HALLGREN - 1938 - 2007 - Shirley Rose Hallgren of Red Deer, passed away suddenly at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Sunday, November 11, 2007, at the age of 69 years. Shirley was born on August 4, 1938 in the county of Red Deer. She completed all of her schooling in Red Deer and graduated from the Composite High School. After graduating she worked at Scott's 5 to a Dollar, Sears, Holmes Drug Store, Tamblyn Drugs and recently retired from 15 plus years at Canadian Tire. Shirley loved reading and her and her mother took great pride in their garden, flower beds and immaculate yard. She supported and enjoyed her daughter's and grandchildren's many sports endeavors and the Battle of Alberta in NHL Hockey and CFL football was always a topic of conversation. Shirley is survived by her daughter, Cindy (Hallgren) and her husband Dr. Michael Dahms and their two children, Jessica and Danny all of Calgary, a brother, Bill (Dot) Murray of Red Deer, four nephews, Gordon (Teresa) Murray of Edmonton, David (Debbie) Murray of Surrey, British Columbia, Dick Murray, Stuart (Karen) Murray both of Red Deer and numerous aunts, uncles, great nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her mother, Alvina Pearl Murray on July 17, 2004 and her father, William Lindsay Murray, who was killed in action in WWII, March 19, 1944. Cremation entrusted to Central Alberta Crematorium. A Memorial Service will be held for both Shirley and her mother Pearl, at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 35, 2810 Bremner Avenue, Red Deer on Thursday, November 29, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers and if friends so desire, they may bring a new unwrapped toy to the memorial service. BAIRD, Geertruda "Truus" F. E. M. - On November 19, 2007 Truus Baird of Sylvan Lake passed away at the Bethany Care Centre at the age of 82 years. Truus is survived by her husband Bill of 62 years; her daughter Angela (husband Jim Hodgins) of Maple Ridge, B.C.; son Bob of Calgary; grandson Cameron (Valarie and great granddaughters Emily and Olivia) all of San Francisco, U.S.A. and granddaughters Danielle (presently teaching English and music in Berlin, Germany) and Kimberley (with great grandson Jamie) of Burnaby, B.C. Truus is predeceased by her parents, her sister Tiny and Brother Joop all of Holland. Truus was born May 1, 1925 in Eindhoven, Holland. She met, then married Bill (R.C.A.F.) in Eindhoven on April 17, 1945. She then arrived in Canada in 1946 as a war bride. Truus could speak Dutch, English, French and German- imagine being able to say "no" in four different languages! Truus enjoyed her arts and crafts, also modeling and acting (in mini theatre) plus knitting and was an avid reader. She loved to travel and enjoyed our winter months in Arizona. A Celebration of Geertruda "Truus" Baird’s Life will be held at the Chapel of the Sylvan Lake Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. Inurnment will follow at the Sylvan Lake Cemetery. HARLEY - Garry Harley of Red Deer passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on November 20, 2007 at the age of 61 years. Garry will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Lillian Myrtle Harley, his mother, Michaeline Harley of Edmonton, two daughters; Janelle (Chris) Wakaruk of Calgary and Sharla (Sheldon) Piecowye of Red Deer, one grandson, Gavin, four step-daughters; Sandra (Hugh) Geake of Morden, Manitoba, Gloria Mahon of Vancouver, Valerie (Greg) Perih of Red Deer and Cheryl Andire of Red Deer. He is also survived by one sister, Linda (Brian) Swenson of Edmonton. Garry was predeceased by his father, Nicholas Harley. GRAHAM, Mathew
GRAHAM - Mathew Joseph Graham, born May 12, 1986, was taken away from his family and friends November 24, 2007 in Blackfalds, Alberta. Mat left behind to mourn his mom Margaret, his dad Mike, brothers Michael and Mark, grandmothers Claire Steward and Teresa Graham, his fiancé Megan Buchannon, best friends Ryan Woods and Stuart Holteen, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many friends. Mat was born in Lacombe, AB. in 1986 - the year of the “Big Storm”, which set the pace for his short life. He touched many people with his quick sense of humor and his huge personality. Family was very important to Mat and he made a point of contacting his family every day. Mat loved his family, Megan, his guitar and his skateboard with all he had. He is loved by many and will be missed. ELIUK, Walter
ELIUK - Walter Eliuk of Innisfail passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Monday, November 19, 2007 at the age of 75 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 51 years, Audrey, his two sons: Lance of Red Deer and Grant of Innisfail. Walter will also be missed by his brother, Bill (Iris) and his two sisters: Mary and Vicky as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Walter was predeceased by his parents, Nick and Lena as well as his brother, George. Throughout his life Walter worked in many trades such as the oilfield, painting, ranching, farming, welding and mechanics. After moving to Innisfail he became a devout gardener who often shared his produce with his neighbors. He was an avid sports fan especially football, hockey and curling. In his younger years he played guitar and sang in a band while working at the #76 Ranch. Walter always believed there were only two types of real music - country and western. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at 4415 – 49 Street, Innisfail, AB, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, November 26, 2007.
