MARGARET BITANGO
1926 - 2009

MRS. MARGARET BITANGO, beloved wife of the late Mariyan Bitango, passed away peacefully at the St. Michael’s Health Care Centre on Sunday, February 8, 2009 at the age of 82 years.
She is the loving mother of Helen (Louis) Damphousse, Fred Bitango, and Deb (Ric) Johnston all of Lethbridge Alberta. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; two brothers, Mike (Pauline) Kolibar of Lethbridge, AB, Andy (Wanda) Kolibar of Cardston, AB, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her late husband Mariyan in 1985 and one brother Martin, and one sister Irene.
Margaret was born June 1, 1926 in Myslava, Czechoslovakia and came to Saskatchewan as a young girl and later moved to Southern Alberta where she met Mariyan. They married and raised their family on the farm in Coaldale. After retiring from the farm, Margaret and Mariyan moved to a home in Coaldale. Margaret started working at the Coaldale Pharmacy where she worked until she had her stroke.
Mom’s attitude and determination kept her smiling and loving life for the 20 years to follow. Her love of family and love for God has left a great impression on those near to her.
A Prayer Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME on Friday, February 13, 2009 at 7:00 P.M.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. AMBROSE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1513 – 23 Avenue, Coaldale, AB, on Saturday, February 14, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. with Reverend Tomy Manjaly Officiating.
In memory of Margaret, donations may be sent to St. Michael’s Recreation Department, 1400 – 9th Avenue South, Lethbridge, Alberta T1J 4V5.

DONNA BOURNE
2009

DONNA BOURNE, beloved wife of the late Bob Bourne of Magrath passed away at the Magrath Garden Vista on Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at the age of 87 years.
She is survived by Bruce Bourne of Portland, Oregon, Deanna Talari of Calgary, Wade (Arlene) Bourne of Lethbridge, Doran (Wanda) Bourne of Spruce Grove, AB and Kristine Derksen of Lethbridge, as well as 18 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her late husband Bob Bourne and brothers and sisters; Stanley, Wayne, Lawrence, Leona, Lydia, Helen and her twin sister Dora.
A Viewing will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge on Monday, February 9, 2009 from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M.
A Graveside Service will be held at the MAGRATH CEMETERY on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at 11:00 A.M.

VALERIE BELL
1914 - 2009
VALERIE BELL, 94 years old, passed away February 1, 2009 at The Good Samaritan, Park Meadow Village in Lethbridge, Alberta.
Born October 1, 1914 in Kayville, Saskatchewan.
Loving mother of Sharon and her husband Tim of Seattle, WA; Larry and his wife Teresa of Lethbridge, AB; George and his wife Cheryl of Toronto, ON and John of Calgary, AB.
Loving grandmother and great grandmother to Sandra (Peter Kaestle) Timothy & Sarah of Seattle, WA.; Melissa (Jon Cook) Chandler & Madison of Los Gatos, CA.; Tanya (Brad Stephenson) Matthew & Jack of Lethbridge, AB.; Tiffany (Henry Raats) Tia & Taylor of Las Vegas, NV.; Chad of Lethbridge, AB.; Andrea (Torstein Baasen) Nicolai, Christian & Mathias of Norway and Melanie (Adam Bourke) Oliver, Ellie & Billy of Toronto, ON.
She is survived by numerous sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Valerie was predeceased by her husband Alfred in 1982 and by her three sisters and three brothers.
Her family would like to say a special thank you to the caregivers in Cottage #4 and to the nursing staff of Park Meadow Village.
A private family graveside service is planned for a later date. Donations in Valerie’s memory can be made to The Good Samaritan Society, Park Meadow, 1511- 15th Ave. N., Lethbridge, AB T1H 1W2, The Canadian Diabetic Society or a Charity of your choice.

BRADFORD BJORNSON
2009

BRADFORD (BRAD) EARL BJORNSON passed away early Monday, January 26th surrounded by loved ones.
Brad lived a good life. He graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Degree in Geological Engineering. He then went on to obtain his Professional Engineering designation. He began his career in exploration geology and throughout the years worked in the coal industry in the Elk Valley and Campbell River, B.C. Eventually, he transitioned to the oil sands in Fort McMurray, AB. Brad was semi-retired and loved living in Lethbridge. Brad was married his to his sweetie Elizabeth Hanson Bjornson for 31 wonderful years, and raised four talented daughters (Rebecca, Jessica, Margaret and Kathleen) who have gone on to bless him with five precious grandchildren (Breanna, Kyle, Kayley, Charlotte, and baby Meredith). In his spare time Brad loved to turn good wood into sawdust, spend time in the great outdoors, took photos, gardened and golfed. Brad had a passion for music and was never content to stay still. Brad had an excellent sense of humour, loved to tease and his laughter will be missed just as much as his moustache.
A Funeral Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge on Thursday, January 29, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend Lois Punton officiating. Interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family is asking donations be made to Alberta Cancer Foundation.

