George (Lise) Fink of Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec; sister-in-law, Jeanine Fink of Virginiatown, Ontario, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Phil was predeceased by his son, Jimmy in 1989, his father René in 1969, sisters Marguerite Fink in 1947, Jeanne Kelly in 1997, and his brother, Peter in 2003.
Prayer services will be held on Tuesday, January 20th at 7:00 p.m. at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church in Black Diamond.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 21st at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church in Black Diamond.

Ronald James Halliday
Ronald James Halliday of Okotoks passed away unexpectedly at the Foothills Hospital on September 2, 2003 at the age of 48 years.
Ron was predeceased by his parents, Arthur Patrick Anthony Halliday (Dad) on October 4, 1994, and Olivia Jean Halliday (Mom) on January 31, 1995.
He will be dearly missed by his beloved wife of 12 years, Beike and his sister, Maureen (Henry) Bruch of Black Diamond and their children, Trisha and Anthony; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins and friends.
A time of visitation was held at Snodgrass Funeral Home, Okotoks, on Friday, September 5, 2003.
The funeral was held on Saturday, September 6, 2003, the Rev. Susan Wilkinson-Matticks officiated.

D.W. (Chub) Foster
Dennis William (Chub) Foster, of Castor, formerly of Millarville, passed away on Sept. 17, 2003 at the age of 84 years.
Chub was born at Empress, Alberta, on April 28, 1919.
Chub is survived by his son, Ken (Judy), Millarville and their children: Shannon (James) Johnson, great-grandsons Tyrell and Kevin, Drayton Valley, Tami (Chris) Ullmann, Rimbey and Clayton (Michelle) of Millarville, daughter-in-law, Nona Foster, Stavely and her children, Lenore of Czar and Brandi, of Sylvan Lake, his daughter, Wendy (Darrel) Ashbacher of Halkirk and their children, Zane (Leana) and Kelly, Millarville and Clint, Echo and Erin of Halkirk.
Chub is also survived by his brother, Roy (Ethel) Foster, Wetaskiwin, as well as his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Nita, on June 24, 2002, and by his son, Keith Foster on Sept. 24, 2001.
A celebration of Chub’s life was held at the Millarville Race Track Hall on Monday, Sept. 22 at 1 pm.

Henry King
Henry (Hank) King of Black Diamond passed away at the Oilfields General Hospital on September 13, 2003 at the age of 77 years.
Hank was predeceased by his parents; Ernest and Katherine of Birds Hill, Manitoba.
He will be dearly missed by his beloved wife, Linda of 40 years of Black Diamond; children, Audra (Rick), Tom (Terry), and Shannon (Ernie); Grandchildren, Matthew, Tanya, Jessica, Gregory and Catlin; sister, Margaret Punton (Walter); nieces, Ellen and Rev. Lois Punton; and nephew, Rob Punton.
A Time of Remembering was held at the Lewis Memorial United Church, Turner Valley, on Thursday, September 18, 2003 with Rev. Shelley Lavenne officiating.

Charles Kenneth LAWSON
1934 – 2003
He teased those he loved, and those he didn’t got sarcastic letters. Kenneth Lawson (known to all as Ken) of Okotoks, passed away in his sleep on September 17, 2003 at the age of 69 years.
Ken was born on a farm west of Claresholm on Jan. 14, 1934.
Living in Alberta, his whole life, Ken’s family moved from Claresholm, to Balzac, and in 1948, they settled in Okotoks.
Ken met his wife in high school, and the two were married in 1956.
In 1976, they purchased a farm southwest of Okotoks, where Ken lived out the rest of his life.
Ken was a hard working man with good character, and he never missed an opportunity to voice his opinion (especially political).
Ken owned and operated Kenjo Construction for 34 years, and prided himself with meticulous workmanship.
Ken is survived by his family; wife Joan (Brown); son Patrick; daughter, Pam (Kraig) McIver and five grandchildren, Jesse Lawson, Nikayla, Saige, Maddison and Tobias McIver.
Ken is also survived by a brother, Donald (Barbara); two aunts and numerous cousins.
Ken was predeceased by his parents, Bruce and Marie Lawson.
By request, there will be no funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
All those who were teased or otherwise loved by Ken, were invited to share stories and pay their respects at the Masonic Hall, (Elma St., Okotoks) on Saturday, September 20 from 1pm to 4 pm.
Glen Lloyd Ross
Glen Lloyd Ross, beloved son of Don and Marlene Ross of Strathmore, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, September 16, 2003 at the age of 42 years.
Besides his parents, Glen will be sadly missed by his brother, Scott (Agatha) Ross of Calgary; sisters, Terry (David) James of Swift Current, Sask. and Susan (Brad) Loeppky of Cochrane; and 10 nieces and nephews.
Committed to his work, he spent the last 10 years at Okotoks Ford Lincoln, and was assistant manager at the time of his passing.
He loved his family and friends, but most of all he loved being an uncle.
He will be missed by many.
A visitation took place at Pierson’s Forest Lawn Chapel, 4121 - 17 Avenue S.E., Calgary, on Friday, September 19, 2003.
Funeral services took place at Pierson’s Forest Lawn Chapel, on Saturday, September 20, 2003.
Glen was laid to rest in Mountain View Memorial Gardens.

GEOFFREY BRAY
1924 - 2003
Mr. Geoffrey Bray of Okotoks, went to be with the Lord on December 20, 2003, at the age of 79 years.
Geoff will be dearly missed by his wife of 54 years, Anne Mary.
Children, David Bray, Christopher Bray and Dawn Falk.
Grandchildren, Shawna, Sarah, Ryan, Jordan, Connor, Delaney, Quinton, Becky and Josh.
Great-grandchildren, Kyle, Charlotte and Brayson.
Geoff is also survived by numerous family in Ontario and England.
A celebration of Geoff’s Life was held at Grace Lutheran Church, 114 Waldron Ave., Okotoks, on Monday, December 29, 2003 at 1:00 p.m., Pastor Jonathan Overland officiating.
Interment took place at Okotoks Union Cemetery.
