Mr. Floyd Olsen of High River, formerly of the Brant area, passed away at the High River Hospital & Nursing Home on March 20th, 2001 at the age of 83 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Jean of High River; his daughter Laurlee Berger, Okotoks; his grandchildren Robert and Lindsay and numerous nieces and nephews. Floyd was predeceased by his parents Ira and Maryette Olsen and by three brothers and six sisters. Floyd was born June 16th, 1917 at Brant, AB and continued to live and farm in that area for 32 years. He drove school bus for the County of Vulcan for six years. In 1973, Floyd and Jean moved to High River where he was employed with the UFA Bulk station and Gulf Servico. Floyd loved music and dancing and was very proficient at playing the piano and the organ. The Lawrence Welk Show was a favourite. He also enjoyed sports, both as a spectator and a participant and loved to play baseball and hockey. He loved woodworking and designed many interesting pieces. A memorial service was held at Snodgrass Funeral Chapel, High River on Saturday, March 24th at 1:30 p.m. with the Reverend David Robertson officiating. LLOYD
Mr. Morgan Lloyd of Edson passed away at the University Hospital, Edmonton on May 28th, 2001 at the age of 74 years. He is survived by his three sons: Trevor (Wendy) Lloyd of High River; David Lloyd of Calgary and Michael Lloyd (Maxine) of Portage La Prairie, MB; his four daughters Heather Miller of Medicine Hat; Patricia (Nick) Kolba of Brandon, MB; Valerie Lloyd of Vancouver, BC; Megan Lloyd, Surrey, BC and by his ten grandchildren. Morgan is also survived by his one brother and two sisters in Wales. He was predeceased by one brother. Morgan was born in North Wales and grew up on a dairy farm. At age 19 years he went to the Falkland Islands for five years before coming to Canada where he settled in Alberta. For the past 33 years, Morgan has resided on his farm at Edson. A Memorial Service was held at the Edson Mennonite Church on Saturday, June 2nd at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Paul Voegtlin officiating. Cremation took place at Parklawn Crematorium, High River. MACARTNEY
Bernice "Barney" Macartney of High River passed away peacefully at the Little Bow Auxiliary Hospital on May 30, 2001 at the age of 81 years. Loving mother of Robert Macartney, Christena Haworth - Macartney and Kenzie Macartney. Loving mother-in-law of Helju and Ann Macartney. Loving grandmother of Bill, Dan and Rob Haworth, also Arnie, Heather, Adrian, Genevieve and Jessica Macartney. Loving sister and aunt of Dorothy Cope and family. Barney was recently predeceased by her husband Bill on Jan 5/2001. Cremation was followed by a private family graveside service at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens in Calgary. Both Bill and Barney will be dearly missed.
TAYLOR
Helen Mae Taylor of High River, passed away at the High River Hospital on June 2, 2001 at the age of 79 years. Helen is survived by her daughter; Muriel (Calvin) Dandron; sons, Lyle (Shirley- Don) Taylor and Ronald (Rhonda) Taylor, all of High River; grandchildren, Reid Taylor, Tara-Lynne Taylor, Craig Taylor, Wade Taylor, Jeff Taylor, Jennifer Dandron, Heather Walsh, June Polnau, Aaron Taylor, three great-grandchildren, Swaize, Julie and Hanna; sisters, Dell Whitney and Susan McTighe, brother, Gerald (Isabelle) Whitney, sister-in-law, Echo Taylor. Helen was predeceased by her husband Thomas, sons, Bruce and Ross, sister Muriel Noble, brothers, Donald and Boyd Whitney, brothers-in-law, Edward, James and Robert Taylor. Funeral services were held at Snodgrass Funeral Chapel, High River on Thursday, June 7, 2001 at 1:00 p.m., with Reverend Jeanne Forte officiating. Interment followed at Highwood Cemetery.