THERESA BEDDOME
2009

THERESA MARIE (LaFRENIERE) BEDDOME, beloved wife of Donald Beddome for 55 years of Barons, AB passed into eternal peaceful sleep on Sunday January 18, 2009 at the age of 73 years.
Theresa is survived by her children; Carla (John) Morgan of Brandon, MB; Terry (Andessa Menci) Beddome of Redcliff, AB; Bruce (Deb) Beddome of Barons; Sharon (Michael) Campbell of Medicine Hat, AB; brenda (Andy Fraser) gullickson of Barons; Grandmother and great-grandmother to Deanna (Barry) Williamson and Taylor and Sarah; Trevor (Edith) Morgan and Tia-Lee and Trista; Brianne and Michael Beddome; Shelby Ardnt; Brett and Daniel Beddome; Helena (Benton) Bailey and Teagan; Analyn (Chad Cox) Walker and Joey; Elora Beddome; Chris (Michelle) Gullickson; Tiffany Gullickson.
She is also survived by siblings; Eleanor (Don) Beck; Delores (Gerald) Orton; Dennis (Linda) LaFreniere; Linda (Don) Stewart; and sister-in-laws Mae and Wilma LaFreniere. She was pre-deceased by her parents Wilfred and Helena LaFreniere; siblings Joe, Marie- Ange and Raymond and a great-granddaughter Kyra Ann Bailey.
Theresa was born and raised in Portage La Prairie, MB, moved to Brandon in 1967 and in 1974 moved to Alberta, finally settling 3 miles southeast of Barons by Keho Lake. She owned/operated the Baronial Restaurant in Barons for a few years until 1987 when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. In 2003, her cancer metastasized and in 2005 she moved to her “new” home at West Highlands Centre in Lethbridge, AB. In the 21 years since diagnosis she enjoyed travelling, participating in the Alberta Senior Games in which she won several medals, serving as President of the Barons Legion Branch #160, President of Barons Seniors, member of Nobleford and Nordbridge Seniors and her favourite hobby of fishing on “her pond” at Keho Lake.
A Funeral Service will be held at BARON’S MEMORIAL UNITED CHURCH, 205 Queens Street, Baron’s AB on Thursday, January 22, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. with Barbara Gullickson officiating.
Interment will follow at later date in Portage La Prairie.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Barons Memorial United Church: P.O. Box 205, Barons, AB, T0L 0G0.

GRACE BURNS-DALE
1935 - 2009

GRACE DOLORES BURNS-DALE entered into eternal peace in the arms of her Lord and Savior after a courageous and valiant battle with cancer, at the age of 73 years on Wednesday January 7, 2009 at St. Michael’s Palliative Care Unit with her family by her side. Words cannot express the profound sadness that her passing leaves in the lives of all who hold the honor of knowing her.
Grace was born in Medicine Hat on April 29, 1935. She was raised and received her schooling in Barons. Grace graduated with her Laboratory & X-ray Technician certification from North Western Institute in Minneapolis Minnesota in 1954. She worked in the medical field for many years.
She will be desperately missed and forever in our hearts of her family. She is survived by her son Brian (Enid) of Parksville, B.C., daughter Venita (Rick) of Champion and her 7 grandchildren Meghan, Brittany, Cole, Jarred, Rebecca, Josiah and Jessica.
In April 2000 Grace was married to Douglas Dale from Kansas in Branson Missouri. He was killed in a tragic accident in 2002.
Grace possessed a passion and exuberance for life. Her positive attitude was a beacon for those around her. She was a gifted seamstress and enjoyed all kinds of handiwork, creating many beautiful keepsakes for her family. She was always working on something as her hands were never still. Being outside and working in her yard and garden was another hobby she enjoyed. Grace was a wonderful cook and enjoyed preparing delicious meals & baking for those she loved. Grace always had a deep love for the mountains and enjoyed many memorable times in their grandeur and beauty.
Over the years she met and kept many friends and cherished them very much.
Grace was predeceased by her dad Earl Burns in 1970, her brother Robert in 1990 and her mom Jeannie Burns in 2002.
A Celebration of Grace’s life will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge for friends and family on Monday, January 12, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor John Moerman officiating.
Interment will be held at a later date.
In memory of Grace, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 317-10th Street South, Lethbridge, AB, T1J 2M7.

