Jim was predeceased by his wife Edna on December 17, 1996. BEEBY -- Maudie Elizabeth Beeby passed away in the Bethany Care Centre on December 19, 1997. She was born in Calgary on May 11, 1913 and married Gordon Barker on December 18, 1940, and Wilfred Beeby on July 16, 1960. Maudie worked at the Calgary General Hospital Central Supply Room in the 1950's and 1960's and moved to Fairmont Hot Springs, British Columbia in 1968, where she worked at the Fairmont Campground and as a hostess in Fairmont Lodge Restaurant. Maudie is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Brian Carlson, and much loved grandsons, Jason and Jordan; as well as a niece and nephew in the U.S. and other relatives in Calgary. Maudie is predeceased by her first husband F.G. Barker in 1948, and her second husband W. Beeby in 1991, son Frederick Barker in 1985 and sister Marguerite Neilson in 1993. BROWN -- Menno William, of Black Diamond, born on January 1, 1922 at Rosenfeld, Manitoba, passed away at Black Diamond on December 19, 1997. He served in the Royal Canadian Army for thirty-one years, overseas during World War II, 1942 to 1946, in Korea 1953 to 1954 and in Egypt in 1966. Menno was a R.C.E.M.E. sergeant when he retired in 1972. Menno is survived by his wife Theresa, Black Diamond; his sons, Terry of Longview and Murray (Cheryl), Blackie; his daughters, Helana (Gerry) O'Neill, Provost and Penny Brown, Black Diamond; his grandchildren, Theresa (Fred) Nicholson, Calvin (Kim) O'Neill, Grady Brown and Jerraco and Averoe Brown; and his great-granddaughters, Tamara and Jori Nicholson. He is also survived by his sister Bernice (Bill) Amdor, Medicine Hat and Jim (Jean) Brown, Comox, B.C.; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father William in 1967, his mother Helen in July, 1997, his son Larry Brown in August, 1997 and his sister Dorothy Stuart in 1977. CONNOLLY -- Helen Irene Connolly died peacefully at Bethany Care Centre in Airdrie on December 18, 1997 at the age of 88 years. Helen was born in 1909 at Spring Lake, Alberta. Helen fulfilled her professional teaching career in local Alberta schools as well as in Langley, British Columbia. She was truly a stimulating and inspiring Christian woman. She leaves to mourn her loss, siblings and their spouses, Agnes Reilander of Lethbridge, Leo and Jean Vos of Daysland, Brother Alfred Vos, OFM of Lumsden, Saskatchewan, Kathleen Rath of Edmonton, Henry and Mary Vos, and Genevieve Vos, all of Calgary. Helen was predeceased by her husband Irwin (Dave) Connolly, five sisters and a brother. DANIELSON -- Joseph Andrew Danielson, passed away at the Peter Lougheed Centre on Saturday, December 20, 1997 at the age of 80 years. He was predeceased by his wife of forty-eight years, Ethel, in 1993. He is survived by his daughter Clarice (Ray) Bulman, Kamloops; his sons, Wayne (Corrie) Danielson, Airdrie, Larry Danielson, Vancouver and Richard (Jane) Danielson, Calgary. He is also survived by his brother Ed Danielson, Vancouver Island; and his loving sisters, Emily McRoberts, Esther Lumgair and Vi (Warren) Dunsmoor, all of Calgary; as well as many nieces and nephews. Joe will be greatly missed by his ten grandchildren, Jasmine Danielson, Joe Danielson, Elisha Danielson, Kris Danielson, Kailey Danielson, Peter Danielson, Crystal Bulman, Tiffany Bulman, Ellen Danielson and Tessie Danielson. He will also be missed by his little friends, who called him "Papa Joe" or "Grandpa Joe" and to whom he provided a non-ending supply of candy. They include Jordan Leitch, Matthew Theriault and Danica Armstrong. There are many friends who made Joe's life much richer with their kindness and hospitality before, and especially after, the death of his life-partner, Ethel. They include Esther and Shirley Shymansky, Ken and Rose Leitch, Kay and Frank Armstrong, Marv Garrison, Jack and Sandy Summers, Bernice Dunsmoor, Michelle and Ken Theriault, Ron, Chantell and Ken Leitch, The Armstrong Boys, Rob and Donna Simpson, Tracy and Colleen Allen. Joe was predeceased by his mother, Gina Marie, two sisters, Lila Dunsmoor and Sylvia Ludlow, and one brother, Dan Danielson, as well as his brothers-in-law and good friends, Bill Ludlow, Vern Summers, Alex Lumgair and Cec Dunsmoor. At this time, Joe's family would like to extend their most sincere appreciation to Joe's family physician and friend, James Corley, for his always excellent and compassionate care of Joe in the last five years. DAVEY -- Albert (Al) George Davey passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 20, 1997 at the age of 85 years, after a courageous battle against heart and lung disease. Al was born in 1912 in Cornicopia, Alberta. As a youngster he lived in the Crow's Nest Pass area and the Drumheller Valley. He became a Calgarian in 1940. Al served four years in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II and was a member of the Army, Navy, Air Force Veterans Association. He was active with the Boy Scouts of Canada as a Rover Leader with the 18th Scout Troop for many years. He was also a supporter of the Calgary Boys and Girls Band. Al was an early entrepreneur in the city and owned the Alberta Paint and Autobody until his retirement at the age of 70 years. He will be joyfully remembered by his friends and family for his wonderful sense of humour, his positive attitude and his never ending wit. We know the Lord as welcomed him. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-six years, Margaret (Grace) Davey; his devoted children, Jack and Marsha Davey and Sandra and Neil Smith; his sister Emma Mills; as well as his four granddaughters, Jennifer, Krista, Nicole and Jillian. Al is predeceased by his parents, George and Agnes and sisters, Betty and Agnes. DENBURY -- Douglas George Edward Denbury, born in Calgary on August 20, 1920, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 19, 1997 after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Margretha (Nell), whom he met and married while serving his country during World War II. He is also survived by his only son Leslie and his wife Karen, and grandsons, Matthew and Michael; his sisters, Betty Piedmont and Ruth (Jim) Quinn; his sister-in-law Ruth Denbury; and many nieces and nephews. FETTER -- Gladys Irene Fetter passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving daughters, Marian Jefferies and Mavis Fetter, on December 19, 1997 at the age of 92 years. Gladys was born in Sherwood, North Dakota and immigrated to Antelope in 1910 with her parents, Henry and Dorathea Walker. Gladys married her beloved husband Bryan in Cabri, Saskatchewan on November 7, 1927. Their marriage was blessed with four children, Alan Fetter (Dorothy) of Edmonton, Alberta, Marian Jefferies and Mavis Fetter of Calgary, Alberta, and Edward Fetter (deceased), and Francis of Nova Scotia. Gladys and Bryan celebrated sixty-three wonderful years of marriage, before Bryan passed away on November 25, 1989. Gladys was a loving grandmother and great-grandmother. There were thirteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brothers, Henry, Edward and sisters, Helen and Esther. Mary Ann NuFable was a loving and dedicated care giver to Gladys until the last. Gladys had a wonderful artistic talent and was a thirty-five year member of the Calgary Rock and Lapidary Club. Her displays will be missed at the annual Lapidary Show.
