Regretfully we announce that Clarence David Dyck, who was born October 15, 1955, in Chilliwack, British Columbia, passed away suddenly at home in Lumby on April 12, 2008, age 52. Clarence was a long-time resident of the Lumby area, moving here in 1959. He loved the outdoors and worked in the logging industry since age 14. He is survived by: devoted wife, Bev, to whom he was married thirty-three years; two sons, Clifton (Amber) and Steven; two grandchildren, Paige and Wyatt; mother Emma; father David; one sister Sharon Green; three brothers, Mark (Kim), Alan (Laura), Calvin (Kathy); numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins. Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 19, 2008, at the White Valley Community Centre, 2250 Shields Ave., Lumby.
Officiant, Pastor Sam Tumlinson. Flowers gratefully declined.

G.R. (Bob) Wright of Abbotsford passed away peacefully on April 10, 2008 at the age of 86 years at Heritage Square, Vernon.
He is survived by five children: Diane Allen, Denise Wright (Rennie Sirianni), Craig (Janis) Wright, Robert Wright, Darcie Wright (Jim Leppard); six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at Orchard Valley and Heritage Square and Dr. J. Fourie for the kindness shown to both Dad and family.
A family memorial service will be held in Abbotsford on Friday, April 18th, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. at Hazelwood Cemetery and a reception for friends and family to follow at the clubhouse in Glenview Meadows, 3055 Trafalgar at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to NONA Child Development Centre, 2802-34 Street, Vernon, B.C. Clifford Ernest Skyrme passed away at Mara on Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at aged 76 years. Cliff will be lovingly remembered by son Sid Skyrme (Tammy) of Armstrong; daughter Devi Rendle of Salmon Arm; sister Lorraine Castro of Kamloops; grandchildren Theresa and Verch (Rory), great grandchildren Alyssa and Jaidyn all of Sparwood; numerous extended family and dog Maggie. Predeceased by parents and son William. A lifelong resident of the area, Cliff retired from the construction industry in the early 1990’s. He loved spending time with family, music, played the piano and accordion, enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting and hobby farming. A Graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 14, 2008, at Cliffside Cemetery, Enderby.

Lillian Victoria McCarthy, born May 24, 1921 in Victoria, BC, fell asleep in death at the age of 86 years April 9th, 2008 at Vernon Jubilee Hospital, Vernon, BC. She was pre-deceased by all family members. Cherishing her memory are her many friends in the Vancouver area and all those who became part of her life at the Victorian Seniors’ Residence. Lil was greatly loved and will be deeply missed by the local congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 16th, 2008 in the West Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1424 Mission Road, Vernon, BC with Don Hodge officiating.

We regret to announce the passing of a dear husband, father, grandfather & great grandfather, Jean Joseph (Jake) Vachon who died after a long struggle with deteriorating health.
Born to John & Alma Vachon in Sudbury ON, at 3 months of age he & his mom traveled back to their home in Fort St. James, thus becoming the first white baby to arrive there. He passed away at VGH on April 7 at age 87.
He met his future wife Mary in Vanderhoof, when she arrived to be the first nurse at the hospital. His greatest wish was fulfilled, that he would live and be there for his wife of 65 years, Mary. Mary passed away August 4, 2007.
Jake retired at age 78 from Coldstream Auto Parts, where he was a heavy duty mechanic. Jake, Mary & family lived in many BC locations. One being Lumby, where he worked for Dycks Garage & Ohashi Bros.
From 1942-46 he served overseas with the 85th Bridge Company as a mechanic during WWII.
Predeceased by his wife Mary, his parents and only brother Jiggs.
Dad will be missed by his family, only daughter Maureen (Joerg) Glaus, 5 sons, Rene (Merle), Leslie (Dorothy), Gerry (Louisa), Bill (Linda), Lance (Beth), 14 Grandchildren & numerous great grandchildren.
The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to the staff of Vernon Restholm, Gateby 3rd floor (his Gateby girls), and to Marilyn Marcioux, for their faithfulness to Dad & Mom. All whom came to see him his day of passing.
Prayers will be held on Sunday evening at 5:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be held at St. James Catholic Church on Monday April 14 at 11:00 a.m.
Following the service, a tea will be held in the Church Basement.