HELEN BEATTIE
2008

HELEN ROSE BEATTIE of Lethbridge, Born January 27, 1935 in Daysland, Alberta, passed away December 23, 2008 at the age of 73 years.
Helen is survived by her three children; Lesley Grubel, Bill (Daune), Rudy (Esther); 2 grandchildren Derek and Jack.
Helen is also survived by her partner Al Hopp and his children Greg and Jody; numerous brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
Helen was predeceased by her late husband William (Bill) Beattie in 1991.
Helen was one of sixteen children, and was predeceased by 2 brothers and 1 sister.
Helen will be dearly missed by her loving family and friends.
A Funeral Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend Cathy Coates officiating.

ROY BRAILEAN, of Lethbridge, formerly of Saskatoon, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2008.
Roy is survived by his loving wife, Beth and one daughter, Brenda Nightingale, of Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan.
At Roy’s request there will be no service. Cremation.

TANNIS BIG THROAT

Our beautiful TANNIS RAE (ELI) BIG THROAT passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at St. Michael’s Palliative Care on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at the tender age of 23 years.
She leaves to mourn her best friend, husband and soul mate Desmond Big Throat, daughters; Allyssa and Sherise Brave Rock and son Jayce Small Eyes; parents Faron Brave Rock and Gloria Eli; brother Jim Brave Rock, special parents Allan Eli and Marilee Eli; special sister and brother Ashla and A.J. Eli; father and mother-in-law Roland and Peggy Big Throat, sisters-in-law Leeann (Darcy) Russell and Chantelle (Kyle) Tail Feathers Big Throat; brothers-in-law; Fabian (Patricia) Shot Both Sides, Jimmy Shot Both Sides and Kelly Big Throat. Also the families of Well’s, Brave Rock’s, Eli’s, Chief Moon’s from Stand Off and Wolf Tail’s from Brocket. Our precious Tannis was born August 10, 1985 in Cardston, Alberta and received her education at Stand Off, Glenwood and Kainai High Schools. Her highlights in life included when she attended Glenwood School, her basketball team defeating the Lady Warriors of Kainai High, when she met the love of her life Desi, when she made her sacred vows with him and attending church at New Life Fellowship with her husband and in-laws.
Her interests were playing basketball, listening to music, shopping, spending time with her children and friends and going to the movies with Desi.
Tannis was predeceased by her infant child Tannis Dezrae Big Throat, 2 brothers Levi and Dale Brave Rock, grandparents; Wilfred and Florence Brave Rock and Floyd and Mary Anne Eli. At this time Desmond and his family would like to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the nursing staff on 4C at the Chinook Regional Hospital, St. Michael’s Palliative Care, Dr. Dotie from the Haig Clinic, chaplain Pastor John Moerman, all the full gospel christians, mormon elders and the native spiritual elders that came to say prayers for our dear Tannis.
She will be dearly missed by her husband, family and friends.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Family Service and Wake at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive south, Lethbridge, on Tuesday, December 9, 2008 from 5:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service will be held at the New LIFE FELLOWSHIP CHURCH, (Little Chicago) Blood Reserve, on Wednesday December 10, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Jack Curly Rider officiating.
Interment to follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery.

BOB BOURNE, beloved husband of 68 years to Donna Bourne of Magrath passed away at the Magrath Garden Vista on Thursday, December 4th, 2008 at the age of 91 years.
Besides his loving wife, he is survived by Bruce Bourne of Portland, Oregon, Deanna Talari of Calgary, Wade (Arlene) Bourne of Lethbridge, Doran (Wanda) Bourne of Spruce Grove, AB and Kristine Derksen of Lethbridge, as well as 18 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Ira (Vivian) Bourne of Raymond and one sister in law Marian Bourne of Magrath.
He was predeceased by brothers and sisters; Doug, Mahlon, Jack, Winnifred and Bessie.
A Graveside Service will be held at MAGRATH CEMETERY on Tuesday, December 9th at 11:00. In memory of Bob, Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 207-542-7th Street South Lethbridge, AB T1J 2H1.
