John is survived by his loving wife Anne of Beiseker; children, Donald (Edith) of Calgary, George (Lynda) of Red Deer, John (Marcelle Nihei) of Calgary, and Helen (Orville) Megli of Ferintosh. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Calvin, David, Troy, Cory, Jeremiah, Jonathon, Jason, Jean and April; great-grandson Matthew and his sister Josie Kanderka of Calgary. LOW -- William Gould, at Mississauga Hospital, on Saturday, December 13, 1997 in his 69th year. Beloved husband of the late Lois. Dear step-father of Ruth Meinecke and her husband Guy Gibbons of Montreal, Karen and her husband Larry Thomas of Calgary; and "Grandpa Bill" to David, Andrew and Jessica. Also loved by brother Richard and his wife Dorothy of London, Ontario; their four children; and brother-in-law and close friend Chris Doscher and his wife Sonya. Bill was a Chartered Accountant with Hyde Houghton in Montreal. He moved to Toronto in 1979 to strengthen and establish their Toronto office. He became the firm's managing partner, retiring in 1991 to do consulting. He loved golf and was an active member of Mississauga, Royal Montreal, and Dataw. He was proud of his Scottish roots and was a life member of the St. Andrew's Society. Memorial Visitation with family members will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 17 at TURNER & PORTER "Peel" Chapel, 2180 Hurontario Street, Mississauga (Highway 10, North of QEW). MADSEN -- Ejnar Blaesbjerg of Calgary, passed away at the Foothills Hospital on Saturday December 13, 1997 at the age of 65 years. Ejnar was born February 03, 1932 in Skjelbak, Denmark, the youngest of twelve children. In 1956 Ejnar emigrated to Canada and settled directly in Calgary. Through association with Sharon Lutheran Church, he met and married Joyce Slinn in 1958. Together they raised five children. In 1972 Ejnar took over Northland Refrigeration, a business belonging to his late father-in-law. Besides the huge responsibilities of running a business, Ejnar found time to be a member of the Danish Canadian Club, and the Sons of Norway. He was quite proud of his heritage and loved being involved with his fellow Scandinavians. Ejnar was well known for his card playing, and he could figure out even the most difficult of Danish crosswords. He will be missed by many and remembered by all. He is the loving father of five children, Margaret Madsen (Dean Murdoch) of Stavely, Jens (Jo-Ann), Arne, Sven, Ben, all of Calgary; his four grandchildren, Jackson of Moosejaw, Saskatchewan, Stephen of Stavely, Amanda and Kyle, both of Calgary. He is also survived by three sisters and two brothers, Lis, Elly, Oda, Karl, and Svend, all of Denmark; also numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Joyce in 1996 and brother Arne also in 1996. MIKO -- Mrs. Sherry Joy Miko, beloved wife of Mr. Erwin Miko of Airdrie, passed away peacefully at the Peter Lougheed Hospital on Friday, December 12, 1997 after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Sherry and Erwin resided in Airdrie for the last sixteen years. Mrs. Miko loved to crochet, do ceramics, gardening, traveling and many other activities with her family and friends. She loved the company of many neighborhood children. She will always be remembered for her generosity towards others and for her courage and strength, her sense of humor and for her spirit during her life and her illness. She will be greatly missed by her loving husband Erwin; a son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Dani of Lethbridge; two daughters and a son-in-law, Debbie and Rick Evans of Didsbury, and Shelley Miko and her companion Brian Cornforth of Airdrie; seven grandchildren, Sarah Levon, Amanda, Heather, Ricky, Chancery and Chasen. She is also survived by her father Donald Wilson; her sister Carol Legge; and numerous nieces and nephews. Sherry was predeceased by her mother Marjorie Wilson, her grandmother Margaret Tobin, and her grandfather Louis Tobin. MILLER -- (Mary) Alice - died December 12, 1997, age 93 at the Mayfair Nursing Home, Calgary. Born September 22, 1904 in Killarney, Manitoba. Predeceased by her husband Kenneth Robert, April 27, 1986, brothers, Keith, Russell and Arthur, and great-grandson Shawn. Lovingly remembered by her sons, Robert (Sara) of Salmon Arm, Donald (Doreen) of Carmangay; and daughter Marjory Hanley (William) of Calgary; sister Edith Balfour of Manitou, Manitoba; twelve grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces. MIQUELON -- Mrs. Alice (Ally) Verna Miquelon (nee Doel), beloved wife or Mr. Philip Miquelon of Calgary, passed away peacefully in Calgary on December 15, 1997, at the age of 68 years. Alice was born in Wetaskiwin on March 10, 1929 and moved to Calgary in 1948. She worked at Lithocraft for a number of years and finished off her accounting career at MacPherson, Kelly & O'Neil. She was a board member of the Women's Villa and touched many lives through her charitable work and genuine compassion for people. Besides her loving husband, Alice is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Kelly and Jacqueline Miquelon of Gwynne; and two daughters and sons-in-law, Dawn Rae and David Williams and Dixie Miquelon and Randy Adrian, all of Calgary; as well as three grandchildren, Richard and Gavin Williams and Victoria Oliver. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Harold Doel of Wetaskiwin, Ruby Linden of Gwynne, Alberta, Robert Doel of Wetaskiwin, and Reta Inglis of Calgary. Good night little one! McDERMID -- Katherine (nee Robinson) passed away peacefully at the Foothills Hospital on December 13, 1997, following a brief illness. Born in Melfort, Saskatchewan and raised in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba, Katherine came to Calgary following the completion of her nursing training in Brandon. She was predeceased by her brothers, Arnold and John, who died in the Second World War, by her husband Don in 1979, and by her sisters, Isabel and Margaret. She is survived by her daughter Nancy; son John and daughter-in-law Laurie Allen, all of Calgary; and by her sister Florence of Fort Saskatchewan. Kaye worked for many years at the Associate Clinic following her arrival in Calgary. She was married to Don McDermid in 1952 and later left nursing to raise her family. She returned to work in the early 1970's when the Beverly Nursing Home opened its new facility on 90 Avenue S.W., and later retired as its Director of Nursing in 1983. McLEAN -- Marie McLean (nee Malloy), beloved wife of Mr. Hugh John McLean of fifty years, passed away peacefully at her residence on December 14, 1997, after a lengthy illness at the age of 79 years. Throughout her life, Marie volunteered at the Providence Creche, now known as the Providence Child Development Centre. Besides her loving husband, Marie is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