Layton Landis Rohrer went to be with the Lord on April 7, 2008. He was born February 3, 1923 in Lancaster, PA, USA, to Willis & Mabel Rohrer, the eldest of five children. Layton married Alma Ranck on October 3, 1942, and to this union was born two sons and three daughters. His occupation was dairy farming and real estate. Layton moved to Enderby in July, 1965 where he farmed and to subsidize his farming, sold Haverstore silos to many farmers throughout BC. In 1978 he moved to Ft. St. John where he farmed with his two sons. Layton had a love for agriculture and excelled in farming and raising crops. Upon retiring in 1984, he and Alma moved to Armstrong.
Layton enjoyed traveling and fishing which soon became his passion. He also enjoyed helping the family on the farm and at the Markets, playing dominos, drinking coffee with his many friends and he loved spending time with his family. His faith in God was always strong and it was his anchor to the end. Layton was pre-deceased by his wife Alma and one brother. He leaves to mourn his passing two sons Eugene (Julia) of Armstrong and Dale (Sheri) of Pennsylvania; three daughters Faye (Bill) Reynolds of Pennsylvania, Carol (Richard) Ropp of Oregon and Janet (Reuben) Reimer of Armstrong; twelve grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; three siblings Cletus Rohrer and Alma Hershey both of Pennsylvania and Mervin Rohrer of Minnesota. A Funeral Service will be held 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at the German Church of God, 4312 – 25 Street, Vernon.

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Wayne Keith Brown on Monday, April 7, 2008.
Wayne was born in Ottawa on January 21, 1947 and moved to Vernon in 1961 with parents Robert and Edna Brown and brothers Bev and Randy.
Wayne was a special needs teacher’s aide, first at My School and then at Vernon Senior Secondary School for many years before retiring in 2007. He loved animals, especially ferrets, and in the last year of his life he also adopted a cockatiel. Wayne was a singer, guitar player and talented craftsman, creating original wood carvings as gifts for friends. He had a great sense of humour and was a wonderful storyteller.
Wayne is survived by his son, Devin, his ex-wife May, his brothers Major (Ret.) Bev Brown (Mary) and Randy Brown, and his mother Edna. He was pre-deceased by his brother Darryl and his father, Robert.
Funeral service for Wayne Brown will be held on Thursday, April 17 at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Pleasant Valley Funeral Home, 4303 Pleasant Valley Road, Vernon, Mr. Brian Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Donations in Wayne’s memory can be made to the SPCA or the Salvation Army.

Roy Nelson Beaton, beloved husband of Diane McFadden, passed away peacefully on April 7th, 2008 at the age of 56 years after a short stay in the Vernon Jubilee Hospital.
In addition to his loving wife, Roy leaves to mourn his brother Terry (Claire) Beaton of Lethbridge, step-son, Ryan (Melanie) McFadden and their daughter Gwen of Vancouver; niece Tara (David) Beaton-Grover and their daughters Helen and Joan of San Francisco; nephews: Trevor (Annie) Beaton and their daughters, Alicia, Alexandra, Angela and Andrea of Calgary; Sean Beaton (fiancée Laurel Thirlwall) and his son Patrick of Calgary; Shea (Kelly) Beaton and their daughter Mary of Cold Lake. He will also be dearly missed by other family members, friends and neighbors.
Roy was pre-deceased by his parents Donald and Helen Beaton, his brothers Donald Howard and Murray Joseph.
Roy graduated from NAIT with a Civil Engineering Diploma in 1977. He spent most of his career working as an Oil Well Service Engineer for Schlumberger where he was stationed in several overseas countries. Roy and Diane built their retirement cabin at Parker Cove and enjoyed many hours boating on Okanagan Lake.
The family would like to thank the staff of second floor west of the Vernon Jubilee Hospital for the care and attention provided to Roy during his stay. Our gratitude is also extended to Dr. Chai and Dr. Dippenaar for their valiant efforts to support Roy and the kindness extended to his family.
The funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 13th, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Pleasant Valley Funeral Home, 4303 Pleasant Valley Road, Vernon, B.C. with Mr. Brian Jackson officiating. Cremation. A reception will follow in the Pleasant Valley Tea Room.
