Penny: Walter William Penny passed away tragically on April 18, 2006.
Walter was born on January 18, 1951 to Bill and Luella Penny of Marshall, Sask.
Walter attended school in Marshall, until grade 12, where he completed high school in Lloydminster.
Walter worked in the oil industry most of his career, starting out with Vern Skog’s Oilfield Service, next it was Pat’s Operators, and then he was hired on with Dowell of Canada.
After a lengthy time working for Dowell of Canada he became a major partner in forming, building and operating Trican
Well Services Ltd. until Trican was sold in 1994.
Too young to retire, he purchased some farm land and started a herd of elk, north of Marshall, his true pride and joy until he was forced to part with all his elk due to illness of the animals across the province.
In 1996 Walter purchased lake front property at Little Fishing Lake and built a magnificent log cabin where he often went to R and R.
Most recently Walter commenced again to build, form and operate another oilfield service company, “Penny Holdings Ltd.” which operates out of Lloydminster.
Walter was an avid and professional worker, manager, hunter, friend and family man.
He worked hard, he managed well, he hunted with great passion, and he loved family and friends, and those who worked for him.
Walter was predeceased by his father, Bill Penny in 2003, as well as numerous aunts and uncles.
Walter leaves to mourn his loving and most dear life long friend and partner Ovidia; his son Robert (Crystal) Penny and grandson Rylend Penny, his daughter Carla Penny (Kelly); his two step daughters Tina (Roy) and his granddaughter Paige, Brandi (Mike) and step son Tyson Pedersen; his mother
Luella Penny; his sisters Barbara (Terry) Bender of White City, SK, Sandra Penny (Art Little) of Kingston, Nova Scotia and Norma (Ralph) Olson of Lloydminster; and all of their families.
Walter is also survived by his in-laws, Juul and Blanche Pedersen; one aunt Betty Penny of Lloydminster and one uncle Jack Hancock of Halbrite, as well as all of his cousins, nieces and nephews.
Donna Emma Jane Durnin nee: Fleming, of Dewberry, AB
On April 19, 2006 our mom, Kate’s grandma, your sister, daughter, aunt, cousin, friend and neighbor passed away at the age of 69 years.
Born on September 28, 1936 in Elk Point, AB, Donna was the eldest child of Johnnie and Myrtle Fleming. She took her first two years of schooling in Nova Scotia and completed the rest in Dewberry.
Donna obtained a secretarial course at McTavish Business College and worked in such places as Vancouver, Edmonton and Winnipeg.
Donna married William Laurence “Laurie” Durnin on April 1, 1961.
They were blessed with two children, David and Sheri.
Donna was predeceased by her father Johnnie Fleming and her husband Laurie Durnin and niece Katherine.
She is survived by her brother Dewey (Lois) Fleming of Lloydminster, AB; her sister Rhoda Johnson of Lloydminster, AB; her mother Myrtle Fleming of Lloydminster, AB and her children David Durnin of Dewberry, AB, Sheri (Clint) Garnier of St. Paul, AB and her only grandchild Kate Maria Garnier of St. Paul, AB.
The funeral service was held on April 24, 2006 at the Dewberry Hall.
A special thanks to Dr. Rogers for his compassion; the pallbearers: John Johnson, Devon Johnson, Raymond Fleming, Lindsay Grey, Harlie Prowse and Havey Lively.

Ruth English nee: Hurlburt, of Calgary
1917 - 2006
Ruth English of Calgary, passed away on April 22, 2006 at the age of 89 years.
Born July 20, 1917 in Lashburn, SK, eldest of four children.
Predeceased by her husband Leo and brothers Gordon and Jack Hurlburt.
She is survived by four daughters, Marilyn Brown (Wayne) of Paradise Hill, SK, Margaret English of Calgary, AB, Frances Varty (Roy) of Calgary, AB and Catherine Porter of Saskatoon; eight grandchildren, Marie Brown of Vancouver, B.C., Gordon Brown of Airdrie, AB, Shannon Levesque of Vancouver, B.C., Renee Levesque of Winnipeg, MB, Jeff Varty of Perth, Australia, Leah Varty of Dublin, Ireland, Laura Jones of London, England and Kevin Porter of Saskatoon, SK; and two great grandchildren, Brayden and Kaelan Brown of Airdrie, AB.
