SORENSEN -- Katherine passed away at the Bethany Care Centre on Friday, December 26, 1997 at the age of 85 years. She was predeceased by her loving husband Walter in 1991. She will be missed very much by her children, Anna (Henry), Erling (Birgit), Else (Vagn), Kurt (Bonnie), Birgit (Ivan), Mogens and Kathe (Steve); as well as by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. THOMAS -- Mary Thomas passed away at the Forest Grove Care Centre on December 24, 1997, at the age of 83 years. During Mary's life, she had a great love for Collie Dogs and was known by some of her neighbors as "The Lady With The Dog". In Mary's earlier years, she attended Bible School in Edmonton. Mary is survived by three nieces and three nephews, and by many friends. She was predeceased by a niece in July of 1997. THORNDYKE -- Harold Victor passed away on Thursday, December 25, 1997 at the age of 81 years. He is survived by his wife Jo; and two sons and daughters-in-law, Gerry and his wife Carol, and Dennis and his wife Sharon (Sherri); also by his three grandchildren, Brian Thorndyke, Tammy Thorndyke-Mains and her husband Bill Mains, and Robert Thorndyke. Harold also leaves to mourn his one sister-in-law Evelyn Aldous. He was predeceased by his twin brother George and George's wife Jean. He will be cherished forever for being a good husband, father, grandfather and friend. He served with the Royal Canadian Naval Reserve for five years on convoy duty in the Atlantic Ocean and the North Sea. He will forever by remembered for his contribution to Canada's freedom. At Harold's request, there will be no formal Funeral Services. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Harold's name may be made to the "Agape Manor Hospice Fund". The family wishes to express their deepest and heartfelt thanks to the Agape Manor Hospice for all of their help in this time of need. WATMOUGH -- Mr. Jason Mark Watmough of the Coalhurst, AB area and formerly of Calgary, AB, beloved son of Heather Jossa and Ken Watmough, passed away suddenly near Diamond City, Alberta on Wednesday, December 24, 1997 at the age of 25 years. Jason is survived by his mother Heather (Bill) Jossa; his father Ken Watmough; three brothers, his twin Jeff, Ryan, Glen (Rusty); and by his sister-in-law Laurie McBain. Jason is also survived by his grandma Ruth Beckwith and grandpa Charlie Watmough; his aunts and uncles, Norm and Connie, Irene and Les, and Sylvia and George; his cousins, Tyler (Sherry), Pam, Loranne (Derrick), Shannon, Malcolm and Shawna (Ted). Jason was born on May 18, 1972 in Calgary, AB. He was raised in Calgary, attending Henry Wisewood High School. He was active in hunting, playing hockey, fly fishing and camping. Jason moved to the Lethbridge area in February of 1997. He will be greatly missed by his family, his many friends and his dog "Coop". WEBER -- It is with great sadness that the family of Grant LeRoy Weber would like to inform friends of his passing on Sunday, December 21, 1997 at the age of 77 years. Grant will be lovingly remembered by his wife Catherine; their three remaining children, Ron, Sharron-Lea, and Gary, and their families; as well as the family of their deceased son Gerald Roy Weber. Grant was born December 29, 1919 in the city of Edmonton. After service with the Royal Canadian Air Force, he joined his brother Gerald (deceased) in the partnership of Cardinal Coach Lines which they operated for many years. Grant served his community through dedication to various historical associations in the province. BARAN -- Mrs. Maria Baran of Calgary, passed away at the Bow View Manor on December 26, 1997 at the age of 94 years. Left to cherish her memory are her nephew John (Lydia) Krill; a great-nephew Bohdan (Sheila) Krill and their children, Matthew and Natalia Krill; a great-niece Maria (Mark) Ochitwa and their children, Christine and Gregory Ochitwa, all of Calgary. She was predeceased by a sister Paraska and brother-in-law Panko Krill in North Battleford, Saskatchewan. She was born in Bazar, Chortkiw, Ukraine and came to Canada in 1949 to North Battleford, Saskatchewan and in 1952 moved to Calgary to reside near her nephew, John Krill and his wife Lydia and family. Mrs. Baran was a member of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church. She is also survived by her brothers, Christoph (Helga) Dobler, Gottlieb (Theresa) Dobler, Erwin Dobler (Jane), Emil (Sandra) Dobler, all of Calgary; and also Artur Bartz; and numerous nieces and nephews. BAUMANN -- Gertrude Helene passed away at Bow Crest Nursing Home quietly on December 25, 1997 at the age of 91. She was predeceased by her husband Willi O. Baumann in June of this year. Mrs. Baumann was born in 1906 in West Prussia, Germany. In 1951 she and her husband immigrated to Canada. She will be sadly missed by her son Egon, his wife Lieselotte of Nelson, B.C.; her grandson Terry Baumann, his wife Linda and their children Katie and Christopher, also of Nelson; and her granddaughter Ramona Slattery, and husband Kres of Calgary; and many relatives and friends in Germany and Canada. CHRISTENSEN -- Mr. Charles (Charlie) Edward Christensen, beloved husband of Virgie, passed away at the Rosedale Hospice on December 26, 1997. He was born August 10, 1916 on the family homestead located MW17, 24, 21, W4 (south east of Standard) and always felt privileged to be a native Albertan. Besides his loving wife Virgie, Charlie will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Carol and Mark Pollard of Calgary; his son Murray and Sonia of Chancellor; son Lyle and Eileen of Hussar; and son Dale of New York. Grampa will be fondly remembered by his five grandchildren, Melissa and Jessica Pollard, Craig Christensen, and Kisa and Leah Christensen. Charlie will be deeply missed by sisters, Alice and John Toogood of Edmonton, Betty and Bob Louden; and brothers, Harry and Evelyn, and Howard Christensen; as well as special friend Betty Christensen, all of Calgary. In addition to his many nieces and nephews who all hold special memories of their uncle, Dad's multitude of friends will also feel a great loss. SKOL!
