Pope, Iris Margaret Thursday, 30 Aug 2007
Kitimat, BC
July 22, 1926 to August 30, 2007.
She brightened any room with her laughter and her dance, she sang many a song or told a joke with a gleam in her eyes. Her many attributions and love of life, never went unnoticed. Her love for her family was evident, as is their love for her.
Constantly missing her and forever grateful she was such a huge part of our lives; Husband Ernie; son John (Jan), grandson Jeffrey; daughters Lesley (Richard), Susan (Jim); and many family members in England.
At this time we extend our gratitude to the many people who constantly made Mom realize they cared. Our thanks go to Mom’s special friends, the Island Gem’s Dancers, Doctor Louise Pienaar and the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at Nanaimo General Hospital.
If desired, in Memory of Iris, please make any donations to the charity of your choice or The Salvation Army.
Always a Lady She fought a strong, quiet fight.
Kraft, Eva Monday, 02 Jul 2007
Kitimat, BC
After many years in the multi-level care unit at KGH, we are deeply saddened to announce that Eva passed away peacefully on July 2, 2007.
She will be greatly missed by her children Gerd Kraft, Bernd Kraft (Wendy), Marion Opheim (Brad) as well as her grandchildren Robbie, Samantha and Evan.
We wish to thank everyone at MLC, staff and volunteers, for taking such good care of her. After so many years, they are as much her family as we are. We also wish to thank Dr. Mills for his thoughtfulness throughout this time.
Although Eva’s life had become very limited and she had been unable to communicate for many, many years, she still managed to touch a lot of lives. We will love and miss her always but are also comforted by the fact that she is finally at peace after so much hardship.
For anyone wishing to express sympathy, we ask only that if you wish to do so, please contribute to any worthy cause, either by donation or by volunteering some of your free time to someone in need.

Wipfli, Joseph Xavier Monday, 07 Apr 2008
Kitimat, BC
September 17, 1934 - April 7, 2008
It is with great sadness we announce the passing, at 73 years, of our beloved father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend, Joseph Xavier Wipfli.
Joe battled cancer bravely and passed away at home in his cabin in Terrace, with his family by is side ~ his wish.
He is pre-deceased by his son Joey, parents Paula and Severin Wipfli, and pet dog Para; survived by his loving family; daughters Marie, Heidi (Cliff), Tina (Mike), Laurie (Mark); ten grandchildren, Kendra, Kyle, Kobi, Mitchell, Megan, McKenna, Mya, Austin, Brendan and Regan; sister Kläry Gisler; brother Severin Wipfli; nephews and nieces of Altdorf, Switzerland.
Joseph was born in Altdorf, Switzerland, emigrated to Canada in September 1957 where he worked in a logging camp in Prince George; then to Kitimat at Alcan as a Blacksmith, his trade. In 1967 he worked at Kitimat Iron Works as a Welder, Blacksmith for many years.
Joe moved his family to Vancouver in 1972 where he dabbled in car sales and construction until his retirement, when he moved back to the Terrace/Kitimat area to be closer to the rest of his family and the bush.
Joe was a gifted artist, as is reflected in his paintings, carvings and ornamental iron work. He loved the outdoors and nature, respected God’s land; his passion was prospecting, climbing mountains with the mining equipment he built to ‘find that big nugget of gold’. He would take his family to their Swiss cabin on Claque Mountain; and when in Vancouver the family would pan for gold on the Fraser River ~ lovely memories.
We would like to thank Dr. Hoy and the Homecare Nurses, Baxter, Elaine and Jody of Terrace for their help and care of our Dad.
There will be no service, by request, we will spread his ashes in his many favourite places. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Kitimat Humane Society.
You Are Forever In Our Hearts, We Will Miss you Dad!

May 31, 1930 - April 5, 2008
After a long, courageous battle with cancer, it is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Agatha (Aggie) Eltje Breuker in her home with her loving husband and children by her side
Survived by husband Karl; son Ron (Margaret); daughter Shirley (Jim); grandchildren Jeremy, Mathew (Naoise), Michelle, Carly (Scott), Melissa (Matthew) and David.
Aggie will be best remembered for her unending devotion to her family and home, her sunny disposition and sense of humour.
Special thanks to the home care nurses Barb, Brenda, Elaine, and Gloria, the home support girls Aurea, Delia, Grace, Linda and Nancy, who over the past year enriched her life with their love, friendship and exceptional care. She loved you all and we will be forever grateful to each and every one of you.
To Margaret...words cannot begin to express our gratitude. You came into our lives at a critical time and provided the strength and resources to carry us through one of the most difficult times in our lives.
“You can shed tears that she is gone,
or you can smile because she has lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that she’ll come back,
or you can open your eyes and see all she’s left.
Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her,
or you can be full of the love you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember her only that she is gone,
or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind,
be empty and turn your back.
Or you can do what she’d want:
smile, open your eyes, love and go on.” - David Harkins
At Aggie’s request there will be no funeral or memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Aggie’s name, may be made to Kitimat Home Care Nursing, Palliative Care, 920 Lahakas Blvd., Kitimat, BC V8C 2S3.
The Breuker family would like to thank all of our many friends, neighbours, co-workers and acquaintances for all your support, caring and love over the past year and a half. All the prayers, kind words, phone calls and care packages will never be forgotten and we are so very thankful to all of you.