Also surviving is her sister Marguerite Wickstrand of Battleford, SK.
With husband Leo she farmed in the Burke district near Marshall, SK.
Later she moved to Lloydminster and worked for the Jubilee Lodge and Auxiliary Hospital as a cook.
Never a stranger to hard work, she also made time for trips to Peck Lake and enjoyed gardening, baking and travelling.
She celebrated the successes of her children and grandchildren who were confident of her love and support.
Although she faced much adversity in her life she was able to rise about it and will be remembered as a good friend and neighbour as well as a tireless community volunteer.
She was recognized for her volunteer work with a citizen of the year award in 1988.
Ruth spent her final years in Calgary.
Her family wish to acknowledge the love and care given to her by companions Tracey of Lloydminster and Dina, Denise and Jennifer of Calgary.
We are very grateful. According to her wishes she will be cremated.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Emil Joseph Wiesner, of Unity
Wiesner: The passing of Emil Joseph Wiesner, age 91 years, occurred on April 16, 2006 in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan.
Prayers were said on Thursday, April 20th at 8:00 p.m. and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 21, 2006.
Both services will be held at St Peter’s Catholic Church, Unity, Saskatchewan with Bishop Gerald Wiesner OMI, Rev Fr. Cecil Zinger CSB and Rev Fr. Gerard M. Dewan as Celebrants.
Honor Guard will be formed by the Knights of Columbus.
Guestbook attendants will be Dorothy Reiniger and Margaret Boran.
Ushers will be Wilbert Zinger, James Wiesner, Frank Gumpinger and Terry Wiesner.
Offertory gifts will be presented by Ken and Dolores, Pat and Yvonne and Loraine and Don.
Music by Our Lady of Peace Choir.
Organist will be Carolyn Kopp.
Eulogy by Shawn Wiesner.
Readers will be Mervin Wiesner and Andrea Wiesner.

Emil is survived by his loving family; two sons, Ken (Dolores) of Christina Lake, B.C., their family, Shawn (Lisa) and their daughter, Danielle of Kamloops, Shelley (Kevin) Halliday and their children, Justin, Chantelle and Brooke McIntyre and Carley and Ashley Halliday of Pitt Meadows, B.C.; Jarrod of Maple Ridge B.C.; Pat (Yvonne) of Unity, Saskatchewan and their family, Jason (Shanda) and their children, Harley, Zoey and Jaxon of Lloydminster, Alberta, Alana (Joe) Patrick and their children, Mercedes and Carter of Red Deer, Alberta, Andrea Wiesner of Lloydminster, Alta and Allyson Wiesner (friend Dustin Grant) of Lloydminster, Sask.; one daughter, Loraine (Don) Jamieson of North Vancouver and their family, Kimberly (Keith) Shortreed and their children, Katelyn, Kelsey and Katrina of North Delta, B.C.; Krista Jamieson of West Vancouver, B.C. and Ashley Jamieson of North Vancouver, B.C.
One sister Agnes Reiniger, Saskatoon, five sisters-in-law, Hazel Wiesner, Jean Wiesner, Elenora Witzaney, Aggie Witzaney and Adeline Heitt and two brothers-in-law Joe Witzaney and Frank Heitt.
Emil was predeceased by his wife Isabel in 2004, three brothers, Leo, Joseph and George, two sisters, Frances Zinger, Anne Gumpinger, and his grandson, Bradley Wiesner.
Emil was born March 14, 1915 at Denzil, Saskatchewan and spent most of his life in the Denzil, Salt Lake and Unity area before moving to Lloydminster, AB in 2005.
He married Isabel Witzaney in 1940 and on October 12, 2000 they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
Emil’s career included elevator agent, farmer, post master, grocery store owner, school bus driver and garage owner.
Emil served on the Unity Town Council and was a life member of the Knights of Columbus.
His love was wood working and his handiwork can be seen today in the homes of his children, grandchildren, family and friends.
One of Emil’s favorite things to do was to visit Loraine and Ken in B.C.
Emil loved to tell stories and was very gifted at it.
The family has requested that tributes to the late Emil Wiesner may be made to Masses or Unity Senior Citizens Lodge.
