JORGENSEN -- Reid November 16, 1937 - October 15, 2008
Reid Jorgensen, born November 16, 1937 in Drumheller, passed away on October 15, 2008 at Strathmore after a brief battle with cancer, which he fought with great dignity and grace. He is survived by his wife Joy, daughters Carmen (Garry) Schneider, their children Barrett, Carissa, and Brandon; Carrie (Trevor) Georgsen, their children Riley, Tanner, and Parker; sister Gail (Arthur) Christensen; Joy’s sons Don (Linda) Lauweryssen, their children Elaine and Brant; Glen (Carole) Lauweryssen, their children Ben, Jayne and Anna; and Lorne Lauweryssen and his daughter Kirstyn. He will also be fondly remembered by his extended family, friends, and neighbours. Reid was predeceased by his first wife Sheila in 2000, his son Kevin in 1985, and his parents Jens in 1989 and Annette in 1998. Reid was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was a very kind, loving, and gentle man who always had a smile. He loved to visit and always had time for everyone. Reid farmed in the Dalum area for over forty years. He took great pride in his family and farming. He was very meticulous and that showed up in every aspect of his life. Throughout his life, Reid enjoyed holidays with his family, whether it be camping or travelling abroad, as well as many special occasions with friends. He also had a passion for his Chrysler/Dodge vehicles, which made cause for many colourful discussions. The last seven years, he enjoyed retirement in Strathmore with his wife Joy, continuing to travel and spending time with family and friends. His passing will leave such emptiness in all our hearts. We are grateful for his life, love, and memories.

Funeral services were held on October 19, 2008 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Dalum, Alberta with Pastor Dawn Nelson and Pastor Dan Hendrickson officiating. Interment followed in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church Cemetery. With sadness we announce the sudden passing of Caryl Lavine at 70 years of age, a free spirit through-out life. She has gone on to join her father Viggo Haahr, brothers Gerry and Jack Haahr, her son Patrick and her grandson Ryan Micheal. Caryl is survived by her mother Ida Haahr, daughters Debbie and Christine, son Pete (Cindi), grandsons Dylan, Jesse and Logan, and granddaughters Alysia, Stephanie and Vanissa. SANDERS -- Gordon 1933 - 2008
Gordon Sanders passed away peacefully on October 9, 2008 at the age of 75, after a brief illness. Gordie was born in North Battleford, Saskatchewan in 1933. As a young man he found his way to Alberta where he worked and lived the rest of his life. From 1954 to 1991, his occupation was keeping the power on for Canadian Utilities and later, Alberta Power. After his retirement, he continued with his passion for woodworking full time. He had a well-established workshop in the garage where there were no limits to his creative, imaginative and innovative abilities. He paid painstaking attention to every detail of every piece he turned out, which numbered in the thousands. He is particularly known for his beautiful clocks. There is nothing he couldn’t build or repair. In addition to being a master craftsman, Gordie was an avid fisherman. His sweetest hours were spent in the boat or on the hard water in winter with his son, grandchildren or treasured friends. Gordie was a talented and generous man with a larger-than-life spirit that was gentle, strong and profound. Left to live with the void and silence of his passing are, his wife Kate of Stettler, Alberta; daughter Wendy of Lacombe, Alberta; son Robert “Bob” (Gail) of Slave Lake, Alberta; daughter Lory (Neil Featherstone) of Carmangay, Alberta; grandchildren, Asha Sanders, Mitchell Pierce, Trent Sanders and Matthew Sanders. He also leaves to mourn a host of good and cherished friends. Gordie was predeceased by his parents Cliff and Ida; parents-in-law Jim and Mary Hannah; brother Robert; sister Mary Ann; and brother by friendship, John Chwelos.

Bael -- Jeremy 1982 - 2008
Jeremy Cyriel Bael of Drumheller, beloved son of Cyriel and Dorothy Bael and brother to Victor all of Taber, passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2008 at the age of 26 years. Jeremy was born on July 21, 1982 in Taber where he received his schooling, graduating from St. Mary’s School in 2000. He worked for various oil companies and at the time of his passing was employed at Technicoil as a driller. Jeremy’s special interests and hobbies included hunting, fishing, golfing, baseball, pool, darts and his two Ford trucks. He was well liked and will be missed by his many friends in Taber and Drumheller. GILBERT -- Lillian 1913 – 2008
Lillian Gilbert of Calgary, passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2008 at the age of 95 years. Lillian was born in Ft. Qu’Appelle, SK in 1913. In 1916 she moved to a farm near Drumheller. In 1957 she moved to Calgary. Lillian is survived by her son William (Diane); and daughter Elizabeth June (Sven); grandchildren, Nancy, Kimberly, Robin, James, Sven Jr., and Katrina; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Rebecca, Ashley, Aaron, Samantha, Alexandria, Sven III, Logan, Konnor, Katharina and Julieanna. BOTT -- Clifford William
Clifford William Bott passed away October 16, 2008. He was predeceased by his wife Bessie in 2007. He leaves to mourn 2 daughters, Judy Hunter of Drumheller, and Carol Brinson (Allan) of Aurora, Colorado. 6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 10 great, great grandchildren. He was laid to rest on October 20, 2008. He will be greatly missed by all.
BREWITT -- Kenneth R.
