She and Robert married on September 22, 1951 and settled on the family ranch where they raised their four children. In the early years she fed many hungry hired men. As life got easier there was finally time for play, she baked the best chocolate cake ever for coffee on the deck after summer time roping. Doreen will be remembered as a generous and giving person, both to her family and her community. They were proud and appreciative recipients. Doreen was a perfectionist when it came to sewing – her children and grandchildren being the beneficiaries of many clothes and prize-winning quilts over the years; her flower and vegetable gardens were much admired; she made the best roast beef supper and there was always room at her table for at least one more. Doreen was a huge and enthusiastic supporter of her husband’s, children’s and grandchildren’s many endeavours including team roping, rodeo, 4-H, hockey, baseball, Ukrainian dancing, wrestling and music recitals and concerts.
