Pioneers started coming up Brethour way
Lankeys got a lot and decided to stay.
Roads were rough, long walks to school
Best part of life was the Golden Rule.
Betty and Harold lost partners on the way
Things worked out "till they met one day."
Soon married to start a new life
Harold so proud to have Betty as his wife
The old school house was their home to be
Fixed up nice for people to see.
Soon a greenhouse was just the thing
Lots of plants for folk in the spring.
Back in the days when the Steam Show was new,
Betty said, "I know what we'll do.
Get me some cream and butter I'll make
We'll show the people how long it takes."
"There's the butter, I'll make some bread
Sell it by the slice, maybe some spread."
A legacy that's so hard to replace
Betty, we'll miss your smiling face.
Both organized Brethour Seniors Club
Using the big old school as their hub.
Many hours were spent in its overhaul
Now it s the Brethour Community Hall.
Finally Honour was coming your way
Certificates and Honours on two special days.
Everyone thinks that you're really grand
You've been great; hope you understand.
Heaven's doors are open for you
Days of suffering soon to be through.
Then God's blessing and Eternal Peace
Be yours in your last wonderful sleep.