Robert Kenneth Brewitt was born February 20, 1923 and passed away October 29, 2008 in the Drumheller hospital. He was born on the farm in the Sunbeam area to homesteading parents. He attended school at Sunbeam, a place he had fond memories of and maintained many of those childhood friendships his entire life. In 1951, he married Freda Birkhiem and built a home on the original homestead. They ran a mixed farm with his brother Ronald and later with son Don. He lived his entire life on the same farm. For almost forty years, he and his wife delivered fresh eggs, milk, cream or dressed poultry on Thursdays to their many customers. For Ken it was a labour of love; forming close friendships with many of those customers. He enjoyed farming, especially running the tractors. He enjoyed card games or board games with neighbours and family. The large Christmas gatherings with nieces and nephews were always looked forward to. His dogs were always a part of the family and travelled with him wherever he went. Ken was a gentle and kind man, very sentimental and his tears were always close to the surface. He was a sports fan but hockey was his favorite and almost nothing could interfere with Hockey Night in Canada. His favourites were the Flames or Maple Leafs, but he could be just as excited watching a local tiny might game as a NHL team. He leaves to mourn his wife Freda and son Don and wife Diana; also Brothers-in-law Norvan Boon and Jack Birkhiem (Iris); Sister-in-law Mavis Birkhiem (and family Janice, Jim & Kathy); Nieces Donna Boon, Wendy Ramsay (Richard), Glenna McNeil (Stan), Marilyn Lind (Yens), Lorilee Boon, Barbara Komarnisky (Ken); Nephews Kevin Boon (Karen) Brian Birkhiem; and family friend Karen Lunden. BREWITT -- Ronald Oxenford
Ronald Oxenford Brewitt was born October 1, 1918 and passed away in the Drumheller hospital October 31, 2008 after suffering a major stroke. He spent the last seven months living in the Sunshine Lodge where he had settled in and was enjoying the friendships and social life. The rest of his life was lived on the farm where he was born and raised, living his entire life in the house he was born in. He attended school at Sunbeam and started farming as soon as he was finished; working in the fall on the threshing crews. Ron served five years in the army, going overseas in World War II as a cook. He returned to the farm joining his brother Ken and their father in a mixed farming operation. When their father passed away, they formed a partnership and farmed under the name Brewitt Brothers until their deaths which were less than 48 hours apart. Ronald enjoyed life on the farm but probably his favorite time had been the days of farming with horses, and he often resisted change. A farming accident with a combine took his left arm and almost his life in 1972. He battled back learning to use his prosthesis for all his farming chores. Besides farming, one of his interests was rodeo and he liked to attend the local summer rodeos. Chuckwagon racing was a favourite and he followed the wagon races on the radio wherever they were. Ronald liked to visit and could start a conversation with anyone. He was one of the few people in the world not governed by a clock. He never wore a watch and started a job when he felt like it and quit when he felt like it. Ronald was predeceased by his sister Alice Boon and brother Ken Brewitt. He leaves to mourn nieces Donna Boon, Wendy Ramsay (Richard), Glenna McNeill (Stan), Marilyn Lind (Yens), Lorilee Boon; nephews Kevin Boon (Karen), Don Brewitt (Diana) good friend Karen Lunden and sister-in-law Freda Brewitt. PUGH -- May Helen 1923 – 2008
May Pugh passed away peacefully in the Drumheller Hospital on October 30, 2008 at the age of 85 years. Born in Craigmyle, Alberta to Rudolph and Alice Shandera, May was raised on the family farm in the Hand Hills where she attended Elmer School. May married Howard Pugh of Dorothy, Alberta in 1947. During 43 years of marriage, May and Howard raised their family living in Dorothy, Rosedale, East Coulee and Drumheller. May was predeceased by her husband Howard in 1990, daughter Marilyn in 2001 and son Larry in 2003. She was also predeceased by brothers William, Raymond and Clarence and sister Annie. May leaves to mourn daughter-in-law Pearl (Larry) of East Coulee, son Bob (Corinne) of Okotoks, daughters Alice Kirkeby (Len) of Edson and Leona Ehrman (Jamie) of Olds, 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, brother Rudolph and sister Elsie of Drumheller. As a loving mother, grandmother and friend, May enjoyed working in her yard, decorating her home, playing bingo, card parties and casino trips. Her good friends and family were always a treasure to her. Funeral services for Mrs. May Helen Pugh will be held at Knox United Church, Drumheller, Alberta on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at 2:00 pm with the Reverend Jan Richardson officiating. Interment will follow at Drumheller Municipal Cemetery. Pamela Ann Martynuik (Froh) born November 4, 1970, became an angel on November 2, 2008 at Drumheller Health Center in Drumheller, AB. She watches over her husband Dwayne Martynuik, daughters Sarah (8 years) and Emily (5 years), her mother Edith Bannow (Harry), her father Gordon Froh, sister Penny Froh (Kurt Althouse), Mother-in-law Joyce Martynuik, Brothers-in-law Jarret Martynuik and Randy Martynuik (Carla), and Sister-in-law Lana Klemetski (Lawrence) and nieces Kaitlyn and Bree, nephew James, and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Pamela joins her grandparents; Tyson and Froh, her Grandparents-in-Law Martynuik and Woloshyn, her Great Grandparents, Father-in-Law Paul Martynuik, her Aunt Alice Tyson, and others in the glory of heaven.
