ROBERTSON -- Elaine Viola
Elaine Viola Robertson (nee Bowes) was born October 24, 1949 as the first child of Ron and Viola Bowes in St. John, New Brunswick. She is survived by her husband Don and two children, John (Angele) and Laura (Chris); her mother Viola; sisters Shirley (Bill), Linda (Jerry); and brother Ron (Merna); her grandchildren, Katherine, Sarah, Steven, David and Sean; also many other brothers and sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces. Elaine was predeceased by her father Ron (1956) and her nephew Darryl (2000). Elaine graduated from St. James Collegiate (Winnipeg) in May 1967. She immediately found good employment with Great West Life Insurance, all along dating a young fellow by the name of Don Robertson. Well, the two were soon wed at the Knox United Church in Winnipeg on March 29, 1969. Elaine was warmly welcomed into the homes and hearts of the Robertson family. Her two children John and Laura were born in quick succession. Don and Elaine then moved to Drumheller, Alberta in September 1974. They immediately loved the community, their new found friends, and settled in to make this their home. Don worked at the Drumheller Institution in the purchasing department, and Elaine was a “Dedicated” Stay-At-Home-Mom. She took much pride in her children and home, and dedicated herself to that purpose. Along the way she gathered many, many dear friends and acquaintances, and she never forgot them, especially at Christmas time through her many cards and letters. Elaine was diagnosed with cancer in December 1999. This was the beginning of a very long, and to say the least, arduous journey. Elaine met this with the same positive resolve as she lived her life with courage, dignity and belief. Elaine passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on December 14, 2007 with family by her side. Elaine touched many people’s lives and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
“To My Children”
My Life On Earth Is Truly Past
I’ve Loved You Both To The Very Last
Weep Not For Me But Courage Take
And Love One Another For My Sake.

ROSELYNN FANO ROBBS (NEE PATTERSON) February 18th, 1933 – December 11th, 2007
It is with deep sadness that our family announces the passing of Roselynn Fano Robbs our mother, grandmother, sister and friend on Tuesday December 11th, 2007at the age of 74 years old.Mom was born on February 18th, 1933 in Redland Alberta. On August 15th, 1953 she married Albert Fano of Hanna, Alberta (predeceased her in July 1980) where she remained and raised her three children; Linda Hill of Calgary, Don Fano of Hanna and Marilyn (Eric) Gross of Hanna. Mom was always a friendly outgoing person and will be remembered for her bright smile and sense of style. Although an outgoing person, Mom was also a rather private person and enjoyed baking, puttering around her home and yard and doing the odd home repair.Mom lived with Lorne Robbs (predeceased her in August 2002) for many years to which Lorne became a stepfather and grandfather figure to her three children and grandchildren. She also raised four little white poodles that were very dear to her heart and she loved them all like children. Freeway, Sheba, Bo and B.J., which have all predeceased her. Mom was always a hard worker and most certainly a doer and not a sitter. She always gave it her best and with pride; whether it was working around the home or the years working as a waitress locally.
In addition to her three children Rose is survived by five grandchildren; Lorne “Chase” Hill of Calgary, Marissa Fano of Hanna, Paige Osborne of Taber, Jason and Darrin Gross both of Hanna; four great grandchildren; Bryann, Britney, Carter Gross and Darius Dool all of Hanna; four brothers Joe (Betty) and George (Fay) Patterson of Strathmore, Jim (Marg), Frank (Irene) Patterson of Rosebud, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a very heartfelt, sincere and humble appreciation to Dr. Walters, Ken Hansen and the staff of the Hanna Hospital; to the staff of the Brain Tumor Unit 111 and 112 of the Calgary Foothills Hospital, Neurosurgeon Dr. Elizabeth McCrae of the Foothills Hospital. Also we thank all those who came to visit Mom, near and far, during her long stay in the hospital, the kind gestures, prayers and conversations, the assistance to the family and just their overall kindness. That was all so greatly appreciated and shall always remain in our hearts.
A private graveside memorial was held on Friday December 14th. Flowers are very gratefully declined and those that wish may make a donation to the Hanna Hospital in Mom’s memory, or to a charity of their choice.
Mom was always a very healthy vibrant woman that took pride in caring for her health. Her sudden illness has left us breathless and her passing has left us with a great void. She will forever remain in our hearts and memory and will be so very, very deeply missed.
We thank all of you that have been a part of mom’s life…large or small.
